they are going to need them

I do prefer to be able to freely explore without feeling forced into a set story or forced to engage in heavy combat. I bought the game (one of very few I have bought over the years) for exploration and for a universe-sized walkabout with many wonders. The current hazard level in the game suits me.

Sean Murray did say that the primary focus when the game came out would be exploration but that would (might?) change as time went on. So I am a bit apprehensive that threats and hazards will increase and all that will happen is that I die early and often. Then it becomes no fun for me. Creative mode is not enough for the full experience and if Normal mode gets too aggressive, … here’s hoping not <fingers, toes, and eyes crossed>

My suspicion: Saturday is the anniversary date for the PC edition, so …

I’m hoping for tomorrow

Im betting on patch notes tomorrow then update on Sat.

If these are things to come – wowser!

I think this hits at the heart of what the ideal game like this would do. The trick is providing enough gameplay options and opportunities for all kinds of different players to play the way they want, and all feel satisfied with the progress they’re making and rewards they receive. A survivalist could dive into precarious life-or-death situations in a struggle to come out on top. An explorer might bypass that and set out on a path to uncover all the game’s hidden mysteries. A fighter might enlist as a soldier in a war and advance through service, or become a mercenary making progress as a hired-gun. Traders, pirates, diplomats, archeologists, biologists, technologists, etc., whatever one prefers. And it’s gotta do all that in a way that all fits together nicely, and is fluid enough to allow players to change course or follow multiple paths at will. Certainly tricky to do, but that would be my ideal.

I lightened up the pictures (was I the only one that thought they where a bit dark, or is that just me?)

There are probably two sets of images for mouse over or preload with the darkened effect, and then the full res bright ones.

Missions sound really fun , giving the player more things to do is just amazing and I’m also curious if the leaked info about the update is true because Joint explorian is still something that caught my eye

Oh man, HG clearly did NOT expect the CSD to redirect our collective investigative thirst into their web assets for the update.

Or perhaps they did… and this is our reward? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Those all look rather real to me. And wow, it certainly follows the last two updates of ā€œunder promise/ over deliverā€. GD HG, this looks amazing…
