Myriad-70 solve thread

To be complete, the Service Codes were required for solving the solution to the 5th glyph.

I’ve looked up and down the sonic bridge, but three of my favorite things are still missing. xx-xx-xxx@myriad-70.com

DO, MI, SOL were missing in the ‘solfège’ and were the solution to the email address mentioned by JJ Wong. Sending an email to do-mi-sol@myriad-70.com resulted in a coded reply, which resulted in (decimal to ascii):

DO(116) MI(707) SOL(811)

Using the ‘/status/’ page, the ‘solfège’ (DO, RE, MI, FA, SOL, LA, SI) then decoded to ‘bolzano’ as the solution to the 5th glyph.

ok thanks for the recap… any ideas on the image of Nyarlathotep? when searching /atlas/ ?

You also have to consider that the “This can sometimes happen during solar events…” could also refer to Coronal Ejections (CE) events. These happen often which can disrupt satellite and ground-based communication systems. There is a 11-year cycle where the CEs increase and then decrease. At the height, most forms of communications are affected.

The larger version of CEs are called CME…for Coronal Mass Ejections. In 2012, we barely missed being hit with a CME that could have/would have fried all electronics of everything on the portion of Earth which was pointed towards the arriving solar mass. All the airlines would have crashed, all power-grids would go dark, automobiles/motors-in-everything would stop working…even electric watches would be fried. This has happened before in 1859 but back then, communications were restricted to telegram-wires (Morse Code era) and everyone still used horse-and-buggy transportation…not much to burn out.

I suspect that the Solar Shields are to reduce the effects of CE/CME events upon the interdimensional services which Myriad-70 offers! -)

Links for you on CE/CME…
The RSOE EDIS site is great for world-wide disaster information. Includes a movable-zoomable map. It also lists current and past events. They include CMEs when they are forecasted or the 11-year cycle is in the upswing…currently we are in the down-swing. http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php

NASA’s explains what CMEs are: Coronal Mass Ejections | NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center

There are really only 2 things I worry about that the universe/nature can throw at us. Number one is a huge CME hitting Earth. The other will cause 10s of Millions of deaths when it happens and it is overdue… The Cascadia Subduction Zone.

In itself, as a profile image to create the posts within the websites (not just Myriad-70), I would not think too much of it. On the other hand, I think the image, made by Jens Heimdahl is well chosen in regards to the full ARG and story and even more so in regards to Alice & Smith. Whether this image was specifically chosen for this ARG remains to be seen though and could have been picked before plans for this specific ARG were made.

It’s probably not a relevant connection, but I thought I’d mention it just in case: Sean Murray sometimes mentioned the game The Long Dark as an inspiration for NMS’s survival aspects, and The Long Dark is set in the aftermath of a CME (The Long Dark's Creative Director Sheds Light on its Story, Setting, and Conditions).

just scanned the Atlas image with OutGuess, and it says that there is a secret message, but when i put it in to JPHS it needs a password. any thoughts on this?

I cut the image in half for clarity. Does anyone know what city this is? The top of the tall building to the left has a blurred image of what looks like two people with some letters to the left of that. Maybe a mirror image?

didn’t find anything with that… but i did find this… http://www.superlumina-6c.com/

the next sight i wonder?

ok, just realised you all know about this already, sorry.

@Drakonslayor May I ask how OutGuess says there is a secret message?

There are many similar tools to JPHS that allow you to hide a file(s) within JPEG with specific algorithms being used. In case of JPHS, I believe this is Blowfish, which is not used with OutGuess. Because such programs often do things different, you would want to use the same program that was used to hide the file(s), to be able to retrieve them again. Most of these programs are designed to use a password/key, which in combination with the algorithm hides the file(s). You would need to know the method/program initially used as well as the password/key used to get the file(s) back from the JPEG image. This is why JPHS and many others will ask for a password.

I guess it doesn’t hurt trying, but no clues have been found so far that indicate use of any such programs, let alone the key that goes with it. Looking into the source of files with a hex editor, might give some clues however. Finding specific markers could be a good indication of something hidden within. There are also specific tools that can be used to look for such headers and known ways of hiding, like StegDetect/StegSolve or similar. Often such data is truly well hidden however, and can not really be easily detected, with clues in such a case pretty much being a requirement.

I did notice that there are different sources for the same Atlas.jpg file. They result in slightly different file size as well. This may in itself be an indication of something possibly hidden within. However, after further inspection, this appears to just be a slight difference in format used. If you compare the following image from atlas-65, http://atlas-65.com/images/bg/Atlas.jpg, with the image you used, you will see that yours uses the Exif format and the one on Atlas-65 uses the JFIF format. The Exif format results in a slightly larger file (1,136,752 bytes), due to additional info stored within. The JFIF format results in a smaller image file (1,090,924 bytes). Of course with JPEG, compression used could also result in different file size.

I have personally not checked where the image may have been made, but I would suggest to check the stock image used for possible clues. Although not mentioned, this person’s other images do often mention a location, like Dubai or Shanghai.
Source:

The tall building on the left is a Marriott hotel. There is signage that says something like “WJN Marriott”. I looked on Google Images for “Marriott Hotels” but didn’t find a matching image. I think the city is somewhere in China per the style of the city…maybe a Tier 2 city there.

I found the lettering on the hotel by splitting out the Red, Green, and Blue channels which renders in black & white on the old Paint Shop Pro graphics program I have but the program is dated 1998 so the graphic capabilities are not up to date…like Photoshop would be.

Per the Atlas.jpg image containing a secret: Remember to use the source provided. Old_Gods can always take a public domain image, insert a secret, then post the modified image…which is what I think has been done. Just because you can find the same image elsewhere on the Internet, it is the images related to this ARG which should be analyzed for hidden content.

If you click on the artist, it says he is based in Thailand. Also, the keywords below the image include “bangkok.”

I did not just find it elsewhere. The image I used as comparison to the image @Drakonslayor used from the Myriad-70 website came from Atlas-65 and I even included the url.

Ah yes, I did not even notice it in the tags. So I guess @CrossID can assume that to be the actual location then, Bankok Thailand?

Thanks @Reikon16 for that info. Yeppers, it is the JW Marriott in Bangkok, Thailand (BJW). So the cityscape is Bangkok.

Here is the Blue channel which I sharpened. You can see the lettering on the side of the building. Looks like WJN and below it appears Marriott.

I don’t think it is. The building in the photo is on a waterway, the JW Marriot is not. The JW Marriot actually says “JW Marriot” on it in one line. The one in the Atlas picture says(?) WJN and then(?) “Marriot” below.

I look at it and I see Thai letters, not english, so I don’t think it actually says WJN or Marriott.

I actually think the large building on the left is the CAT Telecom Tower in Bangkok. All the way at the bottom middle, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel with to the left of it the Bangrak Fire Station (1890), which is easily recognised due to its neo-classical building style.
