No Man’s Sky Videographers!
Our journey continues with yet another sci-fi…
Guy asks for a ℞.—Doc says: “Dude, it ain’t writer’s block; It’s traveller’s overwhelm!”
Summary
Diagnosis reads: “Gameplay, paintings, poems, music, spoilers, majestically bazaar, simplistic, probabilistic, soothing/sublime, adorably monstrous, dangerously cute, joint exploration, solo contemplation, popular, should be popular, probably a good reason not to be popular, that time when the game glitched and ProcGen melted before you as you watched your 16 cohorts be catapulted into dual singularity, Mother Atlas and her Sentinel Minions, ok I made all that up myself
, just simple stuff and whatever…”—Dr Crim CSD | ℞ reads: “Creative Sub-Category”

I did not think I’d be able to move back that fast towards it and was expecting a bit of a trek after landing.

My daughter used 3 ramps as a security system with one at the front. If you close the one at the back it causes the one at the front to close over the cockpit making it impossible to see where you are going.
I am not sure of the benefit but it ought to be usable for some creative purpose

I met up with myself on PC and PS5 (captured on PC with a mix of med/high/some low).
Wanted to see how well the game handled the multiple travellers in a mobile base with fully walkable exteriors.
Remember when we were first allowed have people aboard our freighters? How easily it crashed or how quickly someone would be ejected into space? A bug that still crops up to this day particularly over cross play.
I wanted to see how far along they’ve come since then.
It worked surprisingly well, nobody had to spacewalk home.
Last time I played on PC I was getting around 20 frames on average, there’s definitely been some major optimisation since as it’s running great now.
My first thought was, if I was a no mans sky video editor, I would immediately set up multiple accounts so I can have multi cam recordings of shop flights. The perspective from my PC player was fun to watch.
I think the ability to add camera positions to our corvettes and flick through them would be a lot of fun too.
They’d be similar to comm balls, and be invisible outside of the build mode, you’d place one, then instead of setting a message you set a camera angle similar to taking a screenshot of a base.

I tried getting players to take off with me in their Corvette to see what happened but it seems no one is brave enough.

Yup, some of the newer bobbles add various bumps too and I think the squid one gets an adjacency boost from polo as well.

Well this is an interesting bug. I wonder what it is about the surface teleporter activating that sends a huge force outwards from the player?
I couldn’t even get close to this using the most explosive weapons I had at my disposal.

In NMS, each planet has a water table - a level in the land surface below which water sits. It’s why you don’t find water up mountains.
The position of a parked ship is also connected to land surface level. Hovering ships, however, are fairly new - and may not be fully accounted for in the simulation mathematics.
It seems possible that the appearance of a hovering ship momentarily confuses the game regarding where the land surface is supposed to be. For a fraaction of a second, it places the water level immediately below the hovering ship. In that case, what you’re seeing is not an explosion, but the water physics doing their job, and correcting an anomalous column of water.

The interesting thing that I find is how it also interacts with gravity. During the storm, the wave is higher and more pointy/glitchy. I was able to reproduce this on another plant, but the wave wasn’t as high.

Ooh a new creator to sub to!
How did they get their corvettes to display like that? Can you pop them in a wonder projector or is this some fun new glitch trickery? Or perhaps base building app/plugin workaround where you can copy/paste/resize the data from a corvette?
