Well I just finished the expedition & despite my reservations, I enjoyed it. It was different & not really grindy at all. I like the ‘fun’ aesthetic on the new equipment/sites etc.
My area had some nasty terrain but I began using the @toddumptious highways when possible which made life easier.
One Waste Station was 11 minutes away which was a bit tedious but I found picking my way through trash along the way gained me all the toxic, explosive, radioactive waste I could want.
I did find it was far safer not to pile big chunks of rusty metal in with the delicate canisters & crates of ‘Special’ waste. Imagine that huh?- genius
Zero glitches or problems on PS5 (online but with M.P. turned off).
I found the sentinel re-orientation milestone was most easily sorted by grabbing one of the little ‘helper’ droids, then running off with him to torment & repeatedly shunting him away, then grabbing again, rince & repeat. The nasty droids didn’t seem to grab as easily once annoyed.
I also found you could launch the toxic waste above the appropriate recycling thingy from the dumping area & it was automatically plopped into the purple goo. Saves carting it up the stairs.
The rest of the milestones just seemed to fall into place as I went about.
I think the armored sentinel variant are immune to our gravity guns.
Once I realised I didnt have to hold the gravity gun button for things to stay attached and that i could run away with a captured sentinel, I brought my captive to all my favourite spots and introduced them to my friends.
I never thought to try and see what happens if you throw one in a waste bin.
Silver and Ocygen give out a better ratio of Paraffinium and I figured since I had plenty of it from getting the cobalt (silver was the secondary resource on this particular planet) to turn into ionised cobalt, it made the most sense.
FUN FACT
I happened to have put a system from Expedition 12 into the Haven Map as I still had a base there. I spent the end of Expedition 21 visiting the other planets so I could also submit this system to the maps database.
12:21
They aren’t only reversed/mirrored in their positioning of the numerals, their regions are also VERY close on the Galactic Map and they exist within the same general location within their squares on the grid. The Expedition region I uploaded for 12:Omega was one of the later ones, so the starting region might be even more similar in positioning.
I suspect this expedition needs a specialist job for @Polyphemus . He should be an Overseer and grade us on how well we transport and dispose of all this waste.
If we do a miserable job of it, he should haul us before the Atlas and put us on trial.
What I don’t get is… where are these Colossus styles after the expedition, the wheels/legs/cabins? In the exocraft station, they are not unlocked. In the shop on the Anomaly, I got the front shovel and … something else? I got the Gravitino tool and the heirloom clothes as well. In the quicksilver store, everything looks redeemed (although I didn’t click anything).
Where did you get them?
They’re at the exocraft geobay for the colossus, (the summoning stations you can place anywhere) by using the customization terminal. More are unlocked by gaining new titles from delivering x amount of each type manually to waste stations. One of them, the spider legs, were a expedition reward so you may need to redeem those at the QS companion if they don’t show up in your Exocraft customization options at the geobay.
In my regular save the flatbed was not available until I completed some of the new mission to gather scrap. (see LOG tab.) After scrapping about 15 items in the furnace, most of which was lying around, the flat bed was unlocked.
Edit: It also seemed to care which system I collected from. I had moved a long way away so it allowed me to reset the position to something closer.
Yeah, that must be it. My reasoning was, I can’t start collecting scrap before I have the flatbed… but it only needs 1 scrap to unlock the flatbed. And now maybe some more for the rest.
I am outside of the expedition back in the normal save. So all this talk about expedition rewards makes it look like they are unlocked (like the heirloom suit is), but it isn’t. It’s just a misunderstanding.
This is one of the easiest and most confusing expeditions at the same time. Stuff just unlocks. Who knows why and when.
The magnet gun is fun! It will grab sentinels and punt them! They get mad tho. They do not get mad if you pinball them with waste objects, which is also fun. I also really enjoyed launching waste into the recyclers from distance…especially the toxic one where they think I will climb their silly ladder! The arc is challenging, but the resulting splash is very satisfying.
Theres enough scrap lying around for the metal furnace at the waste plants, see if throwing it all in will unlock it for you. I played via SP first before the expedition started, and I unlocked the flat bed by throwing all the scrap in. Theres some tires down by the Orange bin too.
I think it was on the 200th piece of trash. All types counted. Mine triggered on a piece of metal scrap. A friends triggered on an explosive part. However three of the banners seem to depend on a particular type of trash.
Before completing the expedition I went to the Space Station and spent 11Mu buying all the basic Corvette parts and assembling them only to find that I didn’t own the ship. Reload did not help and exiting the game resulted in the new Corvette not existing any more.
FIXED IT. Forgot that the Compare is where the ship is added to my inventory.
