The first thing I did was a lyrics search, but I couldn’t find anything - which is why I’ve been trying to put them together myself.

“Small Prophets” is the latesst offering from Mackenzie Crook -who is the Writer, Director, and also one of the main actors. I fell in love with his work with “Detectorists”. It’s gentle, whimsical humour, whilst at the same time being incredibly insightful. I think the guy’s a genius.

“Small Prophets” is a slow burner. There’s no wild action or excessive drama, and the complexity builds gradually. Every character is exquisitely drawn. I have found it rewarding to record the episodes - they’re full of small details that only assume importance much later, so they’re easy to miss.

Highly recommended.

Already started it and all I can say is, as soon as I can, I’m treating myself to a shirt made out of the finest frelluple silk.

Still on the first episode. He brought up underwater welding. Which is one of my favourite graphic novel shorts, I wonder if it’s an inspirational nod as I’m already seeing some parallels in the themes. That would be my first question to Mackenzie. “Hey, did you read underwater welder and if you haven’t you absolutely should”

The story explores themes dealing with the relationship between father and sons and memory and reality.
