Oh yeah, I think we can change our body style too with this update!

Have fun!

Got my companion robot, but don’t know how to summon it lol.
The body shape changer is awesome.
The community event to kill sentinels is fun.
Great new statues for our bases.
Looks like some even nicer graphics updates too. Going back to explore and kill sentinels because I must have that new helmet from last week!

We’ve been sorta hijacking the steam experimental updates thread to let people know the official patches have arrived to console etc, just so as not to muddy the place up with a new thread for every incrimental patch.

Or at least that’s what my insecurities have been leading me to do

I’d been holding off on playing the game for about a week now while waiting for this update, spiderman was a good distraction as I wasny expecting the update for week three event to arrive so close to week four starting.

Can’t wait to dive back in

So it’s finally life? They just decided to skip one week, then

Im not sure if this was already pointed out in the experimental branch thread but I just noticed one of my favourite little additions to the latest patch, one I don’t think was mentioned in the notes.

When you teleport to a base now, you don’t appear at the base computer but at the teleporter itself as one would expect.

No more underwater glitchy load ins for us @DevilinPixy

I wonder now, can we still teleport to bases we’ve yet to build a teleporter to and thusly spawn beside a base computer, or has that been taken out? Will test as soon as I’m able but hoping it’s the former.

I’ve heard it’s at the computer, but haven’t tested either

  • Fixed an issue that caused players with Teleporters to be returned to their Base Computer instead of the Teleporter Terminal.

Would indeed be interesting to know what happens when not having a teleporter. Even more so because of the below fix. Would make visiting ‘existing’ entries kinda hard and not sure how this works with the base gone.

  • Fixed an issue that prevented deleted bases from being cleared out from the teleporter list. Any new deleted bases will be automatically removed. Existing entries may have to be visited to successfully be removed from the list.

On my skybase 1.6 has nerfed the build menu, I assume as I’m too high now…seems the game imitates life  Solid update though, seems to be all coming together now

For the GOG PC version (remember, no multiplayer for GOG PC versions!), the 1.60 update was only 163mb.

Patch size has got mostly to do with how the data packages and textures are compiled, which again depends a lot on a systems architecture. For consoles you probably have to compile a lot of resources diretcly into the executable, which results in huge files, and they have to be swapped out. Patching in the sense of “going into a file and replacing data” isn’t really done anymore today because it’s messy and has a higher failure rate than just swapping files out.
I’m not quite sure why patch sizes for steam and GoG would be very different, though. The steam executable is probably a bit larger because multiplayer and the Steam API compiled into it, but that shouldn’t account for much more than a few megabytes. But then again, I have no idea how large the steam patch was.
