NMS Expeditions

Ok my bad.
Couple of ways to increase standing, save a freighter from pirates and gather those little critters in the wall containers found in some planet-side buildings. And offering gifts like Vy’Keen daggers to Vy’Keen.

I got Rocketman by base jumping on a very mountainous planet with lighter gravity. Was only halfway down by the time I was awarded the badge. Had medium level Movement Module upgrades to help me jump out far enough to clear the slightly tapered sides but it was much easier to accomplish than expected. (Just remember to keep a bit in the jetpack to soften that landing)
Noticed you can actually steer slightly forward as you fall to help keep of the walls as you decend.

O2 recharging while under water is not available in the Quick Menu. Reported.

Got mine during a storm on a hot planet (I think). Was out collecting Storm Crystals and was using the jet pack to get back to my ship. Noticed that the jet pack was remaining full and remember something about it being a feature.

Just completed The Glass Bead. Description should read: Complete Dreams of the Deep quest.
For any working on this, make sure you have a Hypnotic Eye in your pocket. Otherwise, you will have to find another underwater ruin.
I managed to find all of mine on one water world by flying a good distance to a new location after 2 sucessful scans.

I think all of those also just increase standing with the races, not with the guilds?

I had a built up jetpack and started from a top of a mountain on an extreme hot planet. The jetpack maintains its charge longer in that environment.

I was still going strong at 30 seconds. So, probably didn’t need all of the upgrades.

My save file has not been overwritten with over a day since I completed the expedition.

Perhaps, you ran into a unique bug?

Well, could always have been me…

I think that offering gifts (Korvax casing , e.g.) just increase faction standing, not Guild standing.

Wait, it looks like now after 3.34 dropped on GoG, Guild missions are a lot more frequent again!

yes yes…just call me tired…I had a system that was not giving me any guild missions only standing missions. So I was thinking standing…it was the first time I had that happen but it was likely due to the fact that I shot up about 6 Vy’Keen fleets looking for the modules to upgrade my Freighter. I guess I had negative standing.

I’m so glad I’m not the only one who feels this way. I know they’re only cartoon characters, but it still feels wrong and immoral to kill the helpless and the harmless for no reason at all.

Well, I completely finished the 1st Expedition.

The entire process took just over 40 hours but admittedly, my 2 bases are just hobo camps. Had a lot of fun with this new style of start up.

I gave away a bunch of my rewards at the Anomoly to hopefully assist others & in a strange Karma type of way, I got rewarded for being generous:
You see, I experienced a crash at the Anomoly just as I left, after receiving the Golden ship. So I reloaded & discovered 60 or so Salvaged Technology Modules had vanished so couldn’t replace all the base tech I’d just bought.
Slightly annoyed, I reclaimed my Golden fighter & left. Low & behold sitting in my freighter were now2 Golden fighters. Feeling a bit curious I went back & sure enough I was given a 3rd Goldy.
Just to experiment, I scrapped 1 & I could once again claim another. (So I’ve technically had 4)
Not one to overwork glitchy exploits, I left with 3 of the Golden fighters to get a few cool photos & as compensation for my vanished Salvaged Technology Modules.

EDIT: I have since found out that this duplication glitch is a known thing & not a unique circumstance. Always fun to stumble over one on your own though.

For those who want help finding an Abandoned System, install the conflict and economy scanners so you can open the info panel on a system in the Galaxy Map. Look for a system that has a race but no other info

I was collecting larval cores for the nest raider achievement. I had developed a slick technique - park my ship close by, laser the whispering egg, grab the core, and get back into my ship before the Horrors could react.

It worked fine for 29 cores.

But I hadn’t accounted for the achievement splash screen - which freezes your character and your controls - but doesn’t stop the rest of the game.

As I grabbed the 30th core, the notice came up, the music played, and I stood there, helpless and paralysed for the 10 second announcement, while the Horrors gleefully ate me.

I am now “Polyphemus The Consumed”.

I earned ‘The Frozen’ title when my ship vanished & left me to freeze to death on a derilict freighter.
