The Swarm Expedition 22

I chose enjoy the time I have because that means I can use that time to perform as many kindness’ as I can :stuck_out_tongue:

Both options were tied to left and right trigger, so I actually held both down and tried to select both in-game. Both circles filled up but I guess Enjoy my time was quicker on the draw.

@adlopez16 You can turn MP off for a little bit if you are finding that area difficult with all the iteration crossover, I’ve heard a few people report this and post pics of the absolute chaos that has befallen them, seen pics with like 50 corrupted sentinels. I myself got like 100 birds in the sky at one point and my frames got crippled. In VR

If you are on console, or using a controller on PC, pressing left trigger anywhere in the Pause Menu, will instantly bring you to network menu, a handy shorcut I’ve grown to love.

Aha, thanks. The pieces were all already torn off by other people, I saw them lying about… yup, I better return without multiplayer, or at a more quiet time of the day.

I quit the game without saving before the last step of the “poll” – and it had already saved its assignment. If someone tries again, try quitting at the beginning of the poll, to test whether it’s preassigned from the start, perhaps?

I don’t vibe much with “red, royal.” :-/ But if it’s just an arbitrary assignment, eh, it doesn’t matter, it’s just a team colour. I changed my looks to mostly Autophage and picked that skull-headed staff from the reward shop – because that combo was the most unroyal looking style I could think of. :winking_face_with_tongue:

I played in no-MP mode but with internet still on.
Stable & no issues although most bases were just bits.
I encountered one crashed spawn thingy (the 2nd one) that someone had built a base over with a missing floor panel to access the crashed craft. Problem was, the terrain had filled back in locking access because of their editing permissions.
I don’t think it was an effort at griefing, I think it was a misguided effort to make it easier.
Reported it and it vanished & I did the thing & moved on.

My ship has been renamed the Extra Spicey Turnip & is now ready for war.
Taking a break now as the first missions are done & like everyone else I’m in the holding pattern.

Turn off MP. I helps. But dismantling these machines is difficult. Last night I was climbing practically inside one to get the last 2 parts. I finally pulled a huge piece out of the thing. Then one more underneath it.

Re the team assignment. If you start an expedition as a new save, you (used to?) always get the same avatar and ship design. It may be the same thing that’s used here. I don’t know what that is, though.

The questionnaire has no baring on the team you are given, seemingly its derived from your username.

Remember when you used to get the same traveller every time when starting an expedition from a new save, before the ability to join from an existing save?

Its using the same method.

So our choices are for something else. I get the feeling, at the end of the expedition, our choices will be brought up again in conversation, they might be referenced by whoever we talk to near the end, be it polo, atlas, hive or telamon. Sorta bookending the narrative.

If not, then maybe… *eyes the ARG * maybe its for something else :eyes:

For now, im gonna say itll be to flavour the expeditions end narrative to make it somewhat bespoke since the ARG is still in the fan-made hypotheses for me.

Has anyone noticed another waking titan similarity in this Expedition?

The Emperor of Glass’ logo looks an awful lot like the one we got during our quizes, but corrupted or evil.

I actually found standing a bit of a distance back was a better position for using the gravity-coil-whatsamajig for dismantling. (PS5)

I think I am too short for that to work. It did seem like I needed a straight shot to get those 2 pieces out.

I’m a little slow…but it seems HG intends to keep us in this Expedition until just before the 10 year anniversary. They intend us to settle in. I have everything handed to me to build a base and start a new life for myself. They are urging me to get a Freighter and build it up. There is a lot of down time between missions and a strong incentive to see this thing thru so our team will be immortalized in the Anomaly.

So I am claiming systems for Atlas-65 and building my character up. And pulling in missions every 6 hours or so.

Go Sages!!!

One thing the hive reminded me of, is one of the level bosses from Rez. This picture doesn’t show it at its most similar, but I couldn’t find one that does. Anyone who’s played it will know what I mean though.

Yup, looks like its set to run all the way up until just before the big update at the latest. Usually the community driven goals in past expeditions had a set (invisible) number we had to hit alongside an invisible deadline on HG’s servers that would auto-complete if the community didn’t reach the goal before then.

This time, the deadline is clearly visible, just under 60 days. I wonder will the community get there before then? We’re still waiting on XBOX to get the update, and then there’s the weekend rush on top of that. I wonder what the percentage numbers will look like come the end of peak hours on Sunday? Might be able to gauge then, accounting for gradual user drop off on a weekly basis, when the community might cross the goal line

The consecutive player count heights hit by a release, usually have a 1000-3000 weekly user drop off depending on the update. All this been extrapolated from SteamDB of course, who knows what the console drop off rates are like but I would imagine they’re not too dissimilar.

This one looks like it might hit 30,000 consecutive steam players on Sunday. Exo-Arena had 13,000 steam players on its wednesday release, and 25,000 at it’s peak that sunday.

Swarm had 18,000 consecutive steam players for its release yesterday.

Xeno-arena also had a rare retention level for NMS, due to the nature of how you got all the rewards and the time it took to build a team; the following sunday saw very little drop in player count and was almost identical to the first sunday.

This update incentivises players to return daily, to support their team, and immortalise their colour in the game forever.

It will be interesting to see how the numbers fall in the coming weeks.

Just an update on figuring out what decides what team you are on.

It would seem, the most likelihood is a serial number or MAC address of your system, or possibly the license/ownership of your copy of the game.

On PSN, I got Weaver.
On steam, on my PC, with different answers, I got weaver.
Now these two usernames are linked via hello games, and radically different names too. So, just to rule out there’s no tracking go on there between profiles, I did some control studies.

I have two other steam accounts seperate from my main one, different usernames, different steam id numbers, set up with family share. No ties to cross-save or twitch drops etc on hellogamescloud. I use these to put more than one uploaded base visible per planet so had them ready to go.

Both of these accounts got weaver. I doubt I’m that lucky.

So either it is tied to your mac address, or it is tied possibly to the copy of your game (since these steam accounts are essentially accessing the same license purchased by my main account.)

Either way, I will probably do the expedition with my Console main and my PC main, I wouldn’t have time to do them all each day for dailies. Maybe on a slow boring day I might…

Long story short.

I’m bringing home double the points for Weaver :stuck_out_tongue: Lets gooooo Weavers!

My friend and I completed the survey at the same time last night with different answers and both got Sage. Im wondering if its just simply distributing players evenly across the 3 teams for fairness sake.

Weaver has the most players, by about 500-600 more than the others, so distributing my 3 other accounts from a different platform doesn’t seem fair

Sean must have rigged it, his favey colour must be blue!
