Future Update Speculation

What if we can call it in for ground battles and it appears in the upper atmo and our fighter pilots rush from it and to our defense or maybe a new sentinel type to back us up in ground battle. I could sure use some sort of air cover when fighting wave after wave of sentinels.

Combat frigates do deploy drones when you get into a scuffle in the same systems.

No, you can put stuff in freighter storage bins. I do it all the time. The freighter needs to be in the same system as you, and you need the item teleporter upgrade installed.

Nanites.

Any time there’s something that doesn’t seem plausible, the nanites did it.

So the Steam Spring Sale goes on till the 20th of March, and I don’t think HG would have another sale right afterwards. I’m guessing the delay for expedition 16 set their plans back since publishers need to inform valve of sales in advance.

There’s an expedition queued up on the server right now too, but I’m pretty sure they won’t start it till Titan ends obviously. But the update might drop next week if they want to keep tradition?

Edit: Seems like GOG is on sale till the 19th too, though the dates seem to be cutting it a lil too close to the usual update release day. Update next wednesday?

Thank you for the info. I miss all the data mining…

I’m going to write Hello Games a very personal letter, that will not only reach their hearts, but their very souls.

I will point out how, one day, inevitably, they will have to make Expeditions available indefinitely. Either on a rotating schedule or as selectable. Selectable I think, would be what their fans want the most, I would stress. I would then go on to point out, how they have the perfect opportunity with the Titan expedition delay and the oncoming expedition.

Run the next one before Titan ends, I would say, in my letter which I will pen, hencewith. It’s free testing for a future system, I’d hark!

As every dev in HG, gathered around this exquisite letter, all lift their heads at the same time with the collective epiphany of “But, of course!”

The bad news is I just spent the money I’d intended for stamps, on coffee. So I don’t think my plan will go ahead, but know that if I did craft such a letter, it would work. Definitely.

I don’t know how the expeditions are set up exactly, but I would be very surprised if they could run 2 at the same time without signifficant refactoring…

which is why it’s really important that they receive my letter and start working on the problem

I’m sure it wouldn’t be too complicated to have them run indefinitely but over time, those systems they’re set in are gonna be pure insanity with player bases. Unless they set up an automated system that was able to pick a new location for each expedition eveyr week that fit the criteria '^_ ^

A never ending cycle does seem like the most likely end-game for expeditions, from a devs point of view (rather than being selectable at any point). Having them rotate gives new players more incentive to return to the game every week or two should they purchase the game long after new expeditions are being made and LNF is a few years out.

I suspect that a need for continued support of old expeditions might way heavily against making them available again.

I’d love that though. OTOH, I’d also like to be able to lower threat settings to zero, which many combat types would be against.

I would think that most “combat types” already think the threat levels are zero. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That is not to be taken as a request for harder combat or as dissatisfaction that NMS is not a combat type game.

I’d love all expeditions to be re-available. There be base building items that I cannot access, particularly the hanging grass stuff.

I’m in the same position. I moved to a new computer somewhat less than a year ago, and I find that parts of my game progress did not transfer over with my Steam account.

Consequently there are items in the quicksilver store I cannot access until I “complete expedition XX” - but the expedition is no longer available.

I missed out on those when I was without a console and was playing solely with a PC. Was rough not having the cave creeper on my console save once I got a new one. Sometimes expedition items show up in Twitch Drops so hopefully they do the community a solid and bring it back around again soon.

I was fortunate to have a PC to play the game on so I was able to recover the cave creeper once I got cross-save (it shared the expedition rewards/QS purchases between both platforms once connected).

That is one solution now that I think of it. If you know someone who only has a PC profile for the game that you trust, you could link your console (assuming you are on console) to their PC profile on the hello games website, and once you get into the cross save beta, you can upload their save. Once they download it and load it up and re-save and re-up to cross save cloud, you should get all their expedition rewards. If they don’t have those either, they could also use a save editor to unlock those particular rewards for you (or any you like really).

Then you can unlink your profiles on the HG website so you both can be free to rejoin cross save should either of you go multi platform.

If you are on PC, you could always use a save editor to unlock the rewards for your profile.

@Polyphemus

That is unusual considering the rewards are tied to the overall save and not to any individual savefile within the nested save structure. I think you’re allowed a pass on using a save editor to tick those account wide unlocks
