I’m sure there are a lot of threads about this and I can include a video if need be, but I just wanted to share what I figured out with the help of some other threats on here.
I guess I should say the first very important step is go into options and difficulty settings and change the ease of use setting “hyperdrive system access” to unrestricted. Then when you are looking around the galactic map keep in mind purple systems exist but will be invisible to you, except for a little white dot with a trail that you can kind of see when you move around the map or free rotate around.
When you see that little dot pick the closest system to it, and when you do you will see a line going towards that invisible spot. You can then point towards the line using the control stick and it should move the icon over there, and you will know you’ve done it when you selected the invisible spot and it has an x in the system type.
As a day one player I changed a few difficulty settings to make it more like it used to be but I never touched that one because I already had all the engines. But as someone who got this game to explore the universe and nothing else, I haven’t completed any quest for 8 years and I don’t plan to start now. So hopefully they maybe change things so you just need to do the quest to get the purple engine if you want but otherwise make it so everyone can see the new systems.
Because at this point I feel like that’s kind of a weird restriction for those of us who are coming back because of the new content.
I want a deep water planet with life I can call my own, that doesn’t have angry sentinels and isn’t some monochromatic horrific abhorration or plagued with constant storms. Am I asking too much…
This is a system in the Starchain region so it’s everyone’s to share if they are looking for something similar, come one come all and let’s be Kevin Costner’s Waterworld without the massive box office loss.
It has become my favourite fishing spot. It has friendly weather with the occasional snow storm but its a “lush” terrain. Sentinels haven’t bothered me once but says they “demand obedience”. I’m just fishin guys
The water is 1500 u + deep (from what I’ve explored), the storms are infrequent, and the land is just gorgeous, mossy, steep and craggy.
All shots from the same location, I love my craggy rock
Marked for a base but Im gonna do some poking around some more first. It’s ETARC territory so you won’t be stepping on my toes if you want to visit and/or build here
Oh the depth range for large and Collosus is also different on ocean planets. I was still getting none at 100u, went out 500u and they started appearing.
Whaddaya know, one happened to be typing up their report already 07
Edit: @sheralmyst safe passage through a nearby portal has been added above
You used to be able to do this with water and yr jetpack back when it was only first person. If you got the return arch back out of the water smooth enough you could keep gaining momentum and height. I used to love doing it, the introduction of character models changed a lot of locomotion etc so this feels like a wonderful trip to a past time. You could still kinda do it but not to the extent before third person.
I can no longer swoosh into the water and keep my momentum. Melee boosting into the water now results in a soft sploosh and no momentum at all. Bummer.
This ocean is the blackest I have seen. And no planetary fauna…
you get plunked into the depths with no portal on the planet. Very weird.
I was googling for info on finding deep water for large and collosal fish on gas giants as I have searched long and hard, regardless of terrain type the water and bedrock seem to flatten out at 15-25u.
All the gas giants have a very shallow underground despite their size, and I think they’re supposed to have intricate tunnel systems.
Folk discussing on Reddit were theorising they might be bugged at the moment and their true world depth is being restricted.
This could explain the lack of a Portal when you arrived. It might live in a deeper location that is currently not being generated.
and the portal sound is stuck on, as if the unseen portal is calling for itself to be found
I called in the Anomaly to see if I could break the portal echo and when I landed inside the Anomaly, it sounded like I landed on water I am cursed
Help! The Anomaly is under attack!
I’ve been looking for the new Dense Jungle lush variant but had yet to find any after thirty or so systems today. Thought maybe less likely in purple system but I want a purple one.
Turns out I was doing it wrong.
I was looking for an indicator in the planet scans like Dense Paradise or Bountiful Jungle etc.
They don’t have any unique signifiers, lush biomes just have a chance to be potted with dense tree lines, in all systems.
Thought I’d share in case anyone was doing what I was doing… Scanning from Freighter, seeing nothing but regular lush, and then bouncing to the next area.
I’ve been using the hide system button which I’ve never done before. I’m searching through ETARC space and when you freighter scan, it opens up ability to name all planets.
For the ones I’m passing through and finding nothing, I don’t want to claim then and worried I’d accidentally do an “upload all” sometime in the distant future, so been hiding them. Pretty useful for community scouting and exploration to avoid naming everything by accident.
Could Dense Jungles be evidence that similar features are on their way for the other planet biomes? This could be the beginning of introducing new secondary biome variants to other planet types too. An arrid planet could have the chance of having a wide oasis area for example.
Since there’s also no way to know if a planet has these new biome variants mixed in with the planet type, it encourages the player to land and explore, which is always a good thing to have.
There’s nothing there… I think you two must have developed space scurvy and started seeing things. Theres no blanket in the sky… the mountains look fine… there’s just a friendly clown on the mountain standing next to my mother…
Space Scurvy is a condition in which, if you catch it, someone else’s teeth fall out. It’s well known where I grew up - although there were often fists involved.
The particle effects for ambience etc have always been sorta simple transparent shapes like circles or oblong flecks etc from what I can best recall.
This certainly seems a bit more detailed than the bits of fluff I’ve seen floating around over the years but also that could be me just remembering pc on ultra crushed low spec mode where everything is a vague blurry shape. Still beautiful though
I had a snow storm at sea recently where I thought the snow flakes seemed a bit fuller. The eternal dilemma of a long term no mans sky player; Was this added this update? Or last? (Is it first? Is it last?)
Snow storm for context. This was a lush ocean world. Getting snow here was a pleasant surprise.
I think because the ocean worlds weather is ocean based, this was “coastal storms” I think, it can conflict with the land type. Or maybe this is the only land type you’ll find in an ocean planet
Has anyone found non lush style biome on an ocean world that also spawns land?
