It’s too late for that…we’re already in the games now. Some of us have been in the hunger for NMS news games since December 2013.

Last day of a month as a release date is always just a placeholder…at most we can suspect that Hello Games might have told Amazon they plan a July release…but it’s not set in stone.

That is also only 1 day away from August so that makes me think the August release date could be correct.

I’m kind of hoping they surprise us with early summer. Maybe they’re certain it will be in July and just used the end of the month. The August anniversary date would no doubt be logical but we can hope for a little surprise earlier in July. If not, we’ll get by…
It is possible that they could release the update BEFORE the release of the Xbox version. This would build up a healthy amount of hype to convince any sceptical Xbox owners to buy it. From a business standpoint, that’s what should be done. Releasing it at the same time as the Xbox version would just risk sales. However, releasing it too much ahead of time is also risky for Xbox sales due to possible bad reviews, watching it on youtube, etc. so a release 1-3 days early is what would be best. If they have a good experienced marketing team(Not Sony’s, I hope) that’s probably what they would do.

Also, please correct me if I am wrong, doesn’t amazon usually use December 31st as a placeholder date for games without a release date? If so, then maybe, just maybe, the update us coming out in July. But that’s a maybe. A big fat maybe. I can’t confirm this without further proof.
I like your video up until the end there where you just go off on multiplayer hype and even hope for full blown MMO and on and on and on…there’s very little info to go on…it’s EXTREMELY unclear what(if anything) will be done about multiplayer/coop going forward…pre-release Sean had always said the goal was for us to be aware if others were around but to not buy this game for multiplayer. I REALLY wouldn’t expect anything more than the current system until and unless Hello Games specifically announce more. Now I definitely think there’s room for improvement in the current system…maybe instead of orbs we could see some kinds of avatars or the way to communicate might be improved but anything in the way of full blown multiplayer I would not expect or hype AT ALL without definite confirmation…this is the kind of nonsense speculation that got out of hand and hurt the initial launch of the game so much.
I am pretty sure that HG said in some way that the current form of multiplayer we have was a stepping stone for things to come. That, coupled with the many mentions of multiplayer in the ARG does make it seem like there will be multiplayer improvements. I seriously doubt it will be expansive, MMO-like multiplayer, but I’d bet on significant improvements of some kind. Like you said though, it’s unclear what direction exactly they’ll take it in.
Even so we have no idea what or how far they can and intend to take multiplayer…like I said there’s certainly room to improve what is there but I wouldn’t fly off the hook and get hyped about what we really know nothing about. Prior to the initial release I’ve seen too many people swear up and down that NMS would certainly have multiplayer even though HG said not to buy the game if you expect multiplayer…those were the same people who were screaming bloody murder about what they were “promised” at launch.
If only you had actually watched the whole video! My only reference to MMO was quoting the wording used on the W/ARE site… I specifically spend the entire end portion giving a VERY clear warning around multiplayer (and that the game will not reach the exact level of the e3 trailers…probably ever).
On multiplayer I clearly say that the game will 100% not be a full blown MMO, not to expect pvp etc. and also that the only thing I think may actually come will be the ability for players to see each other whilst in a single instance of a planet… and even that I clearly say will be limited (most likely server based or capped at a certain number of players like the current multiplayer is).
What if the 10.000 Atlas V4 are meant to get you some exclusive items for the “Next” update?
One thing I haven’t noticed being talked about is the meaning of notes your analysis visor creates.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it is about this:
See the Notes? That say such things as “Parasitic Leaves”, “Multicolor Wood”, “Slowly Rotting”, “Nanite Sap”, “Hallucogenic Bark” and “All Colors”?
I think these things will be implemented in the next update, to create a lot more variety to existing flora. No idea how and in what way, but I’m certain about it. They wouldn’t add in these texts if they weren’t about to do something with them.
Gosh, I can’t wait to hear those trees “faintly singing” (saw such notes on some flora as well).
Apart from that, for the update I predict the “usual” speculation stuff, such as extended multiplayer, fauna and procedural generation overhaul. Hopefully a weather overhaul as well.
Whatever there will be in the update, it absolutely will be enormous. But in order not to overhype things, I simply stick to Cobra’s wishes: Carpets and Curtains.
