This is occurring during the weekend event. I have chronicled these observations every Monday after the weekend event ends to avoid spoilers. These are marked blue and give you 1200 quicksilver instead of 250 upon completion.
(Also, the daily community missions have not yet sent us to portals. )
I have been completing the weekend missions with 5 different save files, which gives me a data pool to observe.
If anyone is on PS4 and would like to see the biological horrors (or maybe the new corrupted sentinel) attacks with the weekend mission, then let me know.
KnightAlese and I would be happy to join in multiplayer. We will be on later today.
I wanted to say that I feel a deep sense of gratitude to BLARG (spell that right?)
I searched the planet for over an hour and found nothing, not even near the comm balls that said “item is HERE!”.
I was at a complete loss as to where I could get my hands on the ah… collectibles today, and was about to abort and say goodbye to the 1200 QS for this time around, but BLARG came through.
Visit his base on the target planet if you find yourself in a bind.
I went to the comm balls and saw nothing anywhere near them, storm or no storm. and also used up a ton of AIBs searching on foot, as well as flying low and slow. Never saw one until I dropped in on BLARG’s base there.
Also I did not mention the name of the item required so that there would be no spoiler, @MacForADay. Could you please use the "spoiler tag to obfuscate? Thanks!
Yes. This weekend event was a pain. However, @jedidia will be happy to know that the story does advance. Is that who I think it is? If so, then this taps back into Lore that we already have. Perhaps we are getting the rest of the story?
I also enjoyed the fact that this mission sent me to the one planet type I have never found…
KnightAlese and I had trouble interacting with the venom sacs to collect them. It would be where 0-1 per grouping could be collected. So after we encountered that for 2 different game saves in a row, we grew what we needed before going, which delayed our completions a day.
(Btw, we also encountered the same biological attack pattern with no corrupted sentinels so far. We each have 2 game saves to go because of the grow delay.)
The item seemed so absent on that event planet, that I went back through the portal to the start planet. A planet that also happens to have the item, but in greater frequency. Only took about 5 mins there.
[slightly edited after noticing we’re still hiding spoilery(?) details]
It’s kinda funny that anything about these missions is still considered spoilers, since the only things about the mission that aren’t predictable before it goes up are:
-What the NPC in the Space Anomaly will say.
-What type of planet the portal will send you to.
-What item one will be required to collect.
Everything else about the mission is predictable because its the same every time.
If anything, we should be playing “spot the difference” where everyone reports anything new they noticed that might not have been obvious, such as the fact that the crashed ship featured in this one mentioned Artemis from the Atlas Rises storyline.
I thought that as well I read the dialogue at the location. What happen to Artemis seems to be related to the instabilities. With that lore, there was a dark presence where he was trapped. Perhaps that presence is now attempting to break through?
Also, I have one new piece of data for the biological horror attacks: Knight Alese and I were in multiplayer together (Normal Mode). However, we were in different lobbies and therefore different missions. They attacked again except this time we both got separate swarms. There were some that KnightAlese could not see but were attacking her.
Other than that, the missions followed the same pattern of attacks with multiplayer but not solo.
I hope not, there is enough darkness around in the real world without adding more.
Talking of which, has anyone else noticed rain being more noticeable on planets? Many planets I arrive on are raining all the time and then they get added storms. Can’t see a thing in VR and kinda makes it pointless to explore.
I’ve mentioned that numerous times, but people here still refer to her as “him”. (Even though the game itself uses only gender-neutral terms (they, them)
Personally, I prefer not to drag sexuality into NMS, especially since I can’t imagine that Apollo, Artemis or any other fictional characters really cares.
