Thanks! I am sure it will all be okay… It will be interesting to see how NEXT works all of this out. Vast colonies, etc…
Seriously, I’m pretty sure it’s something that was never even considered in the original design.
Sean Murray’s pre-release statements said things like it was “very unlikely you’d ever come across the traces of another traveller”. You could, but it was hugely unlikely.
But the original game design failed to take account of the fact that players would actually go looking for each other. And if the game didn’t provide easy ways to do that, then the players would devise their own.
And THAT’S emergent gameplay. The players saw what they liked, and a percentage of us liked it enough to stay. And then, by whatever means we could find, we adapted the game to be what we wanted.
And there are lots of tribes. There are the solo tribes, and the hub tribes, and the modder tribes, and many sub-divisions within. And it’s all emergent. None of it was planned,
And not only has it been a lot of fun, it’s brought together people from all over the world. We’re talking across frontiers, across cultures, gender boundaries, religions, ages, and nations.
And a tiny bunch of people in Guildford achieved that. Pretty amazing.
@Polyphemus @sheralmyst the last update fixed said issue, but I will move away. Both bases are there and I been making explosive for 2 days now no issues
Is your base on top of the hill in front of mine? If so it was invisible to me when I visited about an hour ago and mine was very very laggy . I have not heard of an update that fixed that issue.
Theres no fix for that yet, Chances are you will see each others bases but any third party visiting will only see the second base built. Ive tried and tested that myself with multiple accounts.
The second base needs to move system then revisit the old base site once the new one is established to unlock the site
If you don’t already you etarc guys should have a designated entry point to your hub, some otherwise useless low economy system
No, sorry, the update didn’t fix the issue.
You need to move to another unoccupied system, and claim another base. If you don’t do that, then @sheralmyst will never get her base back.
The way it works is terribly complicated. The server that stores the bases other players can see will only accept one base per system. If a new player builds a base in that system, the old player’s data gets deleted from the server.
Trouble is, none of this affects the bases you see. Your own base is stored locally, on your own computer. If you go to your own planet, you will always see your own base. And @sheralmyst will always see her own base. But it doesn’t mean other people will.
Other players visiting the planet don’t have the base data stored on their computer. So they have to get the base data from the server. And the server only stores the last base built in the system. So, if you have built a base, it means that @sheralmyst’s base has gone. Visitors will only be able to see your base, and not @sheralmyst’s.
The only way you can correct this is to build another base, in a different system. If you do that, then your base on @sheralmyst’s planet will be deleted. That’s the only way @sheralmyst can ever get her base back.
Even then, it’s not certain. We’ve had several reports of planets and systems that have become permanently broken (i.e. nobody’s base will work properly) because multiple players have tried to build bases in them .
It’s not your fault. You didn’t know. We’re only just discovering this stuff ourselves.
But please, move to another (unoccupied) system, and make sure you claim a base there. That’s the best chance of solving the problem.
I have found entry points for others but there is not a single entry point. Good idea.
Your base should ok. Last year I had 2 bases on a planet for a month or so with no real problems. It wasnt till I read about the dramas I moved one. Yours just needs freed up and it should return to normal
@Doopa Well either way I will move. I been on a few planets co basing it up. I have never experienced anything remotely concerning. But he claims he is extra laggy and my base on the hill is invisible to him. On my end both bases are there and everything is functioning correctly.
I only assumed it was fixed because I don’t experienc what I used to which is half drawn bases.
I’m going to move, but now we know the answer to said question. Sorry for the inconveniences, not every day I talk to the owners of these bases

Thanks for moving. Hopefully NEXT will bring a solid solution. Feel free to choose an uninhabited system in the ETARC Hub chain. If you would, name it using ECSD in the name. That way we can still find each other and benefit from the farms. Also, try not to scan flora/fauna on other systems in the chain. Do whatever you like in your own system. Welcome to the Hub!
Just wondering, how many travellers are based in your hub and what’s the ratio of pc/ps4 ?
Not that I’d move… . Im probably going to move my 2 Euclid bases out as far as I can manage from the starting point area once next hits.
For PS4 we have a designated temporary system for portal based relocation. It is listed in the Etarc Hub Is Open thread. PC users may want to replicate this idea and have a sacrificial system purely for portal based relocation.
If you have a dedicated system for portal based relocation, it doesn’t matter if multiple persons use the system, as the planet base is only used for access to a ‘home’ teleporter to allow you to relocate.
You can then find somewhere nearby in that same system (to free up the initial relocation base next to the portal) while you scout for a new home system.
When you move to your new chosen home, THAT’S when you start worrying about base share visibility.
EDIT: I should add that it is recomended that you turn off base sharing throughout your base relocation transition to avoid various potential issues.
I’m just moving back to my original system. I was looking for a friend lol. I will keep the port open to come back
Not really sure how many are in the PC Hub currently. Quite a few have moved in since the NEXT announcement. There was still plenty of room last time I looked. Guess we could take a head count…
Perhaps it is time for an official Etarcian Census.
It would be nice to know how many active players inhabit the Etarc hub on PC & PS4.
We’ll probably see some Xbox players soon too…
hehe, everyone else is coming together for next, while Im doing the opposite. I’d like a stargate style iris for my own portals for the update Iris | SGCommand | Fandom
Well, I already invested alot of resources to build this base I am about to move. Anyone want to see how the game would react with a planet with multiple bases (more than 2). My original planet is perfect but it’s 900ly away from the hub. I personally have no qualms with people moving in. If it messes up there are 4 neighboring systems that have any planet anyone would be looking for. I just want to experiment with this bug (still have no negative effects on my end). It would be nice to see if it’s manageable for the original occupant.
Thank you for agreeing to move. There should be a number of unoccupied systems in and around the hub that you could safely move to. We don’t want to chase you away, quite the opposite. We would like to have you as a hub member, but two players sharing a system doesn’t work.
From what we’ve been told, the Next update may solve this problem.
Anyway, welcome to the hub, and thanks for your co-operation.
