For the last couple of days, this group has been receiving odd little clues, that led us to a web site. We were naturally cautious, but some of us pay a lot of money for high-quality internet security - so, after making a few enquiries, we visited the site. We didn’t find any security problems.
We did, however find what appears to be a some sort of new ARG, and we are sure it’s No Man’s Sky related.
A WARNING - whilst we are pretty convinced this is an ARG, and that it relates to NMS, we have no idea who it belongs to. It may not be an official Hello Games product - it may be a fan tribute.
But you are all grown-ups. If you go there, that’s your choice.
Interesting. When you say some of you have been receiving clues, could you elaborate a bit more? Was it directly aimed at Leader accounts specifically? And if so, in what format were the clues that led you here?
This is very interesting, official or fan made it’s fun to see something reminiscent of the ARG that brought us all together in the first place.
We acquired a new member whose account was behaving oddly. This attracted the attention of the Leaders.
Then the new member posted a “like” in a very random and unexpected place, which again drew attention.
It was noted that in their publicly visible personal information, the new member had instead used a website address. That’s the one we’ve been looking into.
I can’t promise it’s safe - only that we haven’t encountered any threats.
I looked up the domain name info and this is what I got. Seems like it could be fan made. The telephone looks weird, I don’t think i’ve seen a phone number with a decimel point before. A clue? Coordinates? Who knows. I need to look up knockKnockwhoisNOTthere LLC I guess…
Knock Knock WHOIS Not There, LLC is a domain privacy service associated with Automattic Inc. (the company behind WordPress.com) that hides the real contact details of website owners.
this feels VERY waking titan. If this is fan made, they certainly nailed the vibe.
Hello World
So it’s referencing memory blocs, and theres another area that shows memory bloc status as being at 0%
It seems to track how many people are actively viewing the site, and the security log updates seem to almost be in response to user activity or fudged a little to make it appear as so.
Even before they knew it was going to be NMS, when going indie and making Joe Danger, Grant and Sean’s pipe dream that if the company was a success their next game would be their “skyscraper”, something big and monumental.
I was looking at the memory bloc numbers on each date.
I only subtracted the first 2 sets from each other, but they all go up in integers of 212,613
Ekimo is trying to upload an image they found but having that old forum issue of getting stuck on upload and then not having access to the upload button again as it still shows the uploading circle. I think, I’m assuming thats what happened.
Stupid Discourse forum engine bug.
Nevermind, might just be a security flag feature for inactive/new users.
I was wrong in thinking they were all increasing by 212,613. Here is the number increases between each memory bloc in case it signifys something…
I didn’t work the whole way back, the number differences for the sleep cycle logs seem to be similar. Looking at it now, it just seems to be the amount of time passed between each entry log. I’m an asbolute idiot for not copping this is just UTC, the start date being 0 and 1969. Doubt there is any significane here, but hey I wasted my time so somebody else doesn’t have to
