NMS Sentinels Update Discussion

Yes. But only when you warp from thw Anomaly. It disappears if you leave the system.

Thanks. That’s probably why I don’t remember it - it’s not there when it would be useful.

There is a really good reason for it to be there and I had to use it once. If you visit one of the featured bases, sometimes you warp into a bad situation. I warped into one base only to find the terrain had filled in and I could not exit thru the door. I was trapped. Then I remembered that strange icon I never use in the Quick Menu. I was very grateful.

My game has bugged at the mission where I’m supposed to acquire a Walker Brain.
Didn’t appear after defeating the walker so I reloaded (at my autosave) & then then the entire walker didn’t appear, leaving me stuck.
Message telling me to aquire the item remains on screen no matter what mission I choose.
I attempted to annoy the Sentinels at a ā€˜pillar’ but even then no walkers ever appear.
Unfortunately I accidentally triggered the hard-save next to the Pillar while fighting so now I don’t have a pre-mission save to resort to…

Hopefully, a bug fix allowing any walker brain to work (including stored) & allows walkers to appear anywhere again…or just a mission restart option.

I think the big walkers appear later now than they used to, only after taking down a couple hardframes.

Is it the Pristine Walker Brain you need? You must install the Paralysis beam or whatever it is called and use it on the chicken walker. It has to be undamaged so you cannot destroy the walker in the usual way.
If the mission is working correctly, you will be directed to a monolith with a walker already waiting for you

Yes, that was first revealed in the Epilogue lore, that you can access if you install the Remembrance

This one didn’t drop anything & susequent attempts to trigger walkers just brings hordes of the new sentinels & ā€˜warnings’ of a walker but none actually appear.

I do need to alter my MT so I have one weapon equipped to fight which includes the new tech. I used a second, less used MT for the tech but reverted back to ā€˜ol faithful’.
I guess I’ll just keep trying.
At least I’m getting practice at fighting these new baddies…

Make sure you paralyze him. I can’t remember if I used a few plasma rounds in between but it was paralyzed when it went down.

Ok thanks @sheralmyst …I’ll do some MT mods, annoy a bunch of sentinels & see if I can get this fixed… hopefully.

my brain was fine, I didn’t paralyze it.

Yes I just watched someone else take down the walker with their ship and it still worked. The key is to go to the site Laylaps sends you to which should be a monolith with a walker sitting beside it.
I love this update but this quest seems to be even more particular about the order of things than others. Most of the steps are opened by speaking to Laylaps and the little bugger runs away every time. I spent half the quest chasing it down.

I don’t think the location matters as I am fairly sure I got mine during a fight at a base. But not 100%.

Laylaps, if you pop in exomech and back out he will be right in front of you.

Yes…it is tempting to use the Paralyser on him.

I did this initially but it didn’t drop the canister. The radar said it was there (cog symbol) but it wasn’t. By reloading my autosave (where I landed nearby) I somehow glitched the Walker into not appearing.

I figured I’d just get another walker since the stored brains in my inventory don’t count.
This resulted in a lot of fighting & then warnings about walkers but then none showing up.
(Then I accidentally over-wrote my pre-mission hardsave by triggering a location save point during battle…oops).

Laylaps only tells me we are good companions or something & doesn’t re-instigate the proper location no matter what type of load I attempt.

Might put in a bug report…

I have paralysed my brain on a regular basis for nearly 70 years. It doesn’t seem to cause any major problems.

Brains are over-rated.

Solved it.

I used a Cartographic Map to locate Manufacturing Facilities, Observatories etc.
They often have Walkers ā€˜parked’ nearby.
Caused a rather large disturbance with many Sentinels quite cranky at me but eventually I aquired a brain & the game ticked over to the next step. I have now finished the mission.
Was a bit nervous for a while there as this is my big hour Legacy Save.
Anyway. All sorted now

Looks nice, stats are nothing special. I’ve seen class C rifles more powerful, and a lot cheaper.

You don’t have to engage in battle royale to find these places. They are randomly scattered through the landscape - you can find them just by flying around, exploring.

Another one.

Odd, there was no mech guarding this one. Does turning off sentinel activity at one nest affect the whole planet?
