There’s certainly got to be something up with that letter maybe… I can’t make out anything other than the name in lower right, and the word that lucks like “Bumble”.

Their English Cocktail/Drinks menu is… not in english
Maybe that’s the puzzle. We have to call the cafe to let them know their online menu is bugged

The letter is for sure in French, from a Simon de Buet(?). Without removing the glitch/restoring the image fidelity, no easy way to translate much. Any chances we can translate the few words/lines we have here?

I think it’s Simon de Buci (as in the street’s name). He was the first President of the Parliament of Paris, in 1341, apparently.
Apparently Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir have lived on the street.
