XD. I’m new too…
The Glyphs… Are tempting to be taken as features of the new update. I know I did, but might be wishful thinking. I got fixated on more “small and large creatures”. Nothing else I dare infere.
@MacForADay… So Pathfinder didn’t reshuffle the generation tables? Wow… Bet it took way longer for them to achieve that, than to model those buggies. Sort of knew Foundation did, and I’m always messing with mods that do it all the time.
@LPlaysGaming, yeah… It’s like adding more side to a dice. You can add new branches, and maybe that is what kept things on Pathfinder more or less untouched.
@stryker99. Those pesky Fourth and the Fiends been there in the files like it feels forever, now… They are both called Greys and Diplomats on the files, so I think your intuition there might be right.
@TopCat, For me, they can add all the lore they want, but it’s something I’m ok being bague references and I have all I need of that. I would be more thrilled for some kind of procedural adventure or quest layer…

I know some people have a fondness for the races in NMS, but I’d be very happy if we stepped through a portal and “reality” got rid of them, replaced with races that seem believable and well-designed. I just find the races very hokey – especially the Gek and Vy’keen – and break immersion from the beautiful scenery and serious tone of the lore. The mechanical tech is sleek (even though it often cribs from other sci-fi) and the worlds are gorgeous (aside from the animals), but the races seem straight out of some sci-fi 1950’s B movie.
There’s a lot of other bucket features I’d like addressed in NMS, especially on the combat and trading front. And some kind of dynamic job system. But in terms of Waking Titan’s narrative and how it might change the universe, the races would be my main hope for change. Oh, and the wonky animals.

The race of the us…the player maybe
Hey TC! You are right we’ve all been focused on game play specifics but more lore would be incredible!
Some sort of quest type thing could be cool (I liked the player base quests, so some Race/Atlas/Lore based quests could be super cool).
I like the idea of making ruins more like little dungeons or just larger with more to explore, maybe with little bits of lore sprinkled about to find in them etc…
Wandering characters out in the worlds doing there own thing and with their own stories to tell would be a really neat touch too and would fit with the exploration pretty well!

Yeah… I was personally hoping that they’d start playing with procedural narative, because it’s something even less well explored than procedural universes… After launch it became clear that they’d have to finish the game first, but I’m still hoping that they’ll tackle it one day. Might be a great project for hello labs, actually.

Procedural narrative sounds amazing! I imagine it is unbelievably difficult to pull of in any sort of good way though!
Procedural narrative is at play in NMS already. It’s how we discover all the Lore in the game. Every time we stumble onto a Knowledge Stone, we learn the next word in the language of the race we’re dealing with on that world. Each Monument, Plaque, Abandoned Building, Atlas Nexus etc advances our knowledge by one step, always in sequence, no matter where in the galaxy we are.
Doing the same thing with roleplaying, discoveries, mission and job elements and so on is simply a matter of working out the sequencing like the Lore items, and fitting the element to the biome and world involved. So for worlds with lots of water and/or forests would be best for Gek oriented plots, and harsh conditions for Vy’keen. Korvax could be anything. The Fourth Race will be interesting to see how they fit in to the galaxy.
That should be a suit and ship upgrade
