CURRENTLY RECRUITING: A HUB inside the Mercury Subroutine for ETARC

You should join the CSFD of Etarc! :star_struck:

Agreed.
I don’t stick too fanatically to my suggested methods.
I like to be creative or even a bit funny with my naming so I break my own naming rules quite often. No fun if it becomes a chore.
Once in a HUB where we are all trying to work as a group, then a unified naming method will make finding resourses easy so that makes sense but

Out in the big wide galaxy I thoroughly intend to do whatever I please. Amusing names, minimal hints and leaving discoveries for others who come later.
It is a game after all.

Just for systems as you can scan planets once in the system anyway,
reasons I think this makes sense are:-

It’s helpful info for fellow travellers travelling through ETARC space,
It could save on warp cell energy and helpful when looking for a specific element.

If I can take you all back through memory lane for a moment

Think what we used to have in v1, Stars and the colour of stars
that was pretty much it give or take. What did the NMS fans ask for? Vehicles, building, scanning from space telling us what’s there to save us a trip etc
I figure if people want to explore they will do so, there are 18 quintillion planets, if there passing through ETARC we could at least help them out :hugs:
I dunno maybe it can be an optional thing but for me it’s a no brainer and I wouldn’t be suprised if, at some point it becomes possible to scan a system for resources before warping to it,

Please, let’s use a “light” method. I can understand why giving informations but if there are too much details it will be so heavy in the naming :frowning: In my opinion only few things are really important: Is it a “rich” (R) ressource system (purple and rare resources), is there deep water (W) and is there an exotic (E) planet in this system.

The “biggest” name would be then [ETARC] Name (E,R,W). (or something like that.).

Eventually add if a NPC sale an uncommon bluebrint (like fauna/flora theta scan) or if there is a major point of interest (huge animal, paradisiac planet like in the trailer etc
)
So, a help for exploration but in letting the exploration part anyway.

I think we should just show the world that ETARC has claimed a system. We can use the Athena database for listing individual resources on the planet.

Adding abbreviations to denote elements opens up much more room for typing errors and irreversible mistakes.

Besides if the galaxy is reseeded again all that clutter of information in the planet name will be completely redundant.

I vote for keeping it simple by naming the system only: ETARC - planetname

I adhere to that. Finding/placing com-balls would take as much time as actually finding out what the planet contents are?

Adding the contents in the name sounds tedious and a deal-breaker, that, on top, is subject to future change

The game needs a “sporepedia” listing of renamed finds by players accessible to other than Atlas itself
Trying to solve that lack by manually listing it ourselves without a companion app sounds like hell to me. Any programmer in the room?

That would be an awesome thing if it could be done. Some mod that would allow you to scan a system and pick up the remarks made by the passing E-CSD traveller!

I’ve been thinking about some issues and I’d like to hear others thoughts on the matter(s).

  1. With Euclid so ‘messy’ with many weird/incorrect names & so many players having stepping-stoned their way through, several established Hubs etc. would it not make sence for our ETARC CSD HUB to be in the next galaxy and beyond? A right-of-passage so to speak. Given I’ve never left Euclid I don’t know how that works or what happens
???
  2. When it comes to naming planets and systems how are we going to make a HUB easy to utilise?
Having experimented with names/naming methods I’m inclined to think that simply adding ‘ECSD’ on the end of a chosen name is simple. It makes a claim for ETARC but also allows for any changes in the galaxy (like what happened with 1.3). Scanning and prior experience seems to work nicely in working out where one should go.
  3. Are quests vital to moving on or can you truly just wander about and continue on to the next galaxy. I ask because there seems to be various glitches and bugs that hamper quests on occasion. Not asking for hard spoilers but a gentle suggestion would help me make some decisions.
I have lots more queries but those 3 will do for now. :yum:

Unlike the findings catalogue there is no data recollection of resources, but the planets, systems and their given names are subject to be drawn from the save_file by automation, like the NMS-connect app does. A companion program could read planets on the go, and Etarchians could alt_tab and “punch in” the resources field and share it with others through p2p or server
 Hipotheticaly.

I think the 16th galaxy would be fitting, some think there may be Easter eggs there.
 @Virakotxa
Also, it would give the Frontier Nomads (CSFD), a first mission to cut their teeth on.

:+1: I like that.

That’s kind of a neat idea and maybe a medium range goal. Get to the 16th galaxy (Muhacksonto) and do something special (and look for something special)!

Choosing to make your hub in the 16th galaxy will invariably make a lot less people show up to it. It just takes way too much time to get through each galaxy, unless you use exploits.

Will some people go to the 16th galaxy? Yes. Will very many people do it? No.

The Spacing Guild voted to stay in Euclid because we will be able to serve the most clients. If CSD chooses to ONLY be in the 16th galaxy, then we cannot be a part of it.

I suggest having a CSD outpost remain in Euclid.

The ETARC CSD HUB as noted in the first post will be setting up an outpost in each of the first three galaxies. The Frontiers Division will be for the traveller/nomad/explorer that just can’t settle down. We will be moving on and setting up smaller homes/bases/stopping off points at each of the other galaxies (eventually
). Two separate entities per se doing different things. We (the CSD Frontiers Division) will also be setting up some faster travel ‘roadways’ so those that wish can travel faster using the portal system. I think it’ll be a win win for everyone!

And without getting into spoilers, travel beyond Euclid just got a little faster.

Just wanted to link this here too as it’s relevant in both threads I feel.

Thanks

Does anybody know, since universes are the same across all gametypes now, is it possible for someone in creative mode to see people playing in survival or casual? My casual save is glitched, not coming across graves or travellers. But my survival game is working perfectly fine and so that’s my primary playthrough while I wait for a patch to fix glyphs for my casual save.

Untested personally, but I got from the patch notes shared for game-modes, still separated platforms.

I propose,

We are “Etarc Hub”, all systems and planets are tagged (ETARC)
Currently “Etarc Hub” has one major division CSD Citizen Scientist Division.
And the CSD has two divisions the “Initiative” and the “Frontier”
With room for more division, like Art, Cartography, Writers, Farmers, etc.

Etarc Hub
          I. government
         II. Citizen Scientist Division **CSD**
                   a. Citizen Scientist Division Initiative **CSDI**
                   b. Citizen Scientist Frontiers Division **CSFD**
        III. etc.

I believe this fits @SlowRiot4NuZero original vision.

Citizen Scientist Frontiers Division CSFD

Mission is threefold

#1) Get to the true center.

#2) Set up a network of one system outposts one jump from the center of each galaxy.
These outpost systems will be tag as “(ETARC)Name outpost” and one planet (with portal) will bear the same name. We will collect/tag multiple outpost around each center and vote on official outpost, that will be posted via flyer, for public use.

#3) Scout and report to the CSDI or CSD of potential Hub regions.
We will collect/tag multiple system/planet on the way to centers tag as “(ETARC)name”

Citizen Scientist Division Initiative CSDI

Mission is to initiate the Hub in one region in each galaxy, focusing on one region each in the first three galaxies, expanding from there. (hopefully the 16th someday).

Also, we shouldn’t get to attached to one planet or system for the capital, we may find a better one.

edit: fixed misspelling E-tar-c with E-tra-c
that could be a problem. :grimacing:
