What is next for No Man's Sky? (Not Meant to be Negative)

I have purchased the game through Gog which gave me the opportunity to play either online or offline. As I was used to play games offline, for me this was the first choice. However, I own a Youtube channel and through it discovered channels of gameplaying people who streamed NMS life. I subscribed to a few of those channels and took part in the chats during their lifestream. I play on PC but the best gamers I found all played on the Playstation. Most of them in the meantime made it to some Hub in the several galaxies.
For myself, I rather wait till multiplayer is really established in NMS in such a way that I can choose between the different platforms (my daughter and grandson play NMS on a PS 4) to visit the bases of my choice.
I would like to see some more real interaction with the NPC’s though. So that you can really make a conversation with them after you have finished all the missions. They all want to stay on the base, so I guess this will perhaps become a feature in the future :).
Anyway I like what you have described. Still like the game as it is and wait for surprises to happen…

If you really want to explore many lush planets you should play through the storyline of Artemis all through the end. In the end you come to meet the Atlas and it will give you a choice of four galaxies to go to. If you choose the tranquil galaxy you will end up in the Eissentam galaxy which has lots of lush planets and it is a very cool galaxy to explore. Am doing this in Normal mode. Quite a relaxed experience!

As @Xion4012 said, we all play for different reasons.

For me, the combat is not remotely the focus. It seems adequate for something in the background to me.

I have recently focused on the multiplayer options because its new, but that too is not why I play this game. There are so many other games that have both of these things as their focus. If those were my focus, I would be playing them instead.

There are 2 things that have me playing NMS heavily still: exploration (finding extremely rare things) and the knowledge that Hello Games is still creating new things for the game.

My biggest wish is for them to add more things to find, especially extreme rares (like finding a planet that looks like Endor with huge trees so tall and plentiful it is difficult to find a landing spot or finding a gargantuan sea creature that you thought was an island at first or how about a primitive civilization). I would like for the game to get to the point where almost no players will see all of the crazy and rare things that are hidden in the game (although, I am not convinced that there isn’t at least the one red supergiant star that has the green skied planet and obsidian moon that has yet to be found.)

I would just like the “Push To Talk” Option put in so If I hear someone talking I can put on my headphones and get interacting rather than having them on all the time

On Of My Wish List Features

And for the PC version have a key-bind that allows you to make your HUD to toggle

I bought the game for its unlimited exploration aspect. I also expected an absence of any traditional multiplayer. The original concept was based on Sean Murray’s love of the wide opens spaces of the Australian outback, where homes might be 40 miles apart. You looked up at the stars and it was just you and them. The game was intended to convey a feeling of aloneness in a vast universe. Even adding the v1.3 co-op ability to see player orbs destroys that experience for me.

So more enhancements to worlds, terrain, environmental aspects, and creatures would be much better for the way I like to play.

I hope that if any type of multiplayer expands in the future (which seems likely from the Hello Games announcement of this level of co-op) it’s optional and can be disabled. I’d really like to never see another player’s orb/whatever and seeing myself or another player’s exosuit is not related to my desire for exploration.

I agree, and that is also what finally won me over to purchasing the game. I really felt that the game changed for me when I saw my first discovery that I hadn’t found. Seeing a Star System named something familiar with some Steam Handle. I play on the PC and we cannot see Talking Orbs if the person is from another region of the world. I believe they fixed the problem for those who play on PS4 long ago.

If they improve the Talking Orbs I would like to see these changes made:

  • Add an option for the PC version to have Push To Talk.
  • Allow PC and PS4 Talking Orbs with the limit between the two platforms being 32 Players.
  • Show Ships and Exo-Craft instead of Talking Orbs.
  • Require No Man’s Sky not be modded (PC Version) if you wish to participate in Talking Orbs.

I totally agree that any form of multiplayer needs to be optional. The ability to opt out of dealing with people though is as easy as making a mode that doesn’t share your findings with the universe. A Private mode could be a simple check box on the side of the modes (Normal,Creative, Survival or Permadeath). Where not even your discoveries would be shared nor would you ever have to see another players effect on your world again

Options Makes A Good Game Great

For sure, these are my thoughts exactly I think the ability to see the other players has stolen something from the game and may have made it even more hollow than before. But I do have a hard time putting my finger on the what really bothers me since 1.3 update, and I’m sure it does have a lot to do with the multiplayer additions.

Maybe 1.4 will bring some things together :crossed_fingers:

Lol MP was the first thing that made me say ok, HG is working on things hard. That along with seeing actual Travelers at TP’s, in Outposts, the game looking better than ever, better but still broken space combat, etc.

I hope HG does even more work on Synchronous MP, which I’m sure that’s what 1.4 is gonna add. I want real empires and true Explorers and Scavengers, I want NPC and User made quests and guilds, etc.

