Well. I don’t know if this will fix the fact that, for the first time, No Man’s Sky consistently crashes on me. Never gets past the intro animated “busy” type circle.
The second one was definitely happening to me. Hideous framerate drops and excruciatingly long load times that sometimes result in non-functional controller issues has become common for me…

Well, the “No, you can’t play” situation continues. I have created a ZenDesk account and submitted the crash ticket.
[I already tried ensuring OS, NVIDIA, and Steam patches are current. Then I deleted system and profile temp files and checked NMS ShaderCache (an empty folder). No joy.]
It’s pretty irritating, as little as I get to actually play.
[UPDATE, Apr. 13] – Grrr. Still crashing. I do note that Hello Games Zendesk now lists minimum Graphics: Nvidia GTX 1060 3GB and mine is a GTX960 with 4GB. (And that was an upgrade from the original card.) If I keep needing to upgrade to expensive graphics cards, No Man’s Sky may end up costing much more “per hour” than I thought.
My controller disconnecting came back. But it only happens when im trying to pilot a ship.
I have noticed mine refuses to respond after starting the game about 50% of the time. A restart fixes it.
Aaah this explains why i cannot play NMS anymore…
I have a 950
Same here. It’s still running, though I had to lower settings again because the game became unplayable during combat (it wasn’t great before, but with the corrupted sentinel swarms, it basicaly became impossible to aim because of the FPS drop).
I did have consistent crashes on start after the install, but they seem to have gone away once I freed up more disk space on my primary partition (had like 1.2GB remaining) even though the Game is installed on another partition…
I finally got NMS to play on my GTX960 w/ 4GB…
- Open NVIDIA GeForce Experience
- Choose “Optimize”. NVIDIA displays that the game won’t work well with my card
- Change NVIDIA’s auto-set of lower resolution (1600x900) to my PC’s recommended resolution (1920x1080)
- Exit GeForce Experience and start No Man’s Sky. It takes a while but the menu appears
- In-Game Options: Change Graphics settings as below:
Texture quality: Enhanced
Animation Quality: Enhanced
Anisotropic Filtering: 2
Anti Aliasing: TAA (Low)
While the screen display is not the higher quality I used to get, the game did launch and I was about to test play for several minutes (late at night before finally retiring, LOL).
[I had already cleaned out the game’s ShaderCache and system temp files.]
You might want to try that too. If that doesn’t work, try setting those that you can in GeForce Experience before starting the game.
