What has everyone done to prepare for 1.3?

Gek relics and maybe Effigies could be used i guess, or some of the more exotic alloys could be used but I would rather have those for future ship customization. But i like the Atlas stone idea it makes a lot of sense, they’re just so expensive. lol

I have often thought about what functions unused items such as Night Crystals or the various alloys (Herox, Lemmium, ect.) might serve in future updates. By description however, the alloys may likely be tied to ship customization.

To activate a portal i think we’ll need an Atlas pass V4. The biggest challenge will certainly be: How to get it.

Spot on… Not trivial at all!
(Merely speculating), but in that scenario using the new feature would require:
1-Getting a Level4 Pass, likely through new lore chores.
2-Knowing a galactic-address/glyph-code for your destination. (another thing someone will likely make an app, for)
3-Owning an Atlas Stone you can spare. (or some other trinket as fuel)
4-Finding a “physical” portal, somewhere, you can use as entrance. (not easy)
5-Correctly dialing a valid destination (would be “great” if you lost the stone, or even warp into the vacuum if you screwed or dial at random)
6-Profit. (Build an exo, or walk the big one to get somewhere you can call your ship back…

I found my first portal and am camping out at it. It’s on a beautiful paradise planet that hopefully wont change. I will build a home here.

An Update in Regard to my Preparation for 1.3 [PS4]
I spent a lot of time building my newest freighter into a mobile nursery and storage facility. I’ve added a Galactic Terminal for easy fundraising and one entire wall is colour coded storage boxes. Most of the interior is dedicated to growing plants and I’ve chosen 80% “good for maximum $ crop” with the remaining 20% good for resources with a sample of each plant. I’ve kept some planters empty for future use.
The freighter itself is a 19 slotter with a bunch of ball pods down the side. I particularly like its looks so I decided to hang onto it as I’ve never fully utilised freighters before anyway so I’ll lean towards a cool look over maximum functionality.
Note: (recently got attacked by pirates for the first time? pods damaged and contents lost but no personal inventory lost. It self repaired during a warp and all is well)
I recently purchased a 2nd ship, a junker 25 slotter as my “truck” for shipping goods so I spent a considerable amount of time up and down between my dome nursery and the freighter, purely to jack my funds up to the golden 100M mark.
I feel I’m as ready as I can be.
I’ve decided to fill my time trying out some of the portal discovery tips to see if anything actually works. I’m particularly interested in the Hexagonal / Ruins triangulation method. But I’ll give all the various ideas a go. My current base planet is very nice and I have a rover so why not do a bit of archaeology.

See yiz in space. :alien:

TBH, I am just playing along like normal.
Have been working on credit increase and trying to locate a portal on my home planet…

Found a total of four portals on my home planet (Gek system). Located trading posts near each of these portals (odd). Finally found a portal on a planet in Korvax system. Located a trading post near it too (really odd). Just upgraded exo-crafts as much as possible. Suspect these will be even more useful after update. Have learned all the language (1,111 words), stocked up 94 mil. units, stocked up resources on home base and freighter (32 slot), maxed relations with all races, now pacing the floor watching my PS4 controller recharging … I LOVE NMS!

I’m buying some seat belts to fasten. It’s looking interesting… :star_struck:

And I also pretty much did what tajay did. Made myself crazy rich, bought a big freighter, big hauler and a new fighter, upgraded everything to the max, and am going exploring in a few. My ATLAS senses are tingling…

Definitely set up a beacon there!

My preparation is never to let Polo down again! I felt so sad when I recently went to share my findings with him but lo and behold, I hadn’t stayed out in extreme weather long enough. So, playing straight for so long it’s reminding me of WT, staring at the screen with much love and slightly sore eyes in my effort to find another planet extreme enough to get the final trophy I lack. First and only game since launch btw, a bit over 1000hrs in and still haven’t left my first galaxy, though I’ve moved three times, love my nip nip bio-dome and have made sure to keep ten atlas stones collected and saved in a crate…three hours left to go on extreme planet found, then I’ll be ready to enter 1.3…woohoo! So excited

After reading the patch note i probably will… buy more memory and a better graphic card

universe was literally flipped. home lush moon is dead moon with ton of deuterium. former barren moon is liveable and nice looking. on the road again.

My nice planet became a toxic wasteland. It made it easier to restart from scratch.
The Artemis storyline has been fun.

Considering that the LUSH home planets on both my PS4 and PC saves got totally NUKED by this update into airless, lifeless hellholes, I’m glad I didn’t bother!

I am not usually one for starting over from scratch after an update, but I think this is one of those rare times where it actually makes sense. The thought of relocating a 100% completed base that is missing over half of its components because they are stuck INSIDE of a mountain is not my idea of compelling game play.
