From the reported issue here:
I have set up a new experimental build which has MS Game Pass support here:
NMSSaveEditor.zipThere is a known issue with this version, it doesn’t create a backups directory on startup which is needed for any save to work. To get around this, create a folder named “backups” in the same place where you run the editor from and you should be good to go.
Overhauled all dark space variants.
Made vibrant planetary ring colors more rare.

I made a little tool that allows viewing the DDS files inside the cache folder of your saves.
These DDS files are nothing but a byte array of RGBA pixel info. They have no header or footer info at all, and will therefor not open with any standard image application.
The images saved there, are ‘waypoints’ (Discovery) you came across (100x55) as well as your base images made through the Base Computer (768x432)
Thank you! Very interesting. I was just looking at the Cache folder.
The top three entries I intentionally went to in order to see the effects in the Cache folder. So each one takes up 1,296 KB of storage. The last one (oldest) is interesting. I did a Nexus mission to build an underwater base. Claimed the location, built the base, uploaded it, and deleted the base. And the image is still there.
Was curious when the images would show up. I’m on a PC, Steam, Normal. Tried an in-game reload and going back in - nope. Tried quitting to Mode Select - nope. Quit to Desktop, restarted game and the images showed up.
All files except creature and gameplay globals updated for 3.70 update.
The test coverage will be a bit off because the test files haven’t been updated yet, so hopefully this works well!Note: This release (and all subsequent ones) requires .net 5 to run: Download .NET 5.0 Runtime
Updated the globals for this release also now.
Hopefully we should have good file coverage now!Note: This release (and all subsequent ones) requires .net 5 to run: Download .NET 5.0 Runtime

Note that this is specified as a ‘pre-release’ (on github) and so should hopefully only be downloaded by the various tools if you are on the experimental version.
Enjoy!
