I would like to see more Lore animated. That was nice! Really brings the lore to life, making it easier to remember. Thanks!

You already said it perfectly @sheralmyst, but allow me to join your though about the animated Lore!

@kyle-culver thanks for the great video!

I honestly can’t see what the problem is with having NPC characters animated and walking around. Sean has said it’s too expensive (in terms of system resources), but they can do it with animals. In some cases, 40 or 50 animals at the same time.

I think she was probably talking about the kyle’s video? Or I might be wrong?:no_mouth:

I’m extending the idea into the game. Why not do it for real?

Yes @arpoja and Yes @Polyphemus . I have wondered about that as well. I was glad when they added more NPC’s to the Space Stations but, animation would make it so much better. And yes, an animated Lore Series would be so nice. It would really help put everything we currently know in order and make the story easier to understand.

Well could be a thing to do, but that is not at the top of my wishlist, didn’t even think about it to be honest!

Could be something fun to add a little something , but I’d rather see them in a separated instance to avoid being interrupted while exploring or doing anything else.

For example, imagine a new device in that last mysterious door inside the anomaly. We could have some rememberances (imagine cassettes like phase one hehe) from the Lore to collect or be rewarded with trough missions, and than play them !
@sheralmyst agreed!

I can understand that having a set of rules allowing the fairly basic animated creatures to run around, all using one of about 5 actions, being fairly complex from a processing point of view, when you take into account the procedurally generated landscape that is being continually ‘grown’ as we move about.
Adding more animation (say at trading posts) would further complicate that and trading posts already have the animated NPC ships coming and going.

I’m interested though, in would it be possible, in less complicated static environments (space stations & freighters) for animated NPCs to move about between ships or whatever.
Or on dead words with little environmental details to process, would it be possible to have an NPC mining camp or similar animation given the other animations are not present?

The simplistic but highly appropriate animation Kyle used in his vid would make learning the lore more involving. I too would love to see a similar animation telling the full story of the NMS races as we know it to date.

(this goes out to @sheralmyst and @arpoja as a reply as well)
My thoughts, too. At first I thought maybe they did it like that to incite the imagination. Kinda like reading the Bible. You don’t really know how it looked, felt, played out, etc. I think I get that kind of tone when reading the lore. Almost like a myth. Something that happened, but happened too many life times ago. You never get details, too. Just the important points.

The more I read the lore, the more I think, “Wow, this imagery would be awesome to see!” I would love nothing more than to dedicate some time to a few animations! But alas, that is something I have little to give extra projects. Nonetheless, I could work on one passage at a time, and sort of build a gallery of sorts.

Remember sirrandalot’s Korvax lore video?? I mean, that whole thing could be one cut scene! (ok, maybe split up acording to the passage, but still!) It was part of a larger project, but had to be abandoned for its time due to how long it would take to finish. (I was part of the project as a voice actor - I had a chance to read the scripts and while it was a fun adventure, it did seem like a lot for one or two people animating the whole thing.)

Also, I would love to see NPCs actually walking around performing tasks, like @Polyphemus and @Mad-Hatter suggest. Would breathe a certain new life to the atmosphere of the game. But I keep going back to this idea that the game itself is a simulation and therefore has limits. HG did an incredibly creative thing mixing in their limitations as designers/developers into the fabric of the story of the game. The game is aware of its shortcomings, and uses the lore to explain or excuse that fact. It’s brilliant. All conjecture of course, but the thought hasn’t left me.

What lore would you guys want to see animated first?

Yes this is my longest ever discussion video and yes I’m deep into tinfoil hat territory :stuck_out_tongue:

I would love to see any of the lore. No preference. Like you stated, some of it is rather vague and lacking much detail or context so I would leave the decision on where to start to the one doing all the work.

Underwater vehicles would be so very nice!

Hey Mac, do you think you can check out my creative base? It’s… different. I call it the garden of glowy lights (now featuring a desk and chair!) It might make a pretty good joke video
