haha you look like a snappie waiting under camouflage ![]()

Wow! So you’re base basically disappeared… did you try the re-spawning of your base as SM tweeted about?
Ah okay, I thought they just made the korvax giants cos they always were a little taller than everyone else XD I even got a Gek friend to stand next to him (except on their end my freighter was manned by Vy’keen)
I’ve had that no ship in freighter issue but I thought it was only happening when I was in a party and was to make sure my freighter was fully accessible to party. Guess it’s just glitchy like ya said cos I only noticed my ships back when reloaded a save on my freighter but thought it was just from going into solo play.
I haven’t really done much base building yet so can’t for sure say what’s happening but I have gotten new recipes and blueprints from manufac and operation buildings.
Get the weird audio stutters but so few and far between I can ignore them and pretend it’s just kzzkt but audible, we are now in the last ten minutes of the atlas’s life after all
laughing… Dying…
My discoveries menu is currently a localised cache of old discoveries, some have their old names, others have completely new names (planets mostly) and systems either have old name or original name. Online services were down all day yesterday so I didn’t upload ANYTHINF just in case it was just weird cache conflict with new update, gonna wait to see if online services going back up makes my discovery list a bit less, chaotic.
@Mad-Hatter nice little shack, will miss the old base but here’s hoping you find another wild raging planet to recover it on via legacy retrieval thingy ![]()
Did you notice those floating crystals give different items per crystal?
Well, without reading the above. My first impressions are as follows.
First place I started has no space station so I go to my freighter and quickly figure out the console and go to jump console it crashes (most likely all the new shaders)
I load again and this time it’s running smoothly at 60 fps allways (normally averaged 45) GREAT!
I attempted to jump and realized the update emptied all my hyper Drives. Which was no problem because the update for whatever reason gave me 978,000,000u I originally had somewhere around 110,000,000. I finally find all resources needed for one Hyperdrive canister which gave me 5 jumps. I quickly mark my home system and jump there…my base is gone. (Can’t figure out if we can get mats back?)
My planet which was once a beautiful land scape is now a mega ocean. It’s cool that we can swim forever with kelp. But eventually I die… because I had no thrusters to take off. And my planet has nothing to make anything with.
So many new mats are confusing the heck out of me. But that’s cool cause everything is beautiful… except clouds are blurry as all get out(only visual complaint)
But all in all it seems like we have alot to relearn cause this is the worst performance of my NMS career.
I also don’t understand why we can’t find portals with the signal booster anymore. That’s kinda saddening. I can’t find my portal.
But don’t get me wrong…I LOVE IT!
I’m having trouble working out how to re-upgrade everything.
But other than that, EVERYTHING IS AWESOME!!!
Multiplayer on PC is working great! Just had a lovely time with @Polyphemus in his starter system. Came there by choosing “Join another player” option at the start menu. I think he went away from his computer or something since he, after a while, maybe of boredom of having me around, just stood there silently, gazing off into the distance.
I snuck up on him and took a selfie of both of us. I hope you don’t mind any privacy infringements Mr. Poly! ![]()
No. The only thing I get is an option to pick up the base computer or the standard upload delete and leave options.
No sign of a blueprint analyse.
Just never found the option to do it. I just built myself a basic cabin (its a bit bigger now with a teleporter
) with just the bare essentials for a base while I get myself better prepared.
No I only shot one. Same as the organic rocks. That killed something because it gave me mordite.
At least I’m still alive. Not really sure what I do now or how the A,B,S,S modules work (or much else for that matter) but I’m very happy to still be able to use NMS.
If you’d seen what it was doing this morning you’d have thought the game was a complete wreck.
Started a new game, haven’t tried the old save yet. Started on a lightly toxic planet, discovered one of the new hazardous plants (little toxin-emitting puffballs) found a cluster of gravitinos (the sentient plant variety, they look better and more alien), ran from the cops, found some “metal fingers”, these weird formations made of gold, and made my way off planet to a very pleasant little lush moon where I had my first real “walking through the forest” moment of NMS. So far I’m loving this update, everything feels deeper and more complex, it’s absolutely stunning and it is packed with little touches that aren’t outlined in the patch notes. Haven’t encountered any major bugs or crashes, ~3 hours in on an old PS4.
Sounds almost identical to my journey so far but swapping the walk in the forest moment for a space-station visit where I began to question my in-game orientation (avatar customisation
)… And like you, on a 4 year old PS4 which with this weather we’re having sounds like it wants to blast off to become a Myriad satellite! Still going strong with original DS4 too although left stick sometimes has a mind of its own
My biggest problem is that the update didn’t include a ‘get out of real-life’ redemption code! ![]()
Still have my old DS4 too! Had to take the pins out of the triggers and the covers on the thumbsticks are in tatters but still going strong! And I sympathize, i won’t have time to get back to the game until this weekend and it’s killing me!
First impressions, on ps4 pro this game is even more gorgeous. The expected bugs mean Im going to wait till the patch drops with fixes and reload my pre next save. (wasted 11k nanites on modules that disappear when the game crashes among other things) But hey, very impressive.
I like most that i felt like a complete noob when i started my new game and also how base building is so free now its like ark all i can say is im going to be making some crazy bases
Has anyone been in a good dogfight yet? Or should we just GTFO when sentinel ships show up?
Not sentinels, but I battled a few pirates with a C-class fighter w/o any weapon upgrades (did have a C-class armor upgrade though).
The AI is changed so that when under attack, ships make crazy spiralling barrel rolls without changing flight path too much, it’s like those poor pilots exert 9g-forces easily ![]()
Level of difficulty? meh… I took down a squadron of like 4 attacking ships with said fighter, so no - it’s not difficult. Maybe sentinels are harder?
That sounds promising, the space combat felt artificially difficult in 1.3; do you find it more fun now?
Actually it depends on what you are doing as well here… it seems like Hello Games were expecting you to have velocity forward while dogfighting, and if you do that then it does become harder since you are forcing the AI to move it’s ships around as well.
However - if you stand still with your ship, the AI’s ships attain some sort of minimal velocity and fly around you and it becomes much easier to shoot them down.
It should really be the opposite if you ask me. If you stand still the other ships would also try to stand still outside of your cone of fire and just hammer you hard, but instead they fly directly in front of your ship (in your line of fire) and try to shoot you form there.
We should spam the Hello Games zendesk with this so that they make an effort to produce better AI’s…
Fate or what I don’t know but I was scanning for contacts because I felt like it and found a system. I go there, and none of the planets are discovered. Then I scan and see one “paradise world.”
So, I thought I’d land but first I scanned the other planets. There’s two normal-ish planets so I turn to the last planet, which is super far from me, and scan it. Then I realize that it may be unusual and fly to it.
Unfortunatly yes
I was hoping i’d be able to build a base not too far away to the one of a friend but no.
I don’t know if it’s a coop specification or not. The problem is if some people really want to bother players, they just have to claim bases every planet they go. The computer isn’t expensive so it’s not a big trouble… You can totally close systems in doing so.
