Yeah maybe the will. I think droppods are a necessity due to other incomplete game features. Droppods make no sense really when you think about it. Atleast not so many. In some cases I find more droppods than trees. XD
It would be fine if they just remove the droppods entirely or use them for something else and move the suit-upgrade to a special kind of vendor or something. Just like they have done with the blueprints and MT’s. Makes more sense tbh.
I’ve noticed a few things about the satcom site I thought I’d share.
The “uplink app activity” meter does just that. I’ve been moving back and forth between the uplink app and the satcom site, and it seem to be tracking in real-time. It seems like I can cause a dot to move across the screen by viewing one of hidden files, specifically:
I will try decrypting a file next to see what happens. On a side note, when one of the dots moves off screen the small red meter in the bottom left corner fills a small amount.
I admit this could be coincidence, so I will be testing it further.
So it took me FOREVER to catch this, but there is a small white pulse that appears on the map from time to time. You can see it off the western coast of African here:
Yes i always thought that when someone connect to the app, a red dot appear. And if he’s opening a node, depending of rare, epic etc… the same color dot appeas too.
Sooo… is the state of the meter persistent over multiple sessions, or does it get reset when you close the browser?
If the first, I guess trying to fill up the meter might be worth trying. Would be kind of really boring busy-work not quite fitting the ARG, though. Might be worth writing a bot…
@jedidia the meter does not reset when closing the browser. It seems to be linked to the satcom site, not the individual user. I have seen it react when I’ve done nothing to activate it (I assume this is someone else using the app).
I do think there might be something to “filling the meter”. I’m not sure if it would unlock anything though. It might not be activated, as in it won’t be used until the next puzzle is released. Logically, the only time there would be enough people the fill that meter is immediately after a puzzle drops, when there is a burst of activity. I would bet it filled at some point during the last puzzle. I’m predicting we will see a few more of those node puzzles in the near future, and perhaps filling that meter may unlock something.
Hmmm… I’m afraid I can’t quite confirm. While I think there is a relation between the nodes I choose and the dots appearing, there seems to be a random time delay. Also, the colors of the nodes don’t necessarily match the colors of the dots appearing. It’s really difficult to say, because I can’t know who else is monkeying around there right now. But judging by the fact that currently nothing seems to happen unless I trigger some nodes, I’d say there’s a high probability that there is a connection, but it’s not an immediate reaction.
Also, the meter isn’t a bar that fills up. It goes up when a blip appears, then falls down again. The only way it’s going to hit the top is by a concerted effort of quite a few people triggering a lot of nodes in the same timeframe. Since there’s a random time delay, it’s more important that it’s a lot of people rather than walking through nodes fast. There needs to be a constant stream to increase the chances of a lot of nodes appearing at the same time.
In other words, it’s not the mind-numbing grind of just doing a repetative task to fill up the bar (ironic glance at E:D ). It’s a question of organisation. Which would, of course, fit the ARG a lot better.
I’m not an organiser and also not resident to a timezone that is very well represented in the ARG, so I’m not going to dig into this. Nor would I want to be held accountable if someone organises a hundred people at the same time and nothing happens, so I’m not going to make any recommendations. SOmething might happen when that bar hits the top, or it might not. Try at your own risk…
