Atlas passes have arrived

I suppose if they are going to use groups in the new ARG, then the original CSD IDs could be used. But even then, that excludes new players.

The CSD website is still up, but several people have told me it’s not sending out emails any more. Does anyone have confirmation of that?

Hey everyone, if you get an atlas pass, please contact one of the people on this spreadsheet so we can add your info https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TrNnrCzg8H7cbbAE6lIOFQ7JK8aTSKjxY9Q1i8EfjBs/edit?usp=drivesdk

So far no sign of passes outside Canada. It is assumed they are currently waiting in line at customs.

Not that I have seen. However, I am not far from Canada on the Eastern side of the U.S. If I am getting one, it will likely be today or the next.

To check mail in Barrow, I have to drive 2 miles to the post office.
There is no home delivery.
Mail usually arrives by plane on Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Yeah, I live in the north east of the US so it might come a bit sooner

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe the 250,000 was a reference to number of connections. It was implied that individuals could make more than one connection.

I live in Minnesota, dead center right next to Canada. I don’t know if that means they will get here sooner, but I will keep everyone posted :+1:

It was my understanding as well that the 250,000 number was the number of different connection during WT and not necessarily the number of CSD members.

The one problem I have with this information gathering is that we were asked to keep our designations secret.

Until we are released from that obligation for game purposes, I will not supply that specific piece of information.

Hello Citizen Scientists,

It’s been a year since No Man’s Sky first released, and it’s been an exciting, intense and emotional year for us at Hello Games. We have been quiet, but we have been listening intently.

We’ve spent that year working hard on free updates for this game our team cares about so much.

Update 1.3 will release this week and will be available for free to all No Man’s Sky players. We’re calling it Atlas Rises. It focuses on improving the central story of No Man’s Sky and adds the ability to quick travel between locations using portals. Patch notes will be made available shortly before the update goes live.

What we do is much more important than what we say, but since launch we have sometimes focused too much on that.

We wanted to reach out and celebrate the devoted community that means so much to us. We launched Waking Titan to try to do that.

When we posted those cassettes we didn’t know what to expect. In the last eight weeks a quarter of a million players from across the globe (174 countries, to be precise!) have come together - united by a shared love of mystery and science fiction - to form the Citizen Science Division. You’ve travelled great distances both real and virtual, undertaken complex tasks, and explored the depths of simulation theory. New friendships have been forged, and a tight-knit community has been created. Most importantly a cute hamster has a new home.

You’ve become part of the No Man’s Sky origin story.

It’s been an honour to watch, but this is just the beginning. Whether you’ve followed Waking Titan or not, we welcome anyone to sign up to the Citizen Science Division, and to join us on the official CSD forums.

Our journey continues.

Thank you for this year. We hope you enjoy what comes next.

It’s entirely possible that the word ‘PHOENIX’ printed on the physical Atlas Passes has a deeper meaning or use in the ARG, but it’s also possible that it is simply meant to represent the ARG being ‘reborn’.

I got my quotes wrong. I was thinking about this:

/= MERCURY OS REPORT =//
Connections received: 2,197,841
Data streamed: 10.4 terabytes
Terminal Commands Input: 1,081,936
– Total unique command: 49 797
– Top command: 207 904 WhoIs

It’s also possible to see it as No Man’s Sky being reborn - went down in flames, then rose again.

(Except, for me, it didn’t go down in flames - I’ve always liked it)

Yes, I know. And the variance in figures is confusing.

But in the final analysis, the actual figures aren’t all that important. Whether 10,000 represents 4% of the total, or 40%, there’s still an awful lot of players who aren’t going to get a pass.

And that being the case, I can’t see that possession of a pass will be necessary to play the ARG. Which was my point.

We wont ask you to share your csd id of course, we would simply like the other info on it

Mail came and no Atlas Pass. There were oranges though. That was nice.

I agree. I assume the passes will provide a hint, not exclusive access to continue the ARG.

Still would be cool to get one…