Thai along with revamping the creatures and adding ability to have pets, etc. Would take NMS to the, next level. Cuz their is objectively better Survival games, so NMS should focus more on Lore,User integrated content, Community based factions and interactions, and Synchronous MP.

I’ve played Solo NMS for 500 hours. I’d like to have some actual emergent gameplay for once

I think MP will always be somewhat optional in NMS with likely some more work put in for those who crave it. Totally agree it should remain optional and I would like some settings adjustments so you can set your session to how you feel like playing at the time. ie; private, base share only, solitude explorer, full interactive.etc…

Other things I think could help NMS…

I’d like them to return the crashed freighters to simple dig & retrieve, not the complex version they altered it to.
Add scavenging options to abandoned crashed star-ships & abandoned bases. Perhaps add a retrieval option so found ships can be transported back to your freighter to be repaired.
Remove the powered-planter fuel requirement thing. They look cool but no-one uses them now due to grinding. (Well, I do, but my base is largely aesthetic).
It would be good if the nomad could actually fly (up to a certain height) to make portal to base travels easier.
Instant harvest per dome would be nice. Constantly spinning around gets tedious when doing the rounds.
New freighter internal graphics to accomodate new ships with fixed parking spots for owned ships to stop shuffling.
Fix the storage box bug where items disappear or cannot be accessed. This was never an issue before 1.3.
Ability to sell ships at space stations would open up a new angle for salvage & allow players to get traders back in their freighters.
Optimum trade route trace lines in galactic map for those wanting to be merchants.
Highlight on player-inhabited systems for ease of location or avoidance (depending on your play style).
Predator-Repellant technology to give temporary protection from nasties.
Resident system protection: prevent other players moving into your system and ruining your base-share set-up. Simple as denying base claiming in an inhibited system.
Remove obselete gameplay options (like bypass chip to summon your ship to a landing pad)
Introduce aesthetic wear & tear to ships & bases. ie; over time, base & ships develop progressively worn appearance. Add to this a space-station terminal where for a price, a ship can be overhauled bringing it back up to new (if you want).
Derelict space-stations & freighters floating on system outskirts. No lights, toxic, dangerous critters, usefull treasures, abandonded starships. Weave these occasional finds into the lore.
Animal movement and sounds. More variety.
Add more lots more ‘finds’ to discover while wandering such as burnt out wrecks, skeletons of ancient creatures, little NPC mining camps and droid settlements, more variation in the nanite ‘tubs’. Things to encourage on-foot wanderings after milestones have been reached.
And finally, introduce complex through-the-portal missions and intergalactic missions, where a series of steps are involved including walking and scanning. For example you get a coordinate to investigate. You must then scour the area to locate something. You retrieve the thing then this leads you to another thing. Etc etc. Not so much for financial gain but simply to provide a focused reason to explore a particular place. This could also include accidentally finding something that instigates a mission.

Just for the record I don’t mind MP really…my point is that I don’t want that to be the focus from HG and don’t want them to think that is what everyone wants. We really want more variety in the game, the ability to play with your friends would be good too. But if the lack of variety is not addressed, not even MP would save NMS.

BTW this is an awesome idea too!

So Sean Murray just tweeted out,

PRAWN CURRY

Which is a meme, one of many SM memes, a meme train actually, going on in the official subreddit .

The last time he tweeted was 8/11/17, a couple days after 1.3.

This tweet means HG and SM still read the Subreddit and they’re up to date ; )

tweet or what ever you do and tell them to spill the beans!!!

But I am just a simple man!?

I shan’t! I can’t!

Lol I tweet HG all the time and only once has Sean actually replied to me. This was 2 years ago tho Dx

I know in the past, data miners have been able to find future content before the release date, exocrafts for example. Has anyone attempted to find anything that would be added 1.4 in the 1.3 to 1.38 data files?

For me, the core of “No Man’s Sky” is the simulation of an open game world. The playable storylines are therefore not so relevant for me, because they are not simulated and when they are played through once, next time they have hardly any attraction. Therefore, I would rather like to see the side missions extended and simulated better. They should only be available for a limited period of time and should also be given a time limit for the conversion. Furthermore, a simulation of the NPCs involved should be triggered when a mission is accepted. For example, if you’re supposed to deliver an item anywhere, NPCs might try to prevent it. Also, the implementation (also of failed missions) should trigger new other missions.
I also want to be able to build a base myself, wherever I like. This means that you could build a suitable plateau by terraforming yourself and install the basic module with a suitable blueprint.
All blueprints should also be available in any way, regardless of a defined storyline (exocrafts etc.).
There should also be blueprints for ship prototypes, multi-tools and exo-suits.
All NPCs should be simulated (work, sleep, eat, defend, move…).
You should also be able to disassemble or destroy objects and not only take out any contents.
Locked doors (e. g. Atlas pass) should be capable of being blown up, e. g. with a home-made bomb.

The limits and possibilities in the game should be defined solely by the simulation of the physical laws of this world and not by other fixed restrictions as described above.
