NEXT First Impressions

Generally once sentinel ships show up you’re screwed because, in my experience, they’re incredibly difficult to outrun and they wear you down with numbers.

Being at the far end of the 3rd universe I wasn’t really expecting an in-game visitor anytime soon and when one turned up, sadly instead of going for the thumbs-up gesture I blasted them with the plasma launcher. Announcement shortly after said ‘bosu_neko’ had left my game. So, sorry about that, whoever you are.

I wish they had overhauled technologies and resources incrementally through periodic updates rather than all at once. I too am a bit overwhealmed. I used my saved game on pc to try it out. May just start a new game just to learn it all again before proceeding further.

Edit: SP

Go look him up in Steam or PS4 fora to see if he’s there

Makes me insane that they switched the save order. I know they switched it, and yet I click the wrong one, over and over. :sob:

Does anybody play the Artemis or Atlas paths on a new save?
I think I’m done with the tutorials and expected either Atlas or Artemis to start… but… nothing?

I like how you mention enjoying the first 30 minutes of game. I did as well and had to create a gameplay video focusing on that. This is my first 30-40 minutes in my first new Normal Save for No Man’s Sky NEXT. Absolutely love the music for each moment that happens.

Farmimg seems to be a lot more difficult and tedious.

You can build your own terminal outside their base radius and build rather close and also build inside theirs when in same lobby/party

I started an new save to work through all the changes and have just been speechless.

I am a Gek

Here is my starting base.

I have butterflies on my planet

Some of the plants are huge

And last but not least this is looking at the ringed planet in the system from my first base planet.

I am having a hard time getting anything done because I just want to walk around and look at everything.

Amazing, wonderful, awesome just don’t do No Man’s Sky NEXT justice.

First impressions are mostly great, with one gripe.

First off, I had no crashes, no bugs, no nothing. Game runs smoother than before while looking better. Guess I’m one of the lucky ones, but then again I don’t have multiplayer and I started a new game. New hazardous plants are great, though I feel like they should not show up on the visor in survival mode.
Managed to repair my ship without dying in the first go, but only because that storm subsided when it did. I was a long way from shelter, there were no caves around and the storm was eating through my sodium faster than I could pick it up. It literally blew past seconds before my expiration. Great moment!

There’s one thing I’m developing a gripe about, which is the terrain manipulator. It eats through fuel so fast that I’m basically having to weigh the cost of all resources from deposits by the time it takes to mine the ferrite dust needed to mine the other stuff.
It’s possible that there’s things that can alleviate that. I haven’t been to a trading post yet, if they sell ferrite dust or pure ferrite in sufficient quantities that would be a decent solution. Right now I’m spending most of my playtime gathering dust, so to speak…

Sat here in my wooden cabin watching rare Wateroweneous & Bogoodia hunt for food along the shoreline of the moonlit lake and I’m thinking about what an incredible technical achievement the original NMS was and how it has been rendered into something truly wondrous with the release of NEXT.

What a moment for Sean Murray and his team.

I have now completely initialised my PS4 and done a complete reinstall of NMS, in 1.5 and added a month old 700+ hour save with fantastic results.
It would seem a corrupted memory issue deep in my PS4’s brain has been the reason for my various crashes and my disastrous start in NEXT.

I post this here so that anyone else suffering from repeat lag issues or a CE-34878-0 error code then perhaps biting the bullet and doing this may help you. I had tried the uninstall-reinstall before but it seems the only way to fix this was a complete FULL initialisation of my PS4.

Avoid the “Whispering Eggs”. I found about 15 Corvex Cubes in a cave and about 30 Navigational Data Cubes just lying on the surface in a bunch.

I plan on exploring the outer edges of the galaxy…until GoG delivers the multiplayer version. Then I’ll venture towards the ETARC Hub! -)

Unfortunately, I forgot how to take screenshots in NMS… ???

Thats good to hear/read! Glad you got it sorted and thanks for explaining how - I have a 700+ that I’ve not dared to load yet. I really need to offload my screenshots and might just go all the way with a full format/initialistion/re-install - NOT forgetting to backup my saves!

Is it easier to stay in one place and shoot them?

This is pure genius!

I’m on PC (Steam) and discovery services are still offline? What gives?

Multiplayer works great but discoveries are not syncing at all, it seems.

It says offline for me as well, but when rebooting the game my previous uploads have been registered, at least as per the discoveries tab.

Maybe this is a meta-lore thing, where Emily is technically “dead”?

Why is it genius?
