The sailing seeds came with one of the last few updates. The original equivalent was dots and short rods. I had wondered if they were supposed to evoke Morse code or a binary situation.
I never noticed the distance tracker on compass markers before as you approach an object, the number reduced as I got closer.
Is this new or do I need glasses?
To add some randomisation to the planets I choose to explore in purple systems, I started taking the missions from the space station I usually avoid. The ones that don’t stack and send you to a specific poi.
Broke atmosphere on my way to raid a depot and was greeted by a very popular and busy space port. You can see three other stations in this screen but there were two more opposite side and further exploration to the south I found two exosuit upgrade drop pods.
It was my last stop before calling it a night so I’m looking forward to further exploration today to see if this area was lucky, or if the planet has an unusually higher spawn rate for NPC buildings.
I would have to build there. Almost a city
That reminds me that one of the features on top of my wishlist literally since launch is to be able get a waypoint to discovered surface POIs from the discovery menu…
And an expandable menu so we can see more than the last four discovered regions
I think a list with a symbol indicating the type of POI would be more beneficial than four screenshots you didn’t compose
It’s in the Starchain so it’s up for grabs
I’ll post the coords for the cluster I found when I’m back on later
I was just thinking today, how handy it would be if I could choose the items that appear in scans and on the compass bar.
Scans can get very cluttered, and icons can obscure each other - and I’m not interested in most of them. It would be nice if I could choose to see only the ones I’m looking for.
Did anyone else miss the memo about bioluminescent algae?
Now we can leave messages at our friends shorestep to say we knocked by but they were out.
An update a day keeps the bugfest at bay. Another five gigs inbound. I’ll play later.
I need a bug fix for my head. Has hurt since I woke up…not playing much today. Keep the pics and info flowing!
That’s just the brain implant Elon had Doge (the bitcoin, not the department) install into the populace last night. Logistically it was quite an impressive feat to pull off, you gotta give em that.
Just steer clear of any large magnets and you should feel right as rain soon. But also keep out of the rain.
Edit:
Gas Giant fishing is fixed. They just raised the water rather than lowering the bedrock.
Spawning into my base came with quite the surprise
So now my gas fishing cave is flooded and will need to be revisited. It also means no hiding from the rocknadoes while fishing anymore, I’ll have to go up to the surface or find me a new cave.
Marked where water line used to be.
I accessed the cave by a hole in the surface. This was the surface…
The fishing depth here maxed out at 14.9 and is now at 35.6, guessing you need over 30u for a large/collosal catche on gas giant.
I finally found some fish on an underground water planet. But, they only swim in the area that is directly below the opening to the outside. They still do not swim in the caves.
I just came across a ruined planet with a peculiar planetary type (I forgot exactly what it was, something like “The requium”, it was the type not the name). It has gravity inversion events. Scared the heck out of me. I was planning on streaming tonight but apparently playstation is doing some maintenance which is preventing me from being able to stream. I’ll show off this planet in my weekend event play through. XD
The Reliquary is one of the type name variants for a lush ruined planet I believe, though may not be exclusive to lush, it’s the only version I’ve seen so far.
Really enjoying the new localised gravity events, I’ve had two planets with them so far, got caught off guard thinking I was building in a relatively calm area
PSN is still down, I share my screens by messaging myself and grabbing em on my phone through the app, none of which works right now. Guess I better just, sigh, play the game instead of posting photos
Edit: the app just came back. Still down on console.
My gas giant fishing hole base is now not only deep under water, but is also buried in rock. Along with increasing the water depth, the game also built a cave around the area. I had to use the terrain manipulator to get into the base building from underneath. The doorway is still blocked by rock. My ship is also down here somewhere, completely buried.
(edit) Interesting - whilst the game has sort of increased the water depth, it kind of hasn’t - there’s no plants or animals in the new water, no giant clams or sulphide geysers - and (the killer giveaway) I can’t place a nautilon station. When I try, it says “must be placed underwater”.
It seems the new water only looks like water. The game doesn’t actually recognise it as such.
Found my ship. It was in a cave system underneath the base. There are plants down here - but then there always were. It looks like the original water is biologically active, but the new water isn’t.
I had another base on a different gas giant - one that doesn’t have any water. That’s also become buried in the ground.
I suppose I could dig them out, but the ground will only grow back over time.
It’s the price we pay for being pioneers in a brave new update.
My gas giant fishing spot was devoid of all underwater plant life except for the odd Crystal Sulphide (which was how I even found the water caves).
After the fix, my gas fishing cave now has tonnes of underwater flora but only up to the point the water level used to be at, anything above that which used to be dry land has no underwater flora.
I have a feeling this will need some further tweaking so I’m sure our bases will come under some form of transformation again soon.
I still get the impression cave depth and complexity isn’t working on gas giants rn and it’s a temporary patch to sort the fishing out until they fix it. They all feel very shallow compared to cave networks on other planets, even in non purple systems.
Woo hoo, now bring back the upload all fauna/flora/mineral button please
I fought the jellyfish boss with the new water displacement and oh wow, when they summon the horrors to help them, it causes a big crater in the water below and big ripples go out.
I have photos but they’re trapped on console until PSN restores. Will add them once they’re available
If this ends up being like hacked PSN downtime in 2011 I’ll just transfer with external drive
