Gek systems have economy scanners.
I’m sure your right as I thought I’d heard that before, so been to about 5 or 6 different Gek systems looking for the scanner but nobody has one! I have a threat level scanner, just desperet to gat the economy one!
Maybe you could also look on the missions board, sometimes it is also given when you complete a mission, for the Gek or the Merchants Guild…
Maybe on Monday I will get my NEW laptop.
Good morning guys!
Just a question.
Is it normal that when I use bombs on Iron rocks, it just “swallows” it and makes a hole on the ground without giving me nothing?
Thanks guys, and have a nice week!
That used to be working, but after the latest update it was changed . Now the tool is more used for making instant shelter to hide in when it’s bad weather or bombing doors open, or defend yourself against mad animals… There is also a glitch: after using it, sometimes when you then want to shoot something, it throws another bomb in the ground…
It is also good for blasting your way out of a cave if you get lost or back to the surface should you fall through the terrain.
it is best to use your craft
maybe I will maybe i won’t get my laptop tomorrow, ya know how sled dogs are not the fastest way to move stuff!!!
Can anyone confirm that the following statement is true in regards to harvesting gasses?
“Hot/dry planets yield Sulphurine, Radioactive planets yield Radon, and Lush Green, Rainy and/or Toxic (mine) planets yield Nitrogen”. Travelecho.
Mrs Mad Hatter is obsessed with making expensive devices but trial and error building of Atmosphere Harvesters is very hard on resources since you don’t get them back upon dismantling.
Given the harvester charge bug, if the above statement is indeed fact, then sourcing a system with the appropriate collection of planets so one doesn’t have to leave the system, will make life much simpler. Thanks in advance.
I am on a toxic planet and it does yield nitrogen. Not sure about the rest.
Cool. My desert planet does yield Sulphurine and I now also know that icey, frost type planets yield Radon, which is interesting to know. Looks like it might be right…
I wonder what weird worlds (glass/crimson etc) yield?
You are correct with which gases are harvested from which planet types.
I am also curious about which gases can be harvested from the exotic planets. I would guess that they treat them as if they are barren planets, but I haven’t tried.
Mad-Hatter: As noted by LordMarkov you are correct in your summary of planets with bad cases of gas.
You probably know about this already but just in case this is the link from the Gamepedia: Compressed Atmospheric Gas. It also reminds people that certain flora can be a source for these gases (have to scan first just like secondary minerals) although Mrs Mad-Hatter will then have to dump a lot of carbon. Buying these gases is also an option.
Responding to this also gives me the opportunity to ask if anyone has found a trick to force the scanner display in your ship to always display planets and moons? In my case these are sometimes displayed and sometimes not displayed. Plus when planetary bodies are being displayed there are times when there are non-existent fixed planetary bodies also showing, sometimes one and sometimes two. I have never noticed this scanner screen issue being discussed before.
@ChewyWeAreNotHome
I find when my ship radar fails, landing and then taking off again can help make it restart. Sometimes just pulsing will make it restart.
Failing that, I’ve noticed that setting myself up so that the door of the space station is level will let me pivot sideways to locate different planets because they sit on an equal horizontal plain.
For all you PS4 users who may be concerned about room for the NEXT update, here is something you may not have thought of.
Also, take a look at the articles at the end of this one.
Thank You.
I might have to hunt through my Yibolak Cloud discoveries and see if I can find an exotic world or 2 to test harvesters on… since I’m mostly just messing about now waiting for NEXT.
Already knowing the harvesters are bugged, I set myself up in a multi biome system near to my base with one harvester per biome just to see what would happen regarding bugs etc. (Incidentally the one I had sitting on my home planet bugged out with only glyphs as the icons so I scrapped it).
Harvester Testing
Of the 3 harvesters I placed down, one runs as it should, stores Radon gas & patiently awaits pickup & recharging.
One made Sulphurine but switched to Radon upon 1st recharge & then later vanished altogether I think a Gek stole it
The third makes Nitrogen but only if you stay somewhere reasonably nearby. If you leave, it loses charge & sits empty.
I relocated a new Suphurine harvester to a different planet & it now behaves like the nitrogen one.
By going to a Trading Post, I can buy an hours worth of harvester harvestings in a couple of minutes so obviously harvesters are kinda limited in their usefulness.
Upping their capacity, reducing their run-time & giving them a location icon so you can find them would vastly improve their attractiveness.
Ohh…& debugging them too would be nice.
Thus concludes todays testing
I have multiple harvesters on different planets in the same system and I have not seen this glitch. Although, I prefer putting them through portals with excellent farm bases.
I can test the exotic planet soon. I will try tonight or tomorrow. I have a robotic gears type exotic in my home system.
@LordMarkov
Will be interesting to see your exotic planet harvester results. I enjoy the ‘lets see what happens’ testing.
When you say “through portals with excellent farm bases” do you utilise other player bases as part of your process? Cool use of base sharing
I presume you guys collaborate so each player’s set-up helps each other beyond basic farming. Nice.
I can’t rely on that method due my game having the charge-interface-bug that renders portals inactive on a regular occurrence (among other things).
