I really don’t mind if things are delayed. Any disappointment would be short-lived though, as I believe they’re perfectionists and it’ll all be worth the wait in the end. For them, the game is clearly a labour of love and if it is delayed for any reason, I’m sure they’d mention that too but not until the summer fades to autumn. They’ve many challenges with this update it seems to me, VR, Vulcan, multi-play and the game design itself of course.
The VR manufacturers and supporters are probably pushing for any game to be a success, so VR will actually become more mainstream. So there is a lot riding on Beyond to succeed in that market and make VR sales more competitive if it takes off.
Is experimental stable? I tried it as an…ahem…experiment because I’d never downloaded the experimental branch before and imediately got crashes when i’d warp from planet to planet. I quickly went back to the regular, non vulkan, game figuring i’ll just wait.
Not stable. I have items that are there and then not there…still some issues in photo mode. It does not function in Linux at all. It did at first and then quit. Performance was much improved in Windows and then dropped back to its previous levels. A few things have fixed like the terrain glitching which happened when tessellation was on. All in all, it is very confusing. A number of people in the Steam forums have stated that it seems HG turned some things on in Vulcan and then turned them back off. At least the super shiny business is gone. That was really, really bad.
I have to admit, I am a bit concerned. Just hoping all is well and HG is just keeping the update as big a surprise as possible.
I have it on good authority Beyond will be released on the 16th of August, or before, or after, but definitely summer 2019, or maybe 2020, unless it’s autumn or winter, winter here is summer somewhere, so I’m confident it’ll happen then or not, time is a construct, or it isn’t, I like pancakes.
Asked about a PS4 copy at my local Gamestop yesterday. They didn’t seem to now anything about a physical release and obviously were not taking preorders. The guy did say that there are times when games just show up to the stores with no preorder campaign.
One strange difference I have with photo mode on Experimental. is no more select photos to upload after each session. They are still uploadable from your steam screenshot area. I still have the setting selected in steam to get that upload notice, but does not happen with EXP.
I was given a similar response this week when I inquired at my local Gamestop. I knew the employee was genuine, because he got very excited about the update he knew nothing about and grilled me for 10 minutes about the specifics.
1 is a point, beginning but nothing else around it, nothing comparable to it from the right left up or down back or forward so no row possible. Ask Emily!
