Nms echoes (update discussion)

When I see it in law I can’t help but pronounce it like a french word.

“Buggery, not defined in the text of legislation”. Ah, a loosely worded document condemning… whatever strikes the most fear in people… Good to know nothings changed

Tories should be signing in the Wokery act of 2023 any day now  Just don’t ask them to define woke. That’s for their constituents to figure out. Whatever it is, apparently it’s scary

Theres actually a section in our Diaspora museum about the people imprisoned and deported due to “sodomy” and “buggery” laws set down by the crown from 1861, or you know, just being gay at the wrong time in history.

(the 1861 law was significant in that it removed the death penalty tied to such offences and reduced them to a lovely holiday to Australia, which thankfully ended i think 10 years later, the sending em to australia part…)

Actually, whilst, by its nature, the 1533 Act applies only to men, it doesn’t specify homosexuals, and applied equally to relations with women or even animals.

The purpose of the 1533 Act was to remove the immunity the Church and its members had previously enjoyed. Before that, the Bishops decided what was illegal - so what was illegal between consenting heterosexual adults, was acceptable between, say, Priests and small boys.

There are parts of the world where that’s still true.

Well dammit. Just got my RAM in for my new PC and stepped outside and got stung by a red wasp on the end of my little finger on my right hand and yes, I am right handed and now my finger and the side of my hand is swollen and IT HURTS LIKE MAD!!! Which is what I am. MAD! DEATH TO ALL RED WASPS!!!

Sorry, what is a red wasp? We don’t have them here in the Old World. We just have the brown and yellow kind.

I look forward to the construction and delivery of your new finger, so you can finally use that new PC, finally!

Red wasps are a type of paper wasp. They are social and territorial and therefore more aggressive. When I was growing up we would ignore the black and brown wasps and they would go about their business (ridding us of other bugs), but the red ones were easy to provoke and as @sheralmyst said, they hurt. I moved west and don’t have those very often. Now it is mostly hornets.

Bugger vs. Booger…

I was trying to be facetiously funny.

Interesting off-topic discussion, though, along with @sheralmyst hornets & wasps.

As a kid I got a plastic long-batteled 4-shooter (of thick elastic bands) pistol earned from cereal box tops. I delighted in killing black hornets that had gotten inside upstairs.

If course, when I missed… Run time!

Sorry, if I missed it, is there a solution to no ship spawning for the salvage mission to get the third part of the Autophage staff? The target location looks like a new player start location (a crash site where it says “iteration” and “broadcast” in the dialog) with the mission marker but no wreck. I ran the scanner but not even an invisible ship was revealed.
I also went far away to get a new location and the new spot was equally empty.

Not sure if same mission but I had an issue with needing to scrap a ship that wasnt there, I just went and found another ship to scrap and this worked. The game checks for the value of ship scrap in your inventory so sometimes scrapping one ship will also allow you to hand in other autophage scrap requests later instantaneously.

(sorry i see you tried another site, maybe try a different planet or system and use emergency chart again)

For the first missing ship that I ran into I just went to the station and bought a ship to scrap. If you have an economy scanner you could find a trading post to save the trip to the station. Now I scrap a ship ahead of time and can satisfy several missions immediately.

Yup, that worked, thanks!

I abandoned the mission then picked it up again and it sent me to a different location with a ship

I love a humorous bug submission (for Steam Deck)…

Maximise your starship’s capabilities by diverting power to engines , shields , or weapons – depending on your current combat situation. Supercharge your engines to close in on your enemies at top speed, then obliterate them with max-powered weapons!

I just realised I never did this, or figured out how to even do it. Has anyone? Feels weird asking that question in the most pacifist NMS community I know of. Fully open to the possibility none of us have tried it yet and we’re in a very prestigous club

I think the default key mapping is - (right next to , and . which serve as previous/next target), but I’m not sure, because I immedately remapped it to f, which currently doesn’t do anything while flying a ship and I can conveniently press without relocating my right hand.

With a controller, on PS5 at least, it is either left on the D pad or left on the left stick depending on if I am in VR or not. I think it replaces the previous target button. I never remember it during battle but it is good when flying where my fastest ship will go from 300 + something to over 400u/s.

Edit: It is the up D pad on the PS5 controller when not in VR. I was remembering the button that brings up the HUD (and selects the previous target as well).
