šŸ“ Skyscraper Directory & Organization Thread

Welcome to the Project Skyscraper Directory

As the Project Skyscraper ARG grows in popularity, the need for improved organization has been highlighted. This thread is a first attempt at this, and serves as:

  1. A directory for the Project Skyscraper ARG, where anyone new or old can locate the info they need to get caught up and begin participating quickly.
  2. A central location for ongoing discussion of incremental improvements on organization.

If you have ideas or suggestions for improving the organization of our ongoing Project Skyscraper investigations, this would be the best place to share them.

This post will be updated with summaries and links to the latest information. The goal is for anyone to be able to get started or catch up easily by visiting this thread.

This follow-up response serves as a secondary top post on the off-chance the OP isn’t available to update the thread.

Proposed Changes/Additions:
-Create Threads for each of these in the Unsolved section:

  • Footer (System Filtering)
  • Landing Page - Nodes
  • Shadowcheck-1912
  • Connection Detected: Access Denied - Shuffling
  • They Can See The Tower
  • Connect Attempt Locations
  • TR4CE
  • WoL Magic Packet

-Reserve two posts at the top of each thread, like this thread does.

-Recommend all brainstorming and stream of consciousness go to NMSCord channel.

-Recommend these threads are used for more concrete, discussed theories, not just chatting.

Here are some more edit suggestions for the top post. I think we need to be as barebones as possible so people can find what they need quickly. If they don’t know what something is, we don’t want to explain it here, but rather in the help page or the specific topic page. The top of the post could be trimmed a lot as well, but I think that should be done later, after most people know what this thread is for.

Major Threads

  • Welcome to Project Skyscraper - Read this first!
  • The Original Project Skyscraper Thread - General project discussion
  • The Storyline - Lore discussion
  • Skyscraper Haven Map Help - Help with the Haven website
  • All Skyscraper Threads

Puzzles
Unsolved

  • Footer - System Filtering
  • Landing Page - Nodes
  • Shadowcheck-1912
  • Connection Detected: Access Denied - Shuffling
  • They Can See The Tower
  • Connection Attempt Locations
  • TR4CE
  • WoL Magic Packet

Solved (for now)

  • Sunday Morning, Wallace Stevens

Thanks for your additions/suggestions, Gumsk!

I’ve implemented a few already.

I want to avoid creating a new thread for every conceivable puzzle to prevent mass confusion. I think as puzzles arise and it’s clear they’re puzzles, we can begin creating dedicated threads. Similar to how the poem thread arose. As they come up, they’ll be added to the links above.

I’m open to seeing other perspectives on that of course! If it’s clear everyone is like ā€œhell no we need threads for every possible puzzleā€ then we can do that.

Also! I don’t want anyone to think I’m the one in charge of creating puzzle threads.

This is a community thing after all. My only ask is that anyone who does, is prepared to maintain its top post and/or have someone secure the first comment in the thread to allow for future maintenance/updates.

This link might be useful to give a sense of the rythm and pace of this ARG for visitors

Credits to you, @YourBasicMaths ! (btw, really nice work!) May i suggest you add in that spreadsheet heartbeats (aka =datevalue(".. "))

I like the changes! I agree we shouldn’t create a new thread for every conceivable puzzle, but I think anything that people have been discussing with at least a dozen or so posts so far and we don’t think is solved should have a thread; however, I posted my suggestions only as a starting point. My concern is that we’re already at almost 2,000 replies in one thread and it’s going to accelerate as more people get involved. We need to get organized or no one will be able to find anything. To get organized, I think we need to funnel people to targeted threads. I’ve seen at least several posts in the past day on most of those topics, except for the WoL packet. Anyway, I don’t consider my list authoritative at all, just a jumping off point for suggestions on what people are definitely discussing.

Oh, and regarding the workload, I am willing to primary a couple of threads and back-up on some others. I don’t think I’m the best choice, as others have much more ARG experience, but if no one better wants it, I will volunteer

I’m loving the ā€œhelp with websiteā€ part. I’ll drop the GitHub the website sits at after I get the updater working for the skyscraper website. Then anyone that edits it - the changes will be automatically pushed to the pi (where the website runs) and update the docker image with the changes

@YourBasicMaths Thank you so much for the effort put into the creation of this topic. I have included it in the the below topic, which is pinned in the category.

It will help users to actually go through the Project Skyscraper category, seeing the topics listed, but the added extra info/details is very useful. We’re considering to pin this to the category too, just to ensure visibilty.

Am I the only one who can no longer see an edit button for their posts on this thread?

Update: this specific reply is editable

but the original post above is not

@DevilinPixy is there a time related issue here? Can regular users not edit a post after a certain amount of time?

The edit tool is not under the 3 dots … ?

Can confirm no edit tool under the three dots.

I can try unpinning it…?

Sure, we can see if that resolves it?
The main thing is we have the link to this thread handy for anyone looking to catch up/become acquainted with the ARG.

Did it make a difference?

Ughh…I am afraid it is time related. Pinning back for now.
