The tiny cargo cracked me up too. Just needs a comm ball saying “free, take what ever you need” and then wait who falls for it.
Also good use of decals for spelling out the name inside.
Hostile Sentinels in Permadeath mode.
Cave entry at -3700 -8.83 (or any of the entrances near the grove of Starbulbs on the hill for that matter) 920u away westard from crash site yielded nice collection of pearls. Combined with some on the ridge above the crash site it’s enough.
Edited for info & clarity
Actually, even easier:
Just behind the portal there is a cluster of pearls and then just up the ridge there is a cave entrance that provides the rest.
Very accessible
I got lucky with my normal mode save --at the portal before going to the target planet, caves full of the stuff. Saved a ton of time.
Some players complain that they can’t find the item to harvest, or that no animals spawn, that never happened to me, I wonder what they are doing differently? Maybe they only look right at the site, or they don’t know what the item looks like on the scanner, or they don’t recognise it?
Also I am only seeing biohorrors since the last few events, in previous events I saw terraformed holes in the ground around the “disturbance”, and people running around, but I never saw what they were shooting at.
Sometimes player ships seem to be shooting at players, but from my point of view the shooters are suspended in mid air like a slide show, and they seem to never hit anything. I (rarely) see red laser beams appear on the ground next to me, sometimes even through walls/caves, with no visible attacker…
And this weekend, there was a warning (I’m in Normal mode) but I saw zero sentinels on that planet. I just picked up the quest items here and there without any challenge. Once I walked into another player and he seemed to be harvesting the same resource nodes as I without conflict. (True coop, we’re not stealing each other’s loot.)
In short: is there a lot of desync going on for you too? What does it look like for you?
Yes. Even on the anomaly, lots of strange things happened. Lots of stuttering, ships landing on ships and I had a very difficult time landing on the event planet.
When online (PS4), regardless of my multiplayer settings, I’ve noticed things render in much more slowly on the shared, community-mission planets.
For example: I knew exactly where to find some pearls, (up in the canyon above the crash site), yet when I went there, all that could be seen was the soft glow cave pearls emit. On closer inspection, I could interact with the ‘invisible’ pearls but not actually see them.
I’ve also found melee boosting further slows down rendering so that everything appears barren, taking several seconds to pop in sometimes.
Landing a ship can be very difficult when not able to find clear space among all the invisible collisions.
So even if playing with no multiplayer contact, my game gets affected by all the activity going on that I can’t even see.
One other thing I noticed: was everytime I start a community mission, I always get sent somewhere to find Knowledge Stones that has hardly any. I now immediately place a Summoner, call my Roamer & utilise its scanner to locate a monolith, where I know I’ll find 3 Knowledge Stones.
Oh, that would explain some of the complaints, a less experienced player would write this off as unsolvable.
I’ve also noticed the shortage of knowledge stones on the planets where you’re supposed to find them.
I thought I’d outsmart the game - I would go to a different planet, where I know there are lots of knowledge stones.
It doesn’t work. Knowledge stones on other planets just behave like regular knowledge stones. They don’t give you the pieces of the portal code. You can only use the knowledge stones on the planet the game sends you to.
But it’s all science. Even a negative result is still a result.
That never happened to me, intersting (and good tip to remember)! Are you starting in the same system every time? I call the Anomaly into the same system, it always points out the same portal, and I practically use the same handfull of knowledge stones every time.
I tried that too.
Hunting up a monolith is a pretty quick solution though.
I like how a Summoner works for an entire system now. That means there’s a now good chance there’s one already built in a previously visited local system. If there isn’t, I make a point of leaving one now…usually next to a Trading Post & marked with a beacon.
It depends. Sometimes I go home & save there so I then end up using my local portal.
Other times, I’m a zillion miles away exploring & I save on board my freighter so my missions start in a new system.
I didn’t realise you could do that for the Weekend Event mission interactions. I thought once triggered, a Knowledge Stone was ‘used up’.
Good to know
The Knowledge Stones worked on another planet for me, however, the game moved the Portal (rather, it changed the portal I was sent to) from the planet with no Knowledge Stones to the planet I found KS on. So, basically, yes, that is true. Perhaps there was no portal on the planet you tried.
I was doing that as well. But then I moved on. I was sent to the same portal with 3 nearby KS. I should go back to that system.
Every Damn Time!
My “home” system always does that. I experimented with starting the weekend mission from different systems (my resource-mining base systems to be exact), and a couple of those used much better planets. So now I always try to tele to one of those systems first before doing the weekend tasks.
I do wish many of the nexus missions were less hand-holdy in general sometimes. Just tell me what is needed and let me go at it wherever/however I want. The game could always provide a place to go for optional hints, or even outright solutions, maybe at an extra cost or reduced final reward?
That always happens to me. I feel like that particular phase is an unnecessary grind. We should be able to talk to an NPC on the Nexus for the “glyphs”.
I like that idea. Makes more sense.
Stupid archaic Daylight Savings/Daylight Time change has thrown off my Weekend Event schedule.
It seems that the Weekend Event now starts here at 2pm now instead of one pm. :`P
This Weekends pickup"
I saw no terraforming on PC Normal Solo mode. It took me quite a while to find the right critters. It was well after your post. So I assume the Terrain Manipulation was done on multiplayer only?
Here is the only base I saw. and this one was on Creative.
Pretty sweet, though it was incomplete I think at the time.
