Patient Intervention Thread - Alexander

There are lots of radio stations these days that have no radio. They only exist on the internet.

For a radio station, what you need is someone who sounds plausibly like a DJ, and a record. That’s all.

I don’t think that is in the spirit of things

I’m in the States, so call charges will apply for out of state. Anyway, there is a brand new radio station here that will literally play ‘anything’. It really fits perfect for this. I am sharing the website for anyone that wants to give it a go. I’m sure the Reddit and Discord communities are already on top of things, but if I had to pick an organizer for ETARC I’d nominate @DevilinPixy.

Shhh…we don’t know that there will be enough entries to begin with…anything that helps us not miserably fail is great.

In the end we need all recorded radio requests to be provided as one big playlist. I don’t mind organising, thanks for suggesting me, although I am quite busy. I threw the idea in Discord for collecting the songs. Will keep an eye on it.

We have stations here who take requests but, they will never play those songs. It will be very difficult to find a station that will even have these songs in their possession. (Aside from Elvis) There was a station that played 40’s /50’s but it is gone. I am thinking XM Radio would be the best way to go but…this is not an easy task. I listen to 40’s all the time and some 50’s. I have never heard any Julie London played. I, however do have 2 of her records.

If you do not have an XM Radio subscription, it is also played on DISH Satellite. I don’t know if Direct TV has it or not. They do not cover all of the stations but, they do cover the 40’s and 50’s as well as Jazz which is what most of this music is.

…then you’re probably writing in Python.

Sorry, programmer joke. Professional hazard, I’m afraid.

♫♪ I love music and learning. I spend a great deal of time on studying stuff and researching.
So, for anyone interested in listening, I pulled Alexander’s playlist links from You-Tube along with publish dates as a way for us to better understand his feels. :heartpulse: This dreamer really pulls at my heart strings. ♪♫

Play List:

Love Me Tender – Elvis Presley [1956]

I’ve Got a Feeling I’m Falling - Ella Fitzgerald [1929]

Sophisticated Lady - Duke Ellington [1932]

Love For Sale – Cannonball Adderley [1958]

You Don’t Know What Love Is – Sonny Rollilns [1956]

The Nearness of You – Erroll Garner [1955]

I’m in the Mood for Love – Sarah Vaughan [1954]

Cry Me a River – Julie London [1953]

Guys, the best bet may be to fudge this one. Even with a station who takes requests, and has these songs, it can take hours before they play your song…I used to request a LOT. I think we need a DJ.

Julie London was a bombshell. I love her music because it is in my range. I have her Blues In the Night and Make Love To Me albums. I love them.

I agree. Working on it.

And while I’m at it - @LilLadyD76, we’ll probably get away with most of those - but not the Erroll Garner “Nearness of You”. What you’ve posted is a much later live version. We need the original - and it’s not available on YouTube.

What we could do is when whoever is streaming ie, Cobra, L-Plays, Macforaday etc. is request a song for Alexander and they have to sing it, i’m sure Emily would prefer that

Ha ha. You know who is my range? Neil Diamond. About half an octave. I do a great Neil Diamond - but nothing else.

They don’t have to sing it -they could just play it. But I think you’re on the right lines. Those guys could broadcast requests for us.

I just tweeted them all @darkbydesign19

Darn it, the guy seems to have released no less than 10 records in 1955. Even finding the one the song is on is a chore!
