Shot in the dark, but the rubix cube has 9 red squares showing. Maybe a rot9 encryption will come into play? I’m just grasping at straws.

The PDF says, “We have extensively tested the amount of light in the testing lab to be sure it is not detrimental to the health of the subject.” I would say there’s a ton of light there, though.

My thinking is that it means something will need a rot9 Caeser cipher to solve it. Red is “rot” in German. 9=the 9 squares showing. I’m probably really reaching, here.
