NOTE: This topic is about the Memory Editing on the Project Skyscraper website for the Unverified Memory Bloc Editing Events, see: unverified – project-skyscraper
Introduction
Following the echoes solve for the Six Seasons calender puzzle, Operators were provided with the ability to “edit” existing no/value memory blocs on the Project Skyscraper website. This occurs in the following timeline:
1a- An existing no/value memory bloc gains an Unverified tag, OR
1b- A new no/value memory bloc, which is already tagged as Unverified, is added to the site.
2- Either immediately after the tagging, or after a variable amount of time, an Unverified memory bloc goes “live” for editing. At this point, the page will gain a UI with the following fields:
Memory Bloc Editing - UI Fields
Operator ID
Your username
Memory Compliance Rating
A Star Rating out of 5 for your own memory. Uncertain what this does, theories are mentioned below.
Add Memory Fragment
The text you’d like to input for a chance to be added to the page. Whatever you add will be vetted against live submissions being sent in by others from the page.
At this point, Operators must submit several pieces of information they’d like to anchor to the page. The page itself will slowly update (refreshing is required to see), anchoring in the most “relevant” entries, which acts as a clue for other Operators on what kind of entries to submit. Following a back-and-forth between anchored information and discussions between Operators as the event unfolds, the memory bloc compliance rating at the bottom will slowly change and undulate.
3- The editing UI will disappear and the memory bloc will switch to Verified once the Memory Compliance: Percentage reaches 100%
What is this thread for?
Some initial questions posed by Operators about this system included:
- What the hell are the stars for? Do they increase an entry’s chances to anchor? If so, what’s stopping everyone from spamming 5 star entries? Why have lower star entries at all?
- Is the system really expecting dated articles? Does it expect links at all?
- Is data convergence the main factor for anchoring a bloc? Could we, for example, anchor a bloc entirely about porwiggles by having different community members submit coherent, similar entries about porwiggles?
- What exactly causes the compliance percentage to go down? Is it having non-conforming pieces of data on the page together?
This thread was created as a spot to discuss potential submission plans and coordinate across communities, particularly in a way so as to answer the questions above. This thread then evolved to become a “hub” for all information related to the memory editing events themselves, as well as a place to discuss future “actions plans” related to these events.
This top post will be updated with the current “action plan” once it is set for the next unverified bloc, which should be publicized to as many members as possible.

Previous Action Plans
Initial Tests // Groupings
We could definitely come up with a set of test submissions to figure these out if / when we get another unverified set of blocs to run tests on together
A potentially high-value test would probably be something not immediately tied to NMS pre/post release coverage, have no articles, and all be rated the same star rating (1? 3?). If the copypasta is anchored (and since its the only thing being sent in, probably shoots up to 100%), then we can answer a lot of the questions above.
- Create 2-3 different groups of Operators assigned to submitting coherent entries for a single “theme” assigned to their group, as suggested by @Vau1t
- Come up with 2-3 distinct “topics” to center submissions around which avoid the commonly-spammed information mentioned above.
Based on discussion in the forums and NMScord, I believe the following 3 grouped submissions could work well for this task, although alterations, additions, or thematic changes are encouraged below and will be added if enough people agree on them:
The Cult Of NED
Submissions: Copypastas about the adventures of NED from this post by @YourBasicMaths, as well as “translations” (your own interpretations) of a copypasta in your terms. This can be as silly as you’d like, as is the topic’s nature!

The Hive Of GR3G and D4N
Submissions: Short, coherent stories / tales about the adventures of resident Sentinels GR3G and D4N, created by @MounTheRainbow! The sentinels exist in our real world, so stories about sentinels exploring the modern day are encouraged!
Recommended Stars: 3
Dragon’s Den
Submissions: False “memories” about the release of Light No Fire and / or gameplay might work well here. We managed to get the System to acknowledge LNF temporarily before the submissions were overwritten, so we might be able to get em to stick if done systematically!
Recommended Stars: 4
The Spawning Pool
Submissions: David Attenborough-style narratives about Porwiggles. More details to follow, courtesy of @Selfie-Gek
Recommended Stars: 4
Findings
From the events of 15th June, we can fairly confidently glean the following information about the Memory Editing System:
-
Existing unverified posts aren’t the only ones that can go live for editing. Feb 10th wasn’t unverified in the 5-memory set from earlier; it was set to unverified and went live for editing immediately together.
-
It seems like NMS isn’t the only thing it’s looking for. The 10th Feb date had no remarkable NMS dates, but many community members submitted space-related articles and images, and we managed to anchor a general “spacey” memory together.
-
Editable blocs seem to start off with the ability to anchor in some of our “sillier” inputs, so it’s likely not all rigid. Though, those ones having a low compliance percentage might just be archie saying “its not a shitpost, go use your brains”
-
This is my personal theory based on how yesterday’s verifications went down, but it seems like the system picks out the first thematic post to NMS / Space / Tech that it finds, anchors in a part of it, and then waits for other Operators to add similar bits to fully anchor the memory.
-
We need a bloc title, a quote bloc and a Value to fully anchor a memory, as well as at least one external link. Even when all of these are present, compliance may not go up to 100%, which seems to indicate that some part of the anchored bloc doesn’t fit the theme as well as required and that we should try to replace it.
Additionally, from the events of 20th June, we also realized that Operators should not submit memories in other Operators’ names, even if pre-discussed (or at least not discuss such a plan publicly)
Current Action Plan
As of the 21st of June, 2 memory blocs values have been anchored related to the founding dates of major NMS communities (NMScord and Galactic Hub), with @Oskar1up being reached out to regarding a similar process for the RSS. As such, the current action plan accomodates for such sessions as follows:
- All Operators are requested to refrain from inputting memories for the creation date of an NMS community, unless they belong to said community.
- Willing Operators are also requested to find the founding dates of various NMS communities and compile a list, so that we may immediately identify which
Unverifiedblocs are intended for specific-comunnity submissions.
Additionally, all Operators are requested to “park” their entries on the Memory Engine Tracker under the relevant sheet for the specified date as instructed, in order to make retrieval and planning much smoother than would otherwise be possible.
The current list of NMS Community founding dates is as follows:
- NMS Modding Discord creation - 17th August 2016
- The Alliance of Galactic Travellers is founded - 14th April 2017
- Creation of the NMS France Discord Server - 25th April 2017
- The Qitanian Empire is founded - 23rd December 2018
- Aurelis Prime is formed - 2nd September 2025
- Everion Empire is formed - 7th September 2025
- Voyagers Haven and Neoterra Collective Initialization - 3rd October 2025
