Visions (new update)

After NEXT arrived I had a very hard time finding the Boundary Failure rings, well, actually, I had not found a single one even though I had been to many planets that would have had one before…Now they have returned. I am finding them just as easily as I did before NEXT and I am wondering if they contain new Lore. I don’t remember what I am reading.

Having found one via my Legacy Save with all the lore finished I just got the same “They see you” bit.
Not sure about a new playthrough though…I’m yet to reach that capability in my newest save.

I spent about 15 hours yesterday looking at planets and seeing the new flora, fauna, and colors. Sky and water colors are amazing.
Here is what I found so far . Haven’t found the exploding flora/minerals. I haven’t had a chance to look at my underwater base flora, or colors yet either.

I’d gotten used to discovering an animal and having the red dot turn green and then notice that another animal with a totally different head (or extremity) also became a green dot.

Went back to Discoveries and counted up the entries. I don’t recall receiving any message and I know for sure that I discovered them separately but the number of entries is greater than the count of Species Discovered. So the second didn’t really count at all.

That’s because the other one is the same species, just a different gender.

It’s not just big flora, or exotic either - they added a bunch of new flora for all biomes , here are a couple

I noticed today my ship no longer collides with asteroids. Should we assume that’s unintentional?

Mine does. I suspect that you’re just a better pilot.

Mine does sometimes.
Seems a direct head-on impact does nothing but a glancing blow does.

try running into the Hello World sign in the community event. It’s like a giant space ship net. I thought I could power through it, but oh no, it caught me good. I was in sheer pucker mode for a bit.

LOL, yeah I still hit everything else, but just noticed yesterday that I was no longer colliding at all with small asteroids at any speed. I noticed if I intentionally fly at them very slowly, my ship automatically tries to veer out of the way, but if I keep steering into them I’ll just quietly pass right on through. Fortunately I still bounce off the big potatoes with a reassuringly painful “thunk”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Visions seems to have partially reset most systems.
One bonus for (those still acquiring suit slots) is the venders have reset, allowing you to back-track through you teleporter list and buy more slots without needing to warp to new systems.
Also the little encrypted nanite boxes have all reset too. Not sure about venders modules but I suspect they have reset too.

I just discovered the new arrangement of a crashed freighter. More interesting to salvage.

For anyone having trouble locating the elusive collectable ornamental tree from Hex-Exotic planets.

For some reason the HEXPLATE BUSH (pictured above) found on the electric hexagon worlds can be very hard to find compared to the collectables found on other exotic worlds…

Firstly these collectables will only show up in your scan {?} if you are about 90 units or often less away so you need to be very close. Although the stems can range in colour, they are often the same bright yellow as the tree-things around them so spotting them by eye can be very tricky, (plus the fact the yellow {?} blends in a bit).

We’ve also found that they do not always spawn for all players present so searching with a friend or 2 in multiplayer can help. Although unproven, I suspect that moving fast over the terrain also affects the likelihood of one appearing. Walking and short boosts only.

We found that picking a particular direction and sticking to it rather than weaving all over the place yields the greater likelihood of finding them. It’s easy to get turned around in all those hex-trees! A distant icon on the horizon is the most reliable way to keep a perfectly straight search line.
Stop and sweep-scan every 60 or so units to ensure you cover every scrap of ground you cross and always keep an eye out for a non-yellow stem in case you’re lucky enough to spot one from out of scan range. I had no luck scanning from tree tops so I suggest ground level is best plus it gives you a greater chance of spotting an odd-coloured stem.

We’ve done searches on a few of these planets now and it hasn’t been unusual for 20 to 30 minutes of searching to crawl by before we found one. If still no luck, try flying to a new location on the planet and try again.

Hope this helps someone.
Happy hunting.

This is why I only have 3 of these. I scanned for about 30 minutes and finally gave out. :disappointed_relieved: Thanks for the measurement.

Good advice. I also find sweeping around in photo mode set to night time can be helpful in picking out items where there’s a slight colour difference

I saw this a few hours ago, but I couldn’t tell what was changed.

Does anyone have the patch notes, or do the patch notes posted for the experimental cover it? (This was originally posted by @temp )
