I can add that I just played the expedition on PS5 and there were tons of comms at the RV points. Now I am running the expedition on PC and the 2 RVs I have visited so far, had no comms at all. I have seen this happen before on the same console when revisiting RVs a week later. It’s as if there was a ‘reset’ on the comms.
Good question @toddumptious . What I’m seeing is that comm balls placed at my base have “permanently” disappeared, both the device itself and the icon. Likewise for a comm ball I placed near one of the large planetary archives.
I’ll have to look into the base part limitation. I think I can work within that limitation, though, since the number is probably(?) thousands of base parts, and the few bases I’ve built so far are quite small.
An ingenious idea! My daughter also suggested this. Alas, I think my poem is too long. Definitely considering the possibility of placing the “poem” base in a system I discover, though. Would allow me to make some apropos system/planet names.
Another compelling reason to abandon the comm ball approach to what I want to do!
I’m currently doing some testing with the base message console part. So far it seems promising. Currently trying to determine how far apart the consoles need to be so one can traverse a path of them and get the text messages one-by-one.
Kanju is the absolute best for videos about varied aspects of No Man’s Sky. I have a couple others I watch for gameplay, but Kanju’s are both interesting and highly informative.
Im pretty picky with who I watch and I have to say that I actually like his content too. Very little fluff added, no extremely loud background music, no forced energetic “influencer” personality, no overly-sporadic sfx/vfx on screen, easy to watch and easy to listen to on the side while playing games or at work.
He lets his excitement come out calmly and naturally instead of exaggerating it which is a nice change from the usual gamerbro personas or the live stream reactors
(our very own macforaday is most certainly also in the calm and collected youtuber club <3 )
At least if you’re going to scream every 5 seconds… learn what gates and peaking are and how to work with your equipment, not against it XD Normalise your broadcast output, sirs 07
Also love Kanaju’s videos where he explores story and lore, hopefully with these recent changes we’re due another one ![]()
Trading Posts
It used to be that the economy scanner would locate a trading post. If you were within a system, it would point you to a trading post somewhere within that system. If you were within a planet’s atmosphere, it would point you to a trading post on that planet (except if there was no trading post on the planet, in which case it would point you to any planet that did have one.
Playing through Omega, I find this is not happening any more. The economy scanner no longer locates trading posts. Irritating, when I wanted to sell my smuggled goods quickly.
Do we know if this is a thing now, or is it just disabled for the duration of the expedition?
It worked for me on PS5. Perhaps it was a one-off bug.
I am not within the expedition at the moment, it will take a bit before I can obtain an economy scanner. But don’t forget that some systems, like most red systems, don’t have any buildings including trading posts.
Trading Posts - Update
Well I finished Omega, and now my economy scanner is finding trading posts again.
I wasn’t able to tell whether it was intentional, or some random glitch. I found Omega very unstable, and prone to all sorts of peculiar behaviour. Whatever it was, it seems to be gone now.
2 days remaining for the Omega expedition, so this is the final weekend for it. Get the rewards if you haven’t already, before it’s too late
