We need to talk about Emily

When I post, or just as someone else posts it always says it was posted 4 minutes ago and never “just now” or one minute ago etc. Not sure if its just me and my system clocks messing things or we are all out of sync

I’ve been thinking about what Elizabeth Leighton said about “Fixing the mess with Superlumina” even though she “loves those kids” (most likely refering to the three team members on the Superlumina site that look to be in their 20s).

Then thinking about how she refused to comment about Emily. What if whatever they are doing to “fix” the mess with Superlumina is what happened to Emily as well?

I’m starting to think Elizabeth Leighton isn’t a very nice person.

In work now and it says 1m. I guess it is just my home computers clock. OR Every time I take the bus I’m passing through some sort of split in the fabric of reality.

I really like D myself. I just joined though I have been following the developments since the first tapes were delivered. Really interesting times we are in.

What are the chances of so many people in this god-forsaken planet interested in sci-fi, bit fanatical about NMS, lucid dreamers with a tendency to astral project, morbidly curious and with doubts about the fabric of our reality that had read Castaneda meet at a forum that wasn’t supposed to be related to any of those things at all?

I’ll go with H:
We are all “Brains in a jar”, the same brain, actually… linked in parallel with all the other versions of ourselves from all the other running experiments. All Hundred-forty-thousand of them.

This Elizabeth Leighton, I’ll agree.

Something VERY weird is going on. The calendar on the Waking Titan site is off. Saturday July 9th is off by date or day of the week, unless it might be a time slippage from last year. Or a parallel universe.

I’m thinking about noodles, strands of noodles laid out longways. They could be more or less parallel. Or they could be in a tangle, flowing around, into and out of each other. In the long garbled message, I hear Elizabeth saying “Fifteen timelines.” Or sixteen. But who’s to say that the Elizabeth Leighton who posted those videos yesterday is the same woman who called for help from the future?

I sincerely doubt that any of us are theoretical physicists, so we have to go on popular conceptions of parallel time streams and/or universes, and time travel.

One states that significant events can or will cause a split in the universe, as the events play out in different threads to their own conclusions. What “significant” might be is up to debate. When you add time travel, or sending information to various points in the time stream, into the mix, things get a little messy.

In one hypothesis, it causes a separate timeline. In another, it results in an overwrite of events, like recording over a part of tape with new audio/video.

Just a few days ago, Elizabeth was struggling to communicate with the world through some sort of phenomenon which interfered badly with the signal. And subsequent transmissions overlaid each other, each message sounding increasingly despondent. And the underlying transmission had some rather unsettling things in it which we still haven’t resolved, but sounded like quite a calamity.

And yet, here she is, prim and proper and acting like nothing in the world is wrong, and spoon feeding us some awesome stuff about amazing things to come. Get on board. Who wouldn’t?

Emily has been out of contact for days now, and Liz doesn’t want to discuss it. She sounded rather terse. In my thinking, Emily is either a relative (younger sister or cousin), employee, associate, maybe a friend. We saw her upload going through a similar distortion as with Elizabeth’s transmission. This is clearly reason for concern, but we aren’t allowed to inquire.

Something is wrong. I’m wondering if this really is the same Elizabeth who was trying to reach someone for help “previously.” Is this a parallel Elizabeth from a darker timeline? Is she being manipulated or controlled? Is she a different being? Remember that there are synthetic beings in the Simulation posing as the originals… are we seeing one here? Are the differences, the wrong dates and all, the result of Atlas seizing control and massaging the dimension to suit its purposes? Is someone using Atlas for theirs?

The questionnaire we got mentions the Singularity, and if we should help bring it about. So I was right about that. And right about how the Atlas Foundation is all about understanding the very “foundations” of reality. And manipulating them? Have the Elizabeth seen in the previous calls for help and Emily been shuffled off to a side timeline from this one? Or erased?

Put on your tin foil thinking caps, people, and stay alert. Something isn’t right.

An (on-role) C type scenario… Exchanging Nyarlathotep with an AI beyond singularity (a god, by our standards) Yeah… I adhere to that myself.

Absolutely incredible… How will the Atlas Passes play into this? could we be unwittingly contributing to whatever is causing these for lack of a proper term time schisms?

This is one thing I’m keeping in mind. That the “this is a trap” people might be right, so I’m going to be asking them for other ways to proceed than the obvious. Assuming we have any…

I’m wondering so many things with this situation. Another is the First Race, the ones who vanished from the universe, leaving behind things like the Monoliths which absorb some of the memories of the peoples who venerate them.

