[ETARC HUB]: Citizen Science Frontiers Division CSFD

I had a blue eye following me when I was doing the quest. It was bugged until one of the updates. It was supposed to be pointing me to Nada and Polo but they never showed. One of the patches fixed it though and after I met up with them, the blue eye left. There is a specific system you meet them in. I believe it is where your base is and it can take some time for them to show up. Don’t know if that helps, hope so

also, finding that something is stalking the Traveler. Don’t know what it is, it does not like the Traveler. It want the Traveler dead.

It is not the Atlas.
It is not the Sentinels.
It is not the Vykeen.
It is not the Korvac
It is not the Gek.
Is it Emily?

Have we arrived at a naming convention? I am pretty much setup to travel now but want to start naming as I am going. I still have the atlas path(only been to one), and the purge missions…but I am going to start working my way towards the center and want to contribute.

Nothing official, still Waiting on @SlowRiot4NuZero, to open polls up again. Looks like people are leaning towards a flexible Tagging. I have been tagging ETARC for systems and CSFD or nothing for planets. you can look here to see whAt the other Frontier nomads have been tagging. https://forums.etarc.org/t/etarc-hub-csfd-address-reporting/3101?u=sir_oops

I’ve been also using ETARC for systems and CSFD for planets. ETARC at the beginning for systems and CSFD at the end of planets.

Exploring a planet the last couple days that is one of my all-time favorites. A full report will be on our address thread later.

@Oshoryu and I drafted a document to help with recording discoveries. It’s not finished, so let Osh know what it needs. We are going for one page for systems and one for planets. The less writing the better.

I have to take a break, this game just got too much.
The flight controls that exist when flying on the planet is horrid.
It has become to frustrating.

I here you! That bugged me, also. Its real slow or hard to point toward question marks. Many question marks are far away, when flying to them I’m constantly pulling up to miss even flat ground. I end up driving more and walking then call ship.

I realize why it is so frustrating : it is because you are fighting the game to do something.
That should not be! It takes the fun out of the game.

You must have been in space to long, my friend. You’ve lost your land legs… Atmosphere wings? No, its totally the game. they should have made an auto pilot system, where low flight, is auto pilot in off.

I’ve had to alter my flying style.
I’m on PS4 so I’m using a controller.
For as long as I’ve been playing Playstations, I’ve only used 1 finger for each of the (L1 L2 R1 R2) trigger buttons. Not sure if its just me or everyone plays like that.
Anyway…
Now I’ve had to patiently teach myself how to use 2 fingers per side to master low altitude and dog fights.
I now can do cool turn-around banking brake maneuvers as I’m about to land and tracking ships in dog fights is way easier.
Skimming through mountain peaks is now a fun challenge and I rarely clip trees.

As for cruising towards medium distant landmarks I often fly upside down, taking advantage of the open screen view so I can see ahead better. It looks like you are flying under a landmass but you adapt pretty easily. You can fly in upside-down, right to your landing point and she’ll flip over as you land. (My missus hates watching me do that so I often correct prior to my final approach).
If a landmark is ages away I go into space and pulse drive untill I can nose dive down to my destination.

I rarely fly on planets. Mostly walk. Sometimes use motorized travel. Just something about walking and taking everything in.

If exploring I favour walking. Thats what I do most. I love that now when you decide you’ve had enough you can summon your ship.
When collecting bulk supplies I use an exo particularly if dangerous critters are too numerous to tolerate.
For recreational barnstorming and base hopping I’ll resort to the ship.
Bit of everything

Calling your ship is the best thing ever for people like me! It was the main annoyance I had when walking long distances from my ship. Trying to find an outpost where I could call my ship. It’s perfect now!!!

Ha ha.
Ive found myself on a couple of occasions 45min away from my ship in extreme conditions having to back track because couldn’t find a base with a pad.
Totally agree: summoning ships is one of the best tweeks for wandering explorers.

Being able to call your ship is the best. It’s super helpful on survival, especially with the increased rate of plutonium around. I spend most of my time on foot now.

yes call the ship is a good feature.

One of my favourite things to do is entering the atmosphere of a new planet and just flying over it. Flying low, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, just to get a ‘feel’ for the planet. I can usually decide from here if I like the place or not. I’ll spam the scanner and look for a free landing pad or look for plutonium and land near that.

I remember ages ago when I found a crashed ship I wanted, I claimed it and then needed to repair it, I literally walked for hours trying to find Zinc, (this is pre-Foundation) I was about 40 odd minutes away from my ship in walking time and finally found my Zinc, I was then faced with either retracing my steps or carrying on. I decided to press on and mercifully I found a Trading Post; you’ve never seen me crafting a Bypass Chip so fast!

Moral of the story, always carry Zinc with you!
