Help a fellow Traveller

 That is exactly what I meant with the base sharing and gas harvesters. Let me describe a bid deeper : I will also set up the automated mining units on the planets with ore deposits near the portal or base.

If you plan it correctly, you can rotate 2 portal addresses that complement your home planet for creating fusion igniters or stasis capsules for a regular flow of multiple 18 M items.

I also, do not envy your glitch-state, especially having seen it a few times personally. Lets hope that the NEXT update works it out.

Hey interlopers,

  1. When you go to start up a portal and before you can put glyphs in you get “ANOMALY! ANOMALY! ANOMALY! ANOMALY!”, Does that glitch the address so even though you have put in the right glyphs in the right order, you end up somewhere else?

I found a booster address on Reddit for an S-Class Rasamama with a domed cockpit that I’m searching for. I typed the correct co-ords into the converter at Pilgrim Star and got a set of glyphs, which when I added them to the portal interface (while that "Anomaly" thing was there), it took me to a completely new system, undiscovered. Thinking that was strange, I put a booster down and it showed me a different address.
Any ideas?

Also,
2. As soon as I put down an exo-pad and a beacon (I always mark Portals with a beacon), it suddenly let me see the planet I was on in Discoveries and I could name it and upload the stuff I scanned.

I don’t remember that ever happening before. Anyone else have that experience?

I think you get weird messages anytime you power up a portal.
It’s the red banner message across the screen that informs you of a corrupt address that indicates you will pop out somewhere different to where you thought you might.
Often addresses are wrong plus it’s possible the coordinates you translated had a typo.

As for scanning stuff after going through a portal but only seeing it in your discoveries after building an exo…I have no info. Will be interested to see what others say.

My investigation into a gas harvester on an exotic planet yielded a strange result. It seems that it wants to make a “+3 Big Ball” that will never finish. I am curious if anyone else that tries this will duplicate this result or have a different strange product.

:grimacing: @LordMarkov That’s just strange.
Interesting but strange. Looks like a collection of icons overlayed in the one icon square.
Next time I get a chance, I’ll build one myself & post the results.

Thanks for the reply.

Yeah there was no red text warning after entering the glyphs. That was why I was so surprised at the change.

Today (if i get my work finished early enough) I will retry inputting the glyphs to see if it still takes me back to the same planet or to another one. And I will take note of the warning message to see if it changes or not.

Question: When you scan for Habitable Bases, is the first one that shows up the closest? My first step was to find a Portal then, make sure it worked, then scan for Habitable Base. I scanned at least a dozen times and each scan revealed a base further than my first scan. I decided 10 hours was as close as I could find. Since then, I have been to at least 140 POI’s on my planet and have found bases closer to the portal than the one I chose. Now I have Travellers visiting my base wondering why I didn’t choose a closer one…bummer.

I have found that the first scan isn’t always the closest location. The base I have on my main save is a 4 minute walk from the portal but the first scan I did showed one 8 hours away. I scanned about 10 times before I found the one I have lol.

No the first scan is not necessarily the closer one and quite often its an hour away.
Multiple scans and using beacons to mark potential bases is the safe bet. Find one close enough to be feesible and claim it.
Don’t forget to mark your portal with a beacon so YOU can find it once its activated and also remember to make a new beacon at your new base after claiming it so that others can see your beacon as the first one will be invisible to others.

Well, after the NEXT update I imagine I will move anyway so maybe I will do some fly-overs instead of relying on the Signal Booster alone…unless that changes as well. In fact, I think I will build my own players guide NEXT time around…thanks.

Given the amount of Q&A that bounces around regarding NMS, that may be an outstanding idea.
I’ll take one

Cobra is currently discussing server issues. Has anyone noticed things a little off? I did notice that @kliktrak left me a comm yesterday but, it was not visible to me when I went there. So there is discussion about server work in prep to NEXT. I also had issues at my base with pieces of my base shifted and gaps between the pieces like there had been an earthquake.

They could very well be working on the servers in prep for Next! I also noticed my base has been shifted around a bit and all new discoveries are staying yellow. So they aren’t uploading right now for me

Old discoveries (red) took ages to sync & more notably, all flora & fauna discoveries on my home base planet reset back as undiscovered. Something is going on

For about the last day or two nothing has been uploading to the servers. That seems to have been rectified today.

I have had comm balls disappear on me after placing them walking away, coming back and they’ve vanished! It was right next to a portal so don’t no if this a common problem when placing them next to one?

Anyone know if you can see or access another player’s Atmospheric harvesters?

No you can’t.
If you’re setting up a portal network for them you can use the same planets, but you have to make your own.

Thank you. I notice that the exopad and beacons I put down for guests to use also don’t show up for other players (Mal just tested it for me). :`(
