NMS NEXT Full Reveal!

The Gek with the players might be an NPC ally?

That’s doubtful…it is everywhere with the other players in the trailer…if you watch the parts when it moves, its movements appear decisive and independent…plus identical chest plate as the orange player and clearly wears a distinctive player backpack.

I think so too. A possible Field Assistant in keeping with the multiple NPC base tech characters already in game.
The matching outfit identifies it as belonging to a particular player.
Just speculating…

Maybe you can direct them via waypoints like most games with NPC followers? I’m thinking with rebalanced systems to account for multiple players gathering and mining resources, people playing by themselves will need something to give them the edge against whatever new balancing is done. A little helper would be a nice touch

if it is a player character the only thing we have to worry about is a legion of gek griefers, due to them being smaller targets and harder to hit :joy: maybe that’s why they have such a vicious back story, HG knew they’d be unleashing an army of Oddjobs from Goldeneye 64 one day

By the way during that sentinel scene did you notice that large grouping of thamium? Some of it might be tiny plutonium I can’t be sure.

Edit: just rechecked, seems like just three thamium and lots if small plutonium, my bad :see_no_evil:

You won’t have to worry about legions as multiplayer is limited to 4…plus you likely have to invite them. But no whisper or footage of PvP makes me think people just read way too much into the preying on others remark…nothing about it mandates it must be referring to PvP.

Yunno I was thinking they are pilot-able too! Look at the back of the middle sentinel, that looks like a square holo door to me lol

Well if it is limited to four then during one scene you can see four travellers and a gek fellow which makes five.

So it’s either NPC or multiplayer will be four player group invite but 16 player max per system as it is with bubbles. So many possibilities :see_no_evil: only one week til we find out :grimacing:

As for pvp I still think the cheeky player in the background using a mining laser and burning base parts is a sly wink to it being possible without promoting the behaviour in the trailer.

It’s the only way my head can make sense of why there are players shooting base parts with mining lasers. I don’t think they’re building with their mining lasers. We seen in one screen a ghost shell for a building peice so building seems to work more or less the same only you place ghost first then I guess players can add materials needed. That’s how it appears to be anyway.

Edit@below : Hang on I’ll get screens. One moment.

@DarthTrethon this one has five, there’s a sneaky fourth traveller hidden away in there  gek is near the guy lasering pipes.

Where do you see four plus the gek? I never see more than four including the gek…what time stamp?

But DON’T expect 16 players…just don’t…that will only end in disappointment. If more players could play together than four they would have shown more than four.

Remember WHOIS GEK still only gets you …

Umm…no…that missing entry has to do with the lore…the Korvax altered them by infusing the gek eggs with nannite clusters, this is what changed their character from brutal killers to more relaxed and peaceful traders…during the story you are told “they did not become good, they became Korvax”…hence no result to the querry WHOIS GEK…because nobody is Gek.

Hmm…

No Hype there, all game play!!!

I’m not expecting 16, just throwing out the possibilities going off what currently exists in game and what we’ve been shown and having fun speculating, I’m fully ready for just four and nothing more. This and the NPC gek thing is just playful speculation while we wait.

@toddumptious Please tell me WHERE is this fifth player you see here?
EDIT: Nevermind missed the 5th.

It may be a player after all…
The Gek crosses the grass towards the blue fighter… which looks to be the ship that leads when they take off across the water.
Unless a sidekick has his own ship, that is a player controlled Gek. :scream:

Yeah, either it’s a player, or HG have developed AI they need to turn over to the government.

Ok so @toddumptious was right…there is actually a fourth normal player character in this screen besides the Gek I missed earlier.

I noticed it when I went to take a close look at those fishfins down the bottom  in wondering if there’s any more people hidden about the trailer

@MacForADay for the gek going across the screen at the start I believe he’s following the character that was ahead at the start but can’t be top sure, also keep in mind how many we see at the start and remember we see another waiting at the hill by some steps who seems to somewhat miss their cue a little :joy:

Whether it’s NPC or player character I am all on board

I will say the Gek still definitely seems like a player…could there be different party caps on PC/PS4 or what are we missing here is unclear. But the Gek sure does not appear to be following any player character and has player gear.

Maybe if you instajoin a party without taking the lengthy portal base claim ship route, you teleport to your friend as a lowly workgek :joy:
