Its a lovely system though, lots more things to build.

If we want to do scrap, im sure a neighbouring star might make a suitable stop. Visitors can hop back and forth.

I might have a scout about tomorrow and see whats around

So a scrap collection driving route together with a Sphere Creator ball throwing (or possibly even ball transportation) game?

Does a Proximity Switch count ā€œgoalsā€? Something must be able to, I’m just not sure about the name of the component.

That reminds me, I never made a driving course for a Colossus.

Maybe we can just expand. Surely a nearby system has what is needed. We also have the competition @Timsup2nothin is running next month. We could create a series of places to go and see and things to do.

A comm ball at a portal could list coordinates to another system. (Much as I loathe comm balls, this might be a good application.)

A welcome centre with a message module pointing to the salvage system might be a good idea. We found a good one directly next to the Artemis Event system

With the launch window scrubbed again, I wonder should we have the event anyway and just do a redux on it as well whenever the actual launch takes place

Or the first event can be our very own failed launch tests and then we can call the launch day event the real one?

Let’s just keep exploring and building. Maybe just go ahead and invite everyone in to build? Then if the launch ever happens, we will hang out and party.

Come to the Artemis Watch system and build yourself a home, create a playground for everyone or just explore!

When (and if) the Artemis launch happens, we will meet up and hang out and watch history together.

Ah! I was thinking we still do it on the march date but now is also fine :joy:

Let me get that directions bulletin to the sister system for waste removal activities set up in the main system pronto

Im building a waste base near a facility on the planets north pole so I was thinking i could build a little recruitment desk in Artemis-Main to direct folk to that system for industry jobs in waste management.

I dont think everyone checks this so maybe when things are set up a bit more we could make a more formal announcement about the rescheduling plans for the event, inviting everyone in

I built a sports ball thingy with basket nets. Someone’s going to have to keep score though.

I did learn if you have the ball held by the gravity gun and a button resets the ball to its spawner, it still acts like its attached to your gravity hold, and just flies right back to you :joy:

Quickly pressing the grav button twice will loose it flying towards you for an overhead kick too. There’s definitely method and skill to be worked out here, sprinting and melee jetpacking also seem to add more velocity when pressing the gravity push button.

Proximity Switch would detect a sphere, or alternatively use a Floor Switch. Of course the actual counting would have to be made with additional logic. I am actually eager to build something, but I have to try harder to find some time to play again.

Update: Actually, come to think of it, not sure a Proximity Switch still detects spheres, I just recall how I found my pinball base broken at some point, because those no longer worked. May have to try them to make sure.

Exactly, as @toddumptious said, use a Message Module instead.

I just built a little sports pitch recently with two goals, have a pressure plate set as the goal trigger/ball respawn. I think i tried using the proximity sensor but it was a little too sensitive for the goal line but the ball seems to trigger them again.

Adding a scoreboard is too much logic for me so i juat affixed some lights and a bunch of noise boxes to go off when a goal happens.

Which lasts half a second because the ball respawns instantly. Ive been thinking about adding a switch for delay on the respawn but thats for a future less lazier weekend version of me to figure out.

Good to know Prox works again, I could not recall. I agree Pressure Plates tend to work better for this sort of thing. Could even consider scaling down the Sphere Creator for a smaller ball, so the goal can be made too small for the player to fit, while the ball still does. We could join our effort and make it all fancy with additional logic  Or maybe come up with a new/different game?

I thought I made a soccer pitch but then I realised with the grav guns its more like a Hurling Pitch so that’s what I’m going with.

I remembered, auto switches introduce a time delay so I figured 2 is enough for a light and sound show when a goal is scored.

Would be fun to come up with a few different sport type arenas and build them. I was originally going to build a basket ball type, that seems like a given.

Maybe something where the goal is a hole like golf, theres a standing position to shoot from and there are different holes worth different points… I’m just describing a carnival golf game I think basically

I might leave the fancy additional logic to you, I definitely broke some brain cells doing the time delay on the ball respawn.

I didn’t realise resizing the spawner resizes the sphere it spawns, this opens up a lot more possibilities alright. I’ve put off learning the resize glitch for far too long.

Or a glass covered slanted pinball marble game, where you shoot in the ball from the side with the gravitino gun and it rolls down and bounces off different pins and holes and sensors on its way to the bottom sensors?

Just not sure how to design a nice entry area in NMS that is as variable as this simple curve on top.

I attended my first fashion show last night hosted by Voyagers Haven

Some silliness in the bleachers while waiting for the show to start

There was more fashion on show I just forgot to take pics.

I was going to say we could call the collection, ā€œGravitino Gamesā€ after ā€œGravity Gamesā€, but it seems thats no longer a thing so the reference might be lost on all if not most.

Heres my little prototype sports ball game that is totally an official GAA sport, in action.

I tried the resizing glitch but I can’t quite get the timing right on pressing placement and switching from wire placement mode, I think the trigger haptics etc make it tricky on PS5 maybe? Either way my spheres remain regular size for now, which is fine for this build because the goal is designed around its size.

The grav gun is making ball games way more appealing

The Haven Map is really starting to come together, thought I’d give an update on its current condition.

The Extractor Mod that allows for automatic collection and submission has been made public and seems to be working like a charm. Still some issues to work out with purple systems but avoiding logging those for now.

I’ve been using the map a lot and reporting any bugs or issues I’ve had with the software so far, the developer offered to make an Atlas-CSD/ETARC community profile for me to utilise some more of it’s advanced community features (choosing which info in a civs system is public or not etc, making sub-admin accounts for civs, approving submissions sent in by civ members, that kinda thing)

Since we citizen scientists are nomadic by nature, basically every system I discover in my main save is under the banner of ETARC, so I decided to have some fun with the extractor mod and upload it to the map under the ACSD tag.

To demonstrate how much quicker the mod makes the process. Over 60 days between January and February and some March thrown in for good measure, I manually submitted around 400 systems under the Personal/No Affiliation tag.

In 2-3 days and overall around 2 hours, I have submitted 325 systems via the Haven Extractor mod under the Atlas/Etarc tag.

Theres also a new community stats page for some crazy fun data breakdowns.

This link gives an overall view of communities and contributions so far

https://havenmap.online/haven-ui/community-stats

Clicking into one will give you a breakdown of that specific community.

Here’s the one for Atlas-CSD

In sports news, I decided to test out a basketball type goal. The rings having no geometry in their centre, is just all around fantastic news, and made making a goal very simple and easier on the eye than making a hexagonal type ring as I was intending to do.

Edit:

Oh yeah I forgot to mention, I had to pick a login name for the ACSD admin account on the Haven Map. I felt OldGods was the most fitting choice for a name and a good legacy character to carry over thematically.

I felt inspired after the basket ball hoop so now I’m working on a sort of proof of concept for a ring toss game similar to those pinball games @AdaRynin mentioned. Tilted surface, many holes, that kinda thing.

Btw these are all on a planet in the system @sheralmyst has set up for the Artemis (pending) Launch event if anyone wants to go and try them out themselves.

A 45 degree angle gets best distance. That might help adjust shooting distance to slightly increase difficulty.

Nice concepts.
