ETARC/ Hub Discussion started July 17, 2018

RAM tends to give up on you when you need it most.
But we’re glad you’re back to form here!

You guys are working so hard. Frontiers Division is back up and running. Lots going on there. :+1:
It is possible we just might, I stress maybe, be getting a Hub Megathread. If not, we will proceed to create our own version of one.
I am looking forward to seeing what creative ways the various groups play. Catalogue the galaxy? Build unique bases? Meet up with random players? Maybe we will even get a band of Rougish Pirates. Someone mentioned a Bard’s Guild for catalouging the journeys and stories of others. I believe that was @Captain_Jack. @ashusurus mind chart certainly opens up ideas.
So exciting! :sunglasses:

SPOILER. but awesome news for the Hubs. This is a new in-game feature for NMS. DO NOT look if you don’t want to know

new Galaxy map system, enabling players to witness No Man’s Sky from afar. This is really designed to highlight just how much of a living breathing space it is, thanks to the tireless efforts of the game’s remarkably engaged community. It will show the likes of galactic hubs and just how far afield the surroundings systems have been explored, as well as player discoveries, and even community-provided points of interest - whether these be screenshots, stories, or even poems

As I read farther into the interview, SM stated

ut we are doing community events. Post launch, we’re going gonna start doing weekly updates with content and community missions and things like that. But that’s more supporting something that you’ve probably seen the community already doing. There’s a website that we’re launching that will show people where hubs and factions are, and how much they’ve explored the game and stuff

This is good advice…

So apparently this is old but, I would think it would still apply.

I gladly would if he gave more reassuring answers than what he has for multiplayer…on the positive sides multiplayer is separate from single player and once you join you can just warp away from your other team members and goodbye forever without technically breaking the multiplayer session…so you can just do “community events” by yourself just about…but on the negative side there’s no way to separate PvP from PvE…you can’t just join and you can’t just enjoy coop…that sounds like it won’t be an option.

We’ll find out soon enough.

He did also point out that preying on others brings no rewards.

Where did he say that? I don’t remember that being said at all.

Well, it was in one of the early access articles somewhere above…that was one reviewers assessment after trying it out.

No…I’ve read pretty much all of them…unless you have a specific quote and link I am 95% sure that no rewards for PvP were ever mentioned. He said he intends people to play together and that rewards will come from community events…that’s it…nothing about rewards for PvP.

excerpt from this We Spent an Hour Talking to Hello Games About Everything ‘No Man’s Sky’

Austin: Sean, am I going to get killed by pirates, by human player pirates who hate me and my freighter? Is that a thing I am opting into? Sea of Thieves came out this year, and that was a game where there was big conversation around it.

You can opt out of it. You probably don’t need to worry about it as much as you would in something like Sea of Thieves. The galaxy is very big, and the player base is big but spread apart. People can choose to jump into other players’ games, and there are shortcuts, to do that. We want to bring people together.

Also, PVP isn’t the focus of the game, it’s it’s not very… like, this sounds bad but it’s purposeful, it’s not very rewarding. That was a very conscious decision. If you were doing that, you’re not having necessarily a super exciting time. It actually started with no PVP in, and it felt weird to have a ship and not be able to shoot your friend or whatever, or have a gun and not be able to shoot them. And also, it makes the universe feel more real. People are worried about it! You’re sitting there. Am I just going to get shot by another human? You can already can get shot by pirates, but it’s just a nice feeling to thinking that guy who’s attacking me might be a real person. That’s a neat moment.

Change is coming…hopefully before the weekend is over. :sunglasses:

ETARC HUB IMAGINARIUM EDIT 22.7.2018

Hey everyone,
With all the information Flood that’s happening around now, I’ve edited and tweaked the MindMap to include more data at the request of a few Members.
Also expanded the proposal for player to player interaction within the Hub. Do check it out and Let me know what y’all think.

P.S I’ve embedded hyperlinks to the file but I’m unable to export them onto the PDF. Working on that.

“ETARC CSD is not a place, never was. … ETARC Hub is where our people stand. . . .”

“ETARC CSD is not a place; it’s a People.”
(See also: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRWwMePc4FM&t=33s )

… .and the Logo represents The People (by association with its Identifiers: name, StarChain, Portal, 4 Glyphs)

Just my late thoughts here.

. .and I’m totally up-voting @chelofellow’s last(?) black/light blue badge / patch / logo.
(I’d still really like to see “ETARC” up top, instead of at the bottom… but I’m just one person…)

Big Love to the Community…

Ok, just a final thought … now that I’ve read through the thread more completely / properly…

Just need to say I’m not trying to throw any proverbial wrench in the works, since it appears quite clear that a final logo design has been decided – and what a celebration we should have! – yet I submit to you all, my fellow ETARCian CitScientists, that the design (overall) is “the same”, even if we were to (ask @chelofellow if he might) swap the logo’s “ETARC” up to the TOP spot ((in line with suggestions / support from more than one Member)).

So… I’ll just leave that thought there. :+1:
Big Love All

Has anyone gone to Etarica/Edison, yet? I am out of fuel and have no Idea how to find a portal yet.

I’m there now. It’s a mess - well, at least on PC.

All the planets have changed. Some have been re-named. Planets that were ours now belong to other people.

I still own the capital system and the capital planet, but they’re not called ETARCIA ECSD and EDISON ECSD any more - and I can’t change them.

The comm balls that visitors had left surrounding the capital base are still there - but, since the planet is now smaller, they’re floating in space. If it wasn’t tragic, it would actually be quite funny.

I’ll post some pictures in a short while.

@Polyphemus Did you ever consider to move somewhere else and start afresh? I think that could be a smarter move since I doubt future resets will happen…
