Now this has my attention. If Team Mercury abandoned this aspect of their virtual universe, that makes me a little sad…

I have listened to RayRod explain this in the past. HG has not so much abandoned assets. It’s more like there are a ton of assets already there that are simply not being used. This used to fuel many of the speculations about future updates. Those assets are still sitting there. Some have appeared in updates.

I think he was referring to this specifically:

algorithms that make planets more weird the closer you get to the center of the galaxy (realizing a forgotten pre-release concept)

Which, I think is pretty save to say, is an idea HG have abandoned. It wouldn’t really make much sense anymore anyways, seeing as there is no linear journey closer to the center anymore with all the fast-travel going on…

Finally, the long-awaited release for the knowledge tab and cross-save rewards! You’ll also find some basic editing features for companions, among other things.

Notable changes in this pre-release:

  • Updated mapping and database to game version 3.74.
  • Fixed knowledge tab incl. some new information and features.
  • Change the game mode of a slot.
  • Added editing for cross-save rewards, and companions.

Notes about this pre-release:

  • For PlayStation you currently you have to delete or temporarily move/rename the old memory.dat if you want to use the new format, otherwise the old file will be loaded. This will change in the future and the new format be used first if present.

For those unaware, you need to create entries for custom base parts in the BASEBUILDINGAUTOGENERATEDPARTSDATA table

This will prevent the game hanging upon save load.
