What's Hubbening? - Transmissions from the Galactic Community

Just did the finishing touches on bases for the Artemis II launch party celebrations.

I plan to do some builds on the day too with everyone so I am going to do all my in-game building then too.

I’ll be there in duplicate, that way I can communicate by typing via PC and still run around as my Console self for a smooth and shiny experience.

Earliest launch day seems to be the 8th now.

Voyagers Haven Announcements:
Hello all, I come with a major announcement

The Haven’s mapping program went through a massive migration last night. As of now there is a new URL domain for the map. This is using 100% personal hosted software - no 3rd party subscription or agreement (ngrok). Other than just a domain change, this ensure the future of the haven project. Production cost for me just went from $20+ (unlimited ceiling) per month to now just electricity cost after the domain purchase.

AT THE END OF FEBURAY THE CURRENT URL ("voyagers-haven-3dmap.ngrok.io ") WILL NO LONGER WORK, PLEASE MAKE SURE ANY BOOKMARK OR PUBLIC POST REFLECTS THIS CHANGE BY THE END OF FEBUARY

with that being said both links will work independently of each other, they use the same server the project is on and share the same database so anything you do on either of the links will be saved while its still working.

Voyagers of the Haven, the new URL domain

Things are continuing to come together with the Haven Map Project, not sure if it’s happened yet but the plan is to host everything across two raspberri pi systems for hosting and there was some mention of blocking ads/ad tracking from entering the server space too (I didn’t realise they’d gotten this invasive).

The client itself has been quicker to load and much more responsive after some under the hood retooling a few days ago, a dedicated URL and local hosting is another step that will no doubt add to its responsiveness over time too.

Recently, the Discoveries section got an upgrade too and is in a functional state. I messed around with it some last night, it lets you add discoveries from a variety of types and these will then populate an already submitted system/planet.

I took some screens to show it in action…

Oh, vile brood is in the resources list now @sheralmyst

I thought I should also share this, it’s a collection of weather/biome/etc adjectives collected, the ones marked red have been found but not yet added. The person who was responsible for updating the lists seems to be busy with life stuff as they have not updated the drop downs in over a week or so. I keep having to pick “endless seas” for Oceanworlds, Waterworlds, waterlogged etc. Gas Giant weather seems to be one of the last bastions of new adjectives I’ve come across.

If you find any that aren’t in the list, feel free to pass them along and I’ll make sure to post them in the Haven Discord and credit them to you.

Artemis will not launch til March

Yeah, I saw that. Space launches are often delayed. The moon landing was Apollo 11. The numbering was not linear and some were unmanned (and the first crew straight up exploded before lift-off) but they had ~11 flights before the first one that actually landed.

And Artemis is only having its second launch. (Didn’t the Artemis II crew say in an interview, if they are successful, then they won’t be remembered; the ones that actually land will be the ones remembered. Like, nobody talks about Apollo 8-10.)

The timeline is likely accelerated. Of course they learned a lot from the old space programs, but there’s a huge gap and they need to partially start over learning the new weak points.

Edit : Not quite functional yet, will show you the number of systems/regions that contain what you’re looking for but filters dont carry over when you click on a galaxy/difficulty plane. In the tinkering phase but it’s getting there

This is the search feature I’ve been waiting for. The map just got a hell of a lot more powerful for those trying to use it to find something very specific

The site ahs officially moved to a local hosting raspberry pi server and the ngrok rented host has been shut down, so make sure to use this link in the future

The creator is also currently 3d printing the rack for the future development and expansion of this local server <3

moar edit: Personal Tag has returned to the region naming functionality. I have a list of about 100 regions I’ve been saving to name for this day. Fingers are sore but almost done