Turtles all the way down… if you ascribe to our theories, the Atlas Foundation is ultimately responsible for this universe, the first Turtle. Is someone, or someones, in the Atlas group the ones who caused all this, gods controlling Atlas controlling every aspect of the Simulation? Did Atlas grab hold of them, perhaps all of humanity, and transmogrified them into this First Race doing some special work for Atlas? And when they disappeared, did they really vanish? Or are they still here, behind some dimensional curtain, monitoring the experiment?

My theory on Emily is that she was an AI sent back into the past from Atlas (or wherever this has all begun, whether otside time or within a dream, or another simulation… maybe she is Nada!).

She never existed outside the internet. She made her presence manifest through this forum and the visual medium of the youtube videos she posted.

Her task was to help bring us together. She accomplished that task. And now she has returned to where she originated.

Hopefully, wherever she is, she remembers us, and holds dear the trinkets of our hearts and imaginations which she captured at least in part.

Another thing I’m wondering: will “boat rockers” be denied an Atlas Pass? Or would we suit their purposes in our own ways?

My theory on the date discrepancy is we recieved this information from a parallel universe where the Gregorian calender differs by a day

I don’t know what to think about Emily anymore. I decided to delete my thoughts because we really have almost nothing to go on, so why muddy the waters with wild speculation?

I’m stuck with focusing on Elizabeth. So what’s up with her??

She has to be aware of her own transmissions from the future. I’m going on the assumption that this is still in our future, and the “Superlumina problem” is something else, a much more minor issue. She seems unconcerned about it. I can only fathom a few possibilities.

  • She and her team have poured over the garbled transmissions and decided they have an understanding of what happened, and how to circumvent it so it doesn’t happen, and that future is erased. Perhaps the Superlumina people suffered a milder version of it, a small localized causality paradox or something, and worked out a solution.
  • They decided the risk of whatever it is is either manageable or unavoidable, but they should ultimately be able to deal with it somehow.
  • She’s lost as to a solution, and is letting the project continue as she tries to buy time, delaying major parts of the project in hopes they, or we, stumble onto a breakthrough.
  • She’s trapped in the project and has no real authority to call the shots, such as calling a halt to their work. Major Dubois and the government agency overseeing everything are running the show with absolute power, and Elizabeth is hoping this side project, the Citizen Science Division, us, is a wild card she hopes to leverage to her advantage. So she’s playing both sides, the government and us. The Major has grudgingly permitted this pet project to come about, though she clearly doesn’t like it and thinks it’s a risky deal. A risk to the security of the project? Or a risk that we might prove an obstacle to the the government’s goals? Or the Major’s?
  • Would she go out with me? Sorry, couldn’t resist a little levity in a gloomy thread. :yum:

Understanding reality doesn’t sound like the goal, but a means to an end. What end? Do these people have any real idea of the potential risks involved in tinkering with the fabric of reality?

I still wonder if someone has visions of godhood.

Perhaps she’s about to time travel.

Or perhaps she is joining the singularity.

Or perhaps it is a trace residual of a post from within a parallel universe within the multiverse.

Definitely noticeable though!

I thought trying to find out why the other plant is on her FB cover photo is, all I seemed to relate it to was dogwood bush, but turned up nothing that seemed to connect to this ARG, the pink flower on the other had does have connections to Greek mythology

The fact that something like the Citizen Science Division exists, tells me there is still a non-conventional problem that they expect an outside agent with limited knowledge would be able to solve for them.

My brother came up with a premise for a story called Spy Kids, and nothing like that silly Disney Flick. Something to compete with what he called at the time “Harry Potty.” I think the first book had been published. In it, some high school-slash-college youths in some sort of detective’s club were recruited by a cloak n dagger outfit in the U.S. govt, CIA, NSA or some other alphabet bunch, to help solve a problem. Like the guy in SG Universe, they solved some sort of mystery that got the government’s attention, and were given a task to test them. He never wrote the story, but it gave him the idea for an ARG before ARGs existed. He’s a polymath too, and too easily distracted, especially after emigrating to Japan and discovering the joys of being a barbarian second-class citizen there. But I digress.

This is what we’re wrapped up in, no doubt. There’s the question of just what bacon we’re supposed to save, or who’s. I’m reminded of my earlier speculations about Elizabeth and whether or not she’s even the same woman calling for help from the future. Or is it the future? Temporal flaws are involved. The calendar was off one way or another. We know multiple universes or time streams are involved. Aliens are involved, or will be. Are they involved already? Our Masters have been rather coy and quiet about some pretty important stuff.

I hope the Next Step shines some light on all this, and Emily’s fate.

I absolutely love that show. I rewatch the pilot every now and again. I can’t help but think of SG when talking about all this. :stuck_out_tongue:

That strange effect that was appearing in the video must have been a proof that this video is from the future and that means that they found particles that are faster than light!!
