Nms echoes (update discussion)

It’s a bug, since that’s not the Autophage language

Ok thanks.
I wasn’t able to get anything but an Inverted Mirror (& I was unaware you could check beforehand) so I’d given up… Much appreciated. I’ll update my previous post to guide folks to your post :grinning:

Apparently dissonent systems won’t show up if you are in relaxed or creative mode
And you must have a conflict scanner installed

That’s one of those solutions that’s so simple and so obvious that I bet 99% of us (myself included) didn’t think of trying it. It’s actually quite brilliant. Thank you.

Thanks all. My inventory was overflowing with junk, most of which I didn’t remember what it does. So, er, well… I might have sold the whole lot at the first terminal I found. Ah well.

Star seeds and remembrance I might have moved somewhere, otherwise easy enough to make some.

with all the storage we have now, I put a stack of everything away in case…
It has been very useful several times. I have one storage labeled Oddities. I place all the leftover bits from missions in there.

I know I should have done that. But I was standing next to a terminal weighed down with a bunch of junk I’d picked up over time and my storage is on a base I couldn’t remember the name of. I kinda knew I’d regret it…but not really. Some it is from missions I’ve completed, but I no longer can remember what is useful and what isn’t.

I’ll have to build some storage space on my old style freighter.

I’ve also noticed the Autophage heads, not counting the Singularity rewards… There are 16 of them

Their signal cut off as they were surrounded by strange figures they described as having ‘seeds of glass’ within their skin.

Sixteen – kktkttkzkt – worn your face, it – kzkt – please, not yet… I’m not – kkttkktzzt –

Saw this yesterday posted by an american youtuber with no source, noticed the phrasing and thought “This sounds pretty Irish, wonder who they stole it from”.

I recognise acoupleofirishfolk from waking titan. They sent me some reddit gold when they saw my name pop up on the final stream (father ted reference, but lets not talk about Glinner)

The use of the term “Bugger” certainly suggests a non-american source, yes

I finally found a crash site with a ship

Must have been a mid-air collision

It was more the phrase “use this thing” and the use of Robo “lads”.

While “lads” is probably more common UK vernacular, it’s use in the sentence just felt more how I would use it '^_ ^

Bugger is a lot more british than irish so I would also stab a guess they might be a bit more on the northern side of the island

Y’all are certainly perceptive buggers.

(I often wish that Sentinels would just bugger off!)

Buggers became fairly popular after that Tomb Raider movie

I remember some 30 years ago, after an incident of schoolkid playground language, having to explain to my then 7 year old daughter, what a bugger actually was.

I’m fairly sure it was more difficult for me than for her.

Bugger = Booger with U ?

I recall 2nd grade argument with a teacher when I insisted that “Damn” was not swearing! Ah the memories.

I blew up a dreadnaught on steam deck :muscle:

I now have a couple of pirate frigates.

I’ve often wondered about this one.

Until fairly recently, buggery was a sexual offence that could see the participants jailed.

However, in Britain, we also have a folk tradition of a dangerous monster, the “Bogeyman”. I’ve noticed that the same folk tales seem to have travelled to the U.S., but there he’s called the “Boogerman”.

To the best of my (albeit, limited) knowledge, there’s no connection in the British tradition between the Bogeyman and buggery. But who knows? Go back a thousand years, and both could just be veiled references to what was considered ungodly and unacceptable behaviour.

according to Merriam, the meaning is very dependent on the use. Never seen a word be so varied in meaning. Probably best to avoid it altogether lest someone mistake what you mean

Getting back on topic, I had to salvage the ship on Steam Deck and again, it was missing. So I abandoned the mission and restarted it. It sent me to an actual ship the 2nd time.

Colloquially, yes. However, in England, the term had (and still has) a legal definition. So however colloquial usage may wander with time and place, the actual legal definition is:
