Did they? I probably wouldn’t have noticed one way or the other, tbh.
But if they did, it shows it might be possible - though it might not be possible/easy with generated items, as opposed to a known area they’ve demarcated. Game programming’s not my thing, unfortunately.

I wonder if you can generate targets well away from the main expedition? A bit like reseting station missions. I might see if I can do that.
I get the feeling they might patch that in after the mayhem that will no doubt unfold this weekend. Maybe they are trying to lure out the bad faith players for a mass ban from uploading bases to the servers.
As Poly pointed out, it’s never really happened before, but I have heard whispers of people being IP banned for things. Not sure what exactly.
(just did a gemini search and they actually linked some posts of people who were platform/account banned for persistent griefing or persistent hate speech made in-game using comm balls or base names/message modules )
One thing I wish about the expedition missions, in particular the Swarm Debris… If they had given us access to a colossus via a milestone reward, and these missions took place on planets with waste disposal…
Delivering the swarm debris to them after digging them up would have been fun and given some longevity to these missions a little. But I do appreciate how quick they can be for those with busy schedules.

One mission took me to a waste disposal unit. I had to use the terminal. I also thought the Colossus would have been nice.
There is some nice variation in some of the missions. One called in a derelict freighter and when I approached, the drone hive came after me

I remember that waste disposal one, I like those ones that send us to a corrupt terminal
I wonder where it will send us next?

I also started yesterday morning – I’ve learned to immediately switch off MP, but of course partially-built bases were already everywhere near the spawn point. Had to do the same thing, walk 1000+ clicks for copper & silver & star bulb. I can say that I did not see the widely-reported McD sign, which is almost but not quite disappointing.

I have what must be a false memory, or heard false info long ago, that HG at one point put a lock on Nexus mission locations so that bases could not be built, and/or that they would be wiped clean every 24 hours, so players wouldn’t be barred from completing tasks. Clearly, expeditions would benefit from exactly such a mechanic…

An interesting thought just occurred to me: The way this expedition is designed makes for a really neat social psychology experiment on people who play this game. Between the quiz answers, choice of dailies (and their scoring consequences), hours played in this game mode, and just general player behavior (bases being reported en masse, general analytics, etc), someone could probably write a fascinating research paper on all of us if Hello Games were to release the data…

Oh don’t worry, you will see it at a certain point. We all do. Though can’t say if the view hasn’t been ruined by other people coming along and building there, but my second run through on PC with my copper problems, I saw it again.
You’ll bump into it towards the end of Phase 2, that’s all I’ll say
It also has a fun and appropriate name for the update, try and catch it on the UI if you can.
Maybe that’s the plan, Expedition ends with us signing data consent forms

You’re probably aware of this with your all seeing eye… : ) But you can use the gravity gun to simply stun the sentinels and bounce them into the distance. They return very slowly, and very ‘shaken’, so you can concentrate on one of them at a time. It’s fun, borderline a little cruel. The ‘trick’ with a controller is to first catch one, then release them by double tapping quickly, to fire them a great distance. Alternatively just shake them around close by and fire them against a base wall, or large rock so they remain stunned. Then simply fire at them with your favourite weapon.
Also using the gravity gun you can collect and drag normal sentinels (screaming and fizzing) inside any prefab building or any building will do and then go inside and pop them off one by one. Not actually done it with swarm sentinels but probably the same effect and they don’t seem to fire indoors. (probably trained not to lol ) : D

I’ve tried throwing them around. The trouble is, while I’m doing it, there’s another nine of them shooting at me.

Hmmm I know what you mean. : ) Definitely try the fast double release as two or even three quick hits magnifies the power of the throw, bouncing them a tremendous distance away in a straight line. To compensate for my lack of my ten year old hands and digits I have a one year old controller which helps. : )

Finally. First time today I have been able to play. I see Prismatic core is at 3% and Sage contribution is at 1%

I did the missions, then went off on a tangent and found an undiscovered system.
Built my base (WiP). Looks like I’m with this one for a while.

You can get a more detailed percentage read out on the galactic atlas too, it shows a decimal.
All the scores are so close in number to each other though so we’ve basically all contributed the same as far as it can tell us.
1.3% (rounded) by all, we are close to 4% total now

I hear the griefing is getting real bad, there are some players actively spawn camping the areas were players start the expedition or waiting near the broken starships and killing them before they can even get a chance to switch PVP off or even know what is happening. May not be so bad for seasoned players but for new players they may have no idea what is going on.
Hoping HG rectify this soon and just have PVP off by default, across the board. Its been said a million times before in the past there’s no reason for On to be the default, but this time I really hope they do something about it and actually change it.

I just ran all 3 missions with MP off and it was a very smooth experience.
