I can’t describe what I feel…

Well, sometimes you just need to earn a bit of money to continue doing the things you really want to be doing. I’d imagine this gives them an opportunity to get double worth for many of the assets they built for Myst. For an Indy (whose release schedules are mostly determined by “how many months can we keep eating”), such an opportunity can be pretty huge.

if it’s anything like EB GAMES here, problem is the business model. everything is being pushed to be digital. In my case my PS5 is digital, my new XBox is not…but for me that 50% reduction in physical purchase options. I’m sure many are the same or even 100% digital now. Everything else is cheaper online, so unless I need something the same day…but it sucks brick and mortar stores are all shutting down slowly.

For what it’s worth, I never understood how such a highly specialised business model could even work. I mean, a retail store for essentially one particular product? It’s suicide to begin with.
Game stores have never been a thing in europe except in large cities, where they usually also carry board- and tabletop games and quite often also comic books. You know, more of a “nerd store” than a game store. But a whole franchise just dedicated to video games? I never quite understood how they could make it for this long…
We used to buy our games in the common supermarket or other stores that carried software in general, and as soon as the internet was a thing we started ordering them online to be sent by mail because the selection sucked a lot less that way. In a way, most european gamers were accustomed to buying their games online before the internet even had the capacity to deliver all that data to us…

So in the US it has kind of been the opposite. Due to slow or complete lack of internet, physical copies have had a strong appeal to many people especially in rural areas. For storage purposes, I still prefer a physical copy and I just love browsing the shelves and picking up cases to read the back. But the dwindling supply of physical copies for PC gaming hurt. Now that I have good internet, I have bought only 2 physical game copies in the last 2 years. One was for Switch, which I still prefer physical for. I will miss standing in line at midnight with cosplayers waiting for a new big release. Was a lot of fun.

In Belgium we used to have game mania. Only in big cities of course. But in the past they were also in the renting business. You could rent a console + the game. But now everybody has a console.

In those days the business model made sense.

I collect physical copies of games as a 2-part hobby (play them, keep them.) Not having physical copies is a deal breaker for a console purchase.

The only digit copies of games I entertain are the free ones through PSN. Even then, I have purchased physical copies of favorite digital games later on for collection purposes.

Oh, it says “play time: 2k” so it does use your existing account. But not the same save file?

I am thinking I can move my save file over since it has a desktop mode. And it is possible I could use the cloud but I have that turned off in Steam.

Possibly the best news I’ve heard all year is that there’s going to be a new Subnautica game…

I was already chuffed when i heard that a new Sniper Elite game was going to be released in May. Now I’m ecstatic :heart::blush:

How are you finding it? I was a little concerned about the battery life and small screen. I just watched iFixit’s tear down and replacing the battery seems to be a little difficult.

Loving it! Yes, the NMS font is really tiny. I have tried a few games and did some online surfing with it. Have to have a keyboard for that though. I have a cheap BT keyboard that works great. Got 3 hours of NMS in before draining the battery. That is an hour better than anything on Switch

Do you have to wait until the battery is recharged or is there a way of using an external battery? It’d be really great if you could swap power sources without having to wait.

only played the first one. it was fun enough. I would love for some of the mechanics (leaks etc) to be in no man’s sky
