TIP
Spoiler.
The large beasts (I saw 2 sorts) that look a bit like a Triceratops is the critter to feed to get the eggs.
I found a good spawning ground about 900 North of the grave.
Seem to not be around at night.
Edit. Added detail.

I’m puzzled. Again on Reddit I see people saying they cannot complete this mission, they got killed by biohorrors right after leaving the gate, they can’t find any animal, the animals despawn on approach, they had to search and feed 6 animals individually to get enough eggs, etc…
On Friday evening I just dropped 2 or 3 baits (I flew just a bit further away from the portal) and was done. I spent more time riding animals (incl floaticrabs on a neighbouring planet) than doing the mission…
This time round, I actually saw several glowing red sentinels and 2 biohorrors (meaning I’m at least not completely desynced) — but they were aggroing on someone else and ignored me.
One guy was actively killing all animals in range. But there are unlimited animals to be found nearby, and nobody cared.
What are they doing differently, I mean, are there some tips I should be spreading? One example I can think of would be “don’t pick up gravitinos if you’re not prepared to fight”. I’ve heard of new players blindly picking up everything while complaining that sentinels and biohorrors never stop killing them, without noticing the connection. Or new players forgetting that they can simply travel anywhere on that planet. They don’t need to wait on pvp-griefer and biohorror-infested grounds for the mission to come to them.
Speaking of which, does the breach spawn these horrors, or are players opening whispering eggs?
PS: I don’t recall seeing any terraformed ground either, this is all quite out of sync
It seems griefers are causing all of this trouble. The horrors are something they have been plaguing the events with for some time now.
The TM that is happening pops in and out of existence.
This weekend was really bad. I flew far away and put out my food processor to get some eggs and POOF! The whole thing vanished. At that point, I disabled MP and everything became calm. Too calm. There were tons of critters with MP on, and they vanished with the players when I turned it off. I waited patiently and animals began to slowly spawn in.
The latest patch was supposed to stop people from building around the waypoint but, it did not really work.
Not sure how players spawn the horrors but they do. And they do it often.
As for sentinels, that is something some players love to do around the waypoint. Aggro. The sentinels should leave other players alone unless they attack the sentinels or do something to draw their ire.
There was a nearby, two-toned critter. Quite large. They gave eggs. I will add a pic later.
There’s a creature pic in the spoiler section of @TravelEcho’s post above: Weekend Event - #298 by TravelEcho
Players are spawning the horrors? I just thought it was something that was randomly happening during this particular season of weekend events. Something related to the rifts. I haven’t seen it happen on other mp missions or portal trips.
I have witnessed it only a few times, always when other players are present. Most times, there are no horrors. Never any with MP off. That has been my experience.
I believe the planets we are being sent to seem to be more and more likely to have irate sentinels. There has been sac venom and gravatino orbs the last few times. These planets always have sentinels on high alert. That seems to point more to the scant story line we have been given.
Having horrors spawn in places where there are none of their eggs does not seem to fit.
I was present on one occassion when another player did something that seemed to spawn horrors out of no where. I would have inquired but he seemed to only speak Russian.
This is conjecture on my part based on what I have personally witnessed.
From what I understood, you can still build at those locations, but it will not load for players who have the mission active. Only when you are done with the mission, or not on the mission, will whatever was built load again.
Ah, ok. Well the TM around the site still loaded in bits and pieces. When I turned MP off, the whole TM loaded in and I took the pic above.
Confirmed. I just watched one of them doing it. Having completed the quest, I was approaching the portal in my ship, ready to leave. Another ship landed at the portal, the pilot got out, and a bunch of monstrosities spawned around him. Then he got back in his ship and flew off, leaving the portal surrounded by horrors.
Unfortunately I was coming in to land at the time, and I couldn’t get his name. But it very much looks like they have a hack that allows them to spawn monstrosities into multiplayer.
Biological horrors (or on rare occasion a single corrupted sentinel) spawn every time KnightAlese and I are teamed up for the weekend mission (PS4, any mode). It seems to be chance as to whether they spawn at the portal or at the disturbance site.
@Polyphemus, it could be that the player either couldn’t handle or was too lazy to deal with the swarm. So they lifted off until it subsided without regard to other players.
I am happy to say that KnighAlese and I stay to confront the swarm every time we cause them to spawn by arrival. A good part of the time if there are other players about, they stay to assist with the battle.
Hi, everyone, does anyone know the coordinates of the planet where the event happened last weekend? I would love to revisit the planet! Thanks!
Hiparco
Welcome to the forum @hiparco! I don’t think I got the coordinates, sorry. Hopefully someone here did.
I don’t have that either. That suggests a best practice when landing on any new planet:
I could not dredge up enough desire to grind through another of these meaningless (to me) repetitious (to me) missions. Maybe later this weekend.
At least this one is simple, easy to do.
I’m right with you.
I picked up the PS4 controller about to fire it up…and then I just put it down again and wandered off & found something more constructive do.
Just lost my enthusiasm.
At least some chores are getting done
Yeah, wasn’t the most exciting mission ever. I didn’t even look at the other planets this time (nor attempt to scan animals). I wonder if this builds up to some sort of finale where, whatever we have been feeding, finally comes out and… gives us a cookie? Maybe?
The planet this time wasn’t too bad looking. In between the bouts of bad weather.
And something built at the portal wasn’t loading for me. Judging by the V shape I venture to guess it spelled out VIKY.
If only we could find out who built these bases and named the plan–! Oh… Never mind.
Somebody “vandalised” the tilted inside of the crashed freighter with an explore-together grafitti and put down a tiny base with a TINY terminus.
I turn my back for 5 minutes and you start ingesting the local flora!! Yes, you! Don’t look at me like that! … … Sigh. Okay! Go ahead eat it, I wait. Ugh.
